My thoughts:
This is another pretty typical early tub-chassis drive from Conner Peripherals. Like all their drives, this is not big on performance nor reliability, but their emphasis on simple design and highly integrated controllers allowed these drives to be manufactured nearly entirely automatically without human intervention, which somewhat increased their quality and yield, especially in the far East factories Conner helped make popular for this purpose.
