someone's probably mentioned it before in the comments, but bakugou calling someone by their actual name is a show of respect on his part. kirishima gets it back during the calvary battle, and uraraka gets it here, right before she passes out.
one of my favorite moments in this season, and the moment he says she isn't frail when everyone else is dissing her made me realize bakugo had great potential as a character. a great episode
And it’s important to note that Bakugo isn’t intentionally disrespecting everyone else by refusing to learn their names. He just doesn’t pay attention to people in general, so he can’t remember their names unless he finds them personally interesting.
I did love this little detail about him!
Cutting from Uraraka's lovely conversation with her dad straight to Endeavour really emphasizes how awful a parent he is in comparison.
Love seeing Aizawa take over the commentary to defend both his students (because he's defending Uraraka's right to be there as well as Bakugo's actions); he's (because he has to be!) ruthless as a teacher, but he really does have his students' backs.
True that was a brutal comparison! And I love how quickly he backed up Bakugo
I love that at the beginning of the match Bakago can't seem to remember Uraraka's name (calling her round face girl) but at the end of the match he directly addresses her as Uraraka, meaning she's left such a strong impression on him that he can't forget her.
Bakugo is like: I dont discriminate, these hands are rated E for Everyone 👊, he is an equal opportunity (to beat you up) type of guy, you know? 😂😂

uraraka vs bakugo has got to be one of my fav scenes in mha. i really like bakugos respect for uraraka. especially near the end when kaminari calls her frail and bakugo says "what part of her is frail?"
That was my favourite part of the episode as well!
Bakugo is such an interesting character, he comes across as such a bad guy but he is going after what he wants with passion. However, I think it is important to note (and you noticed this too) that he didn't take it too far and attack when she was down. He never let his guard down but he didn't take it too far.
Endeavor is such an asshole. He is the perfect opposite of All Might.

I love the Uraraka vs Bakugo match A LOT, not only do you have Ochako being tough af proving EVERYONE who saw her as just “a frail girl” wrong! nah she’s a hero in training same as all her classmates (well I think we can all exclude mineta from that XD) but also you get Bakugo being so smart and acknowledging her strength by calling her by name and putting up his guard again when she tried to continue the match after falling AND the “what part of her was frail” after the match *chefs kiss* I think only the next match tops it as my favorite.

Momo vs Tokoyami pitted my two favorites against each other, and oof, poor Momo getting beat so quickly. I think it illustrates that while she's really smart and level-headed, it doesn't translate into quick-thinking in the midst of combat, which gives her room to grow and improve. By contrast, Uraraka showed she does possess that ability, where she had a main strategy of aiming to make Bakugo float out of bounds, but combined it with another startegy of directing his attacks at the concrete to give her rocks to use as weapons. Her quick thinking of making her jacket float in the smoke to draw his attention was an excellent use of the resources available to her. Even though Uraraka lost her match, there's no doubt she made an impression on the people watching, and that they took note of her determination and strength of will. Even though I don't care for Bakugo, I appreciate that he took her as a serious competitor and called out the others for calling her "frail" when she was the one on the attack during the entire fight. All of Bakugo's moves were defensive shots, she's the one who ran toward him. If she couldn't take it, if she was scared, she would have run away from him, but that wasn't the case. Heck, even when she fainted, she was turned toward him, walking back for more. Her body quit long before her willpower did.
Cannot wait for the next one! Todoroki vs Deku is going to be epic!

Scenes like this just show you, how misunderstood Bakugo is, and how many people even till this point still misunderstood him as a viewer.

If i remember correctly from a bonus page of the manga, ibara was originally going to be in class A, but the hair would have been a huge pain to draw regularly, so she ended up in class b lol

Bakugo is, was, and always will be my favorite character, he complex but simple and hes just my edgy boi that respects power

Found your channel because of your Haikyuu reactions, and because of those you’re one of my favorite reactors on TH-cam. One of my peeves with other reactors is their lack of understanding of characters, or when they dismiss them entirely because of their flaws. But you pick up on characters really well, so when I saw you were reacting to MHA I was excited to watch them all and binged them lol. Bakugo was my favorite for a while, so I can’t wait to hear your commentary about him as the series goes on

Two things I wanted to mention:
I think that when Uraraka leaves without a word she is supposed to be jealous, she was jealous of Mei's interest in Midoriya earlier afterall.
As for why she wont make herself fly - earlier she mentioned that she gets really sick when she uses it on herself, so its not really an option.

I love your analysis of bakugo! a lot of people misinterpret his perfectionism and his drive to win
The broadcasting of the sports festival is a weird aspect of the story to me too. If I had to guess, I think the idea is that since All Might became a pro, the overall crime in Japan massively decreased, so UA and the government got too relaxed and stopped being cautious about villains. I won’t say anything else, but don’t forget any critiques of the system like this that you have. Just keep them in the back of your mind haha
There is strength in empathy and kindness. I don't think anybody personifies that more than the mf bad*** that is Ochaco Uraraka. 😤

A small detail that isn't made super clear is that the big blast Bakugo used? It hurts him. You can see his hand shaking afterwards. She thinks he wasn't even fazed but she's wrong. It took quite a bit out of him to win.
I love Ochaco she’s like a bit tomboyish in a way eventhough she’s portrayed as cute, she’s much braver than she seems~ buttttttttt lol Bakugo is my favorite so I was happy he won lol great reaction ~
