    • @HandWiredAmps
      @HandWiredAmps 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

My guess would be to deal with reflections. The rippled surface scatters the light so you don't notice reflections as much, vs using a matte screen. The glossy screens look so much better, but I have noticed the ripples on several tvs at the store.

I plan on making another video like this in the future but longer explaining more of the whys like your requesting. The biggest reason I say avoid something over the other is usually when there is a clear technology difference which equates to you getting a better value overall for example, there will be a Direct Lit or Edge Lit TV from the big 3 which is really entry level doesn't get bright enough for HDR at the same price as a Full Array based system maybe even Mini LED from TCL or Hisense which is giving you good brightness for HDR and you also get a deeper black level because of this.

TCL 6 shouldn’t be half resolution at 4K 120 as it wasn’t last year. RTINGs says the Vizio mqx 4K 120hz is really a problem and it has other issues.
Not sure why you would mention brand loyalty here though the U8H is still good for the price hard to beat if you don’t plan to game and if you game just get TCL 6 for $50 more.

I understand the point your trying to make. Brand loyalty is sticking with the brand regardless of the model in my eyes. Having brand awareness if that brand keeps having the same issues is different, Vizio has had many issues the past few years so before you buy I think it be a good idea to look into user reviews and forums on the MQX but the price for a 75 does seem pretty good but for $200 more I’ve seen the 2021 p series which would be a much better bet for a Vizio.

I can assure you that the A90K is a really good TV. In fact in over 20 years in this house we’re living in, this is definitely the best TV that we’ve ever had in our kitchen. But in saying that the A90K is a really brilliant TV for our kitchen. At almost £1300 it was no way a cheap tv for the kitchen. And it fits in very nicely too. TCL makes some great TV's. I recently picked up the TCL QLED 65" 65S55 about 2 months ago and it's fantastic. Good enough that I picked up the 75" version for our living room. But then I decided I wanted to get back into console gaming, so I ended up picking up an LG C2 so I have all of the fancy gaming features. But to be 100% honest, it's not really that big of a difference than the TCL's I have. Sure, the OLED panel looks better, no doubt about it. But it's not as night and day of a difference as I was expecting, and the extra brightness of the QLED makes it a better choice for our bright living room. Considering the price difference, I think the TCL's I have are fantastic. Not a single issue with all 3 TV's, they all work great.

@Sawyer C. Thank you so much for this detailed response, I really do appreciate it! I've done a little adjustingn and the picture does look amazing. I played a couple of the LG OLED test videos yesterday and was blown away. I like the remote, I like WebOS, I actually like everything about it. My one and only real gripe I'm trying to overcome is squeezing just a bit more brightness out of it when I'm playing Xbox series x. I was playing MotoGP 22 last night and there were certain parts of the track that I had a hard time seeing that were covered in clouds. I ended up switching out game optimizer mode and going into Vivid, and then it was plenty bright enough then. I've been playing around with OLED pixel brightness, contrast and stuff like that. It's my one and only gripe, and only last night did it really actually bother me, it's been plenty bright enough in all other situations. Maybe I'll try disabling Dolby Vision on the series x today since that game uses DV, perhaps regular HDR will be a bit brighter. I was considering the s95b because of the added brightness, but all of the horror stories of bent panels and faulty panels have kept me away from that qd OLED offering. Tizen OS looks like a hot mess too.
If you have any tips to squeeze just a bit more brightness out of it while gaming, I'd really appreciate it. It's an awesome TV, and I got it at a great price right before Black Friday, $1,699 for the 65".

They are also the ones that we and I always see being returned months or even 1 year after, some wanting to get warrantee from the store. On which some are rejected after it being to long. And yes those brands are cheap for a reason. For TV and Monitors. NEVER cheapen out on the purchase and never overspend. Trust your gut on the brand and watch reviews.

The best advice you can give is to avoid LG at all costs,
Web OS is complete trash and has been nothing but a headache, nobody should buy LG at all it's garbage.
Also my C1 had a defective panel right out of the box and needed a new panel day one.
but the worst thing is web OS, its hot garbage.
Alexa doesn't work at all, not with my echo or the remote and I have to still use a wifi universal remote hub on a 2021 TV, this is fucking ridiculous.
The TV doesn't remember my audio output preference and constantly reverts to the TV speakers instead of routing to my AVR, the CEC is pure shit and doesn't work at all it's totally broken just like the voice assistant integration.
And the upscalling sucks and looks like ass.
It also doesn't work right with my sync box and I have to constantly power off the TV and my sync box multiple times or else the TV will make snow on the screen, the TV's processing is shit and fucks up the signal and makes snow all the time, and I am using certified cables too, I know the TV can work with this sync box because it does work some of the time but other times I have to power cycle everything multiple times to get it to display without snow.
I wish I never bought thit sPOS and just waited and got the A80J which went on sale for the same price I paid for this garbage one week after my return window was closed, I will NEVER buy LG again, their software is trash.
The TV is hot garbage and the real kicker is that I could have go the Bravia for the same price instead of this trash.
INB4 b,b,b,but muh picture, there is more to TV than just the picture quality like an absolute shit fire of a software experience and an OS that looks and feels like something designed in the late 90's but with all the bugs and flaws of modern day software.

Brand loyalty matters, but only if you like decent brands. Regardless of what anyone tells you *Sony* is the best TV. Always has been. But, you pay a premium because, ya know, you get what you pay for.
Vizio, HiSense, Roku, Sharp, Insignia and Philips are cheap TVs, both in price and quality. If price matters most, then go with them, they’re not all terrible. But look before you buy if you can (i.e. Walmart showroom).
Samsung and LG are good mid-price TVs, better than the others.
Remember, all TVs are made in a handful of factories in China, so for low-end TVs, branding barely matters.

I have LG 55nano86 series and i hate the that the local dimming sucks. I always have a terrible experience on dark scene since it has terible local dimming and blooming issue.

    • @TechWithKG

That TV would be an upgrade but you will still experience blooming in challenging scenarios, the only way to beat this is to get an OLED. Look at 55 inch A90J for $999 or LG B2 65 inch for $1299 if possible. However if you’re ok with LCD still x90k is an upgrade but expect to be disappointed at times with dark scenes that have a lot of little light elements in it like candles or torches.

check out the sony x85k. Its been in my radar because of being the only latest tv at 43 inch with 120 hz 4k. No doubt its pricey. But hell I'd take this as a bedroom tv than anything over 50 inch for the sake of saving space. Its also the cheapest tv model with flicker free tech and 0 hz backlight flickering so your eyes will thank you. Most tvs have over 600hz flickering every second which causes headaches just as a heads up if your sensitive to stuff like this as I am.

I've had multiple TCL tvs and frankly I think they're junk. None of them lasted more that a few years before they quit working. They are cheaper for a reason. Not because they're just nice guys trying to be competitive. The quality in parts and performance is not up to par. You put them side by side and you'll see the difference quickly. Especially the LG C2. If your looking for cheap to meet a budget, then yes they're great. I think it'd be worth it to just save up a bit longer tho.

this is why I tend to buy the cheapest tv on sale. Its going to end up in the trash at the end of its lifetime like every electronic component. Rather throw away anything under $400 than a $1000+ component. And no just because its cheaper does not mean it will be in the trash sooner. Had a $100 emerson bought in 2013 during walmart black friday deal that I just got rid of.... It outlasted many of my 50+ inch tvs in the living room....
Cannot handle buying a $4,000+ tv to only be outdated tech within a 5 year time period. What a huge waste of time and money. And to toss it in the trash in 10 years is such a disgust of an investment even if you were a billionaire.
