  • DJI launched their latest firmware upgrade for the DJI Mic 2 on August 9, 2024, exciting as the release notes have said they've updated the EQ settings inside the transmitters to make them sound fuller and brighter. DJI mic 2 was known to have a muddy/boxy sound out of the box when compared to other brands such as Rode and even recent Hollyland mics. Will this update change the sound profile that much better, we dive in from a casual consumer POV in this video.

Nice video! Unfortunately I'm one of the many who can't get this simple job completed and working. Looking at the DJI forum and others it seems there are many of us unable to update our DJI Mic 2. :(

I recently switched over one the mic2 from zoom f2 and was disappointed with how they sound via wireless transmission. The onboard file sounds a lot better. Look forward to updating to see if this bridges that gap.

It sounds like they added more bass. But honestly if you're not doing a direct comparison they all sound ok. If you watch on a phone or laptop that don't have much bass you're not going to be able to hear any difference.

Nice start! Any idea on how you would up the Pocket 3 with transmitter only?

At the Osmo Pocket 3 firmware page through DJI's website, if you scroll down a bit, you will see the update for the Pocket 3 DJI Mic 2 Transmitter Firmware. After downloading it, it seems like the file is the same as the one I've mentioned in the video, so I would safely assume you can update the transmitter by itself without the need of the receiver (I'll use the file from the Pocket 3 downloads page just in case though).

How do you update the firmware if you ONLY run the transmitter (a la: with the Pocket 3)? I don't have a receiver.

Great question, I looked into the firmware page of the Osmo Pocket 3 through DJI's website and if you scroll down, you will see the update for the Pocket 3 DJI Mic 2 Transmitter Firmware.
