How could this help your videography workflow? 🎥
Mount this on a traditional video camera so it's not tethered to an SDI cable which would require having a utility person.
it would be great if it picks up the video transmission from my dji mini 4 pro
Can you test the intercom feature? Is it a partyline type of system? How do you control intercom mics? Are they on all the time. Do you need to hold to button down to speak or is there a latch feature? How loud it is so can you hear director if you are filming in rock concert?
In any Transmission system there is going to latency. The question is what is acceptable. This system works well, irregardless of the latency.Compact, concise, works well and is supported well.(so far)
Nice video mate and DJI killed it again! Would have liked to see a bit more situations/examples. Keen to get one for my doco work.
Nice! I just subscribed to your channel. Your e-book looks like it might help me. I want to move into more doc related stuff.
@@chosenideahandle Thank you mate!!
this is a great news for Blackmagic camera users who want to monitor their frame with a smartphone instead of ipad
😂😂😂😂
I always use the raveneye with the dji app without the gimbal works perfect.its small and works fine for monitoring.
raveneye is better. has more features. just less range
Was going to buy Hollyland DJI saved me , 3 km of wireless transmitter Terrific product
There definitely have some clever clogs at DJI.
Great video Sam. I'll be doing a video later this month on an sub $100 option arriving here this week, so this space is heating up. Shooting myself I don't even bother with a monitor anymore. I'm usually monitoring myself with my phone or tablet, although transmission is sketchy.
i wish they'd allow active track to work when connected to the rs4 pro. absolute dealbreaker
Great video mate, well presented. I'm liking the look of this and might have to look into to further. I like the idea of it controlling the gimbal, that's gonna be helpful. When using the app, can you adjust focus with it? When filming myself I try to focus/use auto focus but I'm still getting footage with the camera hunting. I might have to dig out my old shutter release cable!
I love to see a video on how to set it up and what it could be used for
Can you compare this with the Hollyland Mars 4k, and any other transmitters you have
Next level for Videography! 💯
Hi - Could you connect more tarnsmitters (f.e. 3 Transmitters) to one Receiver to switch between the cams on a multicam interviewshoot for the director - I've seen a hint on the dji site for the app on the tablett via usbc ? - Thanx - love your style !
I’ve the same question 😊
I'd like to know as well
You know monopolies wouldn't be so bad if they all did it the DJI way. Keeping client needs at the forefront without compromising quality or design.🔥
I’m curious why only use as a monitor. Is the signal purely video without audio? I need a device that can transmit a HD 30p stream to a livestream multicam switcher from a remote camera. I know there are industry-standard devices that do this but they’re typically top dollar.
I think there's a reason the ones that can do that are top dollar. You're going to need a very stable connection for an actually reliable live stream feed. Also the latency is going to cause an issue.
On a second note, why do you need the audio from the actual camera? Why not have a separate microphone that's not in camera? Either way, I just think this is too low budget for an actual live streaming situation.
wow, very nice! About a week ago i was thinking that DJI Transmission is too expensive... And now i see this!
One question by the way - can it control the gimbal like RavenEye with ActiveTracking?
Very cool, Sam. Been watching your videos for a while now and just had to subscribe! Your content is really helpful. I need to know the rig set up you have on your RS3 with the monitor at 0:54 in your video. I have been trying to find something that works well for me. Thanks!
Hey. So glad the videos are helping. Check out my channel for the lidar handheld rig 👌🏻🎥 thanks for watching!
@@SamHolland thank you!
Hello. Could you test if it works at 1080 50 I? I can't find information if the transmitter allows the transmitter to work at 1080 50 I. Thank you very much
Great video but it seems to be like all the others this is my 1st time using ones of these and I brought it for broadcasting when using the drone on set is you get time would you mind doing a video of setting this up and going though all the functions many thanks 👍🏼
Raveneye: “am I a joke to you”
Isn’t it basically the raven eye? I’m confused
@@pauldean9070the raveneye is much shorter range (I lost connection around 50ft away unobstructed) and is a standalone unit that connects to your phone
raveneye has more features. just less range. no active track with dji transmission
How different is it from the Raveneye?
Just better range or any other new features?
i think Raveneye is not exactly a transmitter as it should be - as i know it can just send feed to mobile devices, there is no HDMI output
no, this transmitter doesn't work with active track like raveneye can
Hi, I guest it work by default with the Ronin 4D, thank you for sharing!
Did you say 80 milliseconds latency? That's useless for focus pulling. But next to that it looks perfect for directors
the website claims 35ms... but he did say 80...
80ms is 2 frames tho. Not sure if it's unusable
80 ms latency puts it on par with the Hollyland Mars 400S Pro which offers most of the same features except the USB features of this product. I would never use it for focus pulling with 80ms latency. That is precisely why I went with a Teradek unit instead.
@@The-Logician the website states 35ms
@@The-Logician latency has a cost! :)
Nice video. Keep up the good work.
Would have been nice to see if it actually works. Feature wise this is a just a Hollyland alternative, but the only thing that really matters is does it stay connected everytime. Raveneye is terrible.
Wondering if you can conect multiple cameras with it?
Is there an anamorphic dequeeze in the new app. That’s still missing in the raveneye
good question
I didn’t see one 😔
no, and no active track
Nice but if kit Sam does it connect to the Ninja V and work
Like a dream 👌🏻
@@SamHolland cool might be tempted to go for it with my pre-ordered R5 MKii and R1 😉
@HiethGeorge ooooo 😂👏🏻
@@SamHolland 😁
I was just starting to pick potential monitors to get for my a6700, would this be a good substitute if I used it with a iPhone 14 Pro Max?
can i use the high bright dji monitor to receive the signal?
Great review! cheers for putting this together.
Hi Sam. Was wondering if you could pair the new DJI SDR with the old transmitter, or would that not work? I have the older TX/RX combo but am struggling to justify buying more $1,600 receivers haha
I love the fact that we are getting new tech but its actually so disappointing that DJI literally repackaged the DJI RAVENEYE which could essentially do the same.
not RAVENEYE SDr transmission is a brand new product
Could you use this for live streams?
1 transmitter is capable of sending signal to multiple receivers, but 1 receiver is capable of receiving multiple (cameras) transmissors? i want to live broadcast with multiplecameras and i dont know if this is the product i need.
Cool... Don't need it. Overkill. But I can dream... Good video b/c hey, I should learn about gear even if it is not what I need. DJI rocks.
Can you use it for photos? Taking photos and showing them immediately on a big screen?
please I want to know too!
Interesting product. How is this different from raveneye besides the range and multiple monitors? Can it work with lidar and control it similar to the og dji transmission and monitor?
This is my question as throughout the video, I just kept thinking "the Raveneye can do all these things". The only different I can see is this has SDI in
Ditto! I have the raveneye (cheap, used) and it does the essentials with an even lighter setup both on and off gimbal. No doubt the SDR has greater range, control features etc. And the mounts provided look really nifty. But in my amateur one man band situation, I feel no temptation to replace the old bird with this.
@@earlgreybeard yeah. I agree. If this would work with the LiDAR similarly to the transmission (depth radar) then that would be great. Especially when shooting the car roller shots. Would be nice not to have to get the 2500 one just for those controls
Raven eye is pretty basic. It's for knowing what the shot looks like more than anything. The latency and quality is dreadful. Which is fine because I use it for checking an overhead shot is framed well or the feed is still good from across the room. But you couldn't use it for actually monitoring the shot properly.
@@jambononi That's pretty much what Sam was using the SDR for too in this video. I also use raveneye for gimbal tracking shots via the app. Raveneye does everything I need as well as I need it. Not saying that the heavier, more expensive SDR would have better facilities if you needed them. I am sure it does. I just don't 🤣
Doesn’t the raveneye do 80% of this? And you can use it without a gimbal right?
Will it be available 😅n stores also ! Or like the focus pro creator combo ? Nowhere to be found or purchased !
Brutal para un crew chico, vamos a ver si lo probamos
Can this be used for photography for shooting and trasmitting the photos?
Nice presentation.
I use sony A1 with ronin 2. Can I check the gigel and camera?
Filming wildlife.
I might be wrong but, can't you already do this using the DJI RS4 Pro, your cellphone, and the Ronin App?
What about the Raveneye? Isn't it almost the same thing or do you need both?
informative Video Sam.
Thanks John
The transmitter has a active cooling. Unfortunately it is not usable if you want to record clean audio or better to say it can cause issues in my opinion :( Just tested it
Would this work for a three camera setup in small hip hop venue? I will be plugged directly into DJ for audio, so don’t want video latency
How long does it work on such np-f battery?
Hey Sam, can the software send out a stream to youtube? Will it act as a UVC device?
Well, ronin SC have control by phone, they have even trackin. Now DJI add old feature from not suportem product to new accesories.
What is the name of the app? I couldn't find anything in the play store. Is it only ios?
35ms of latency will be hell for any first ac. But super cool for the price!
If you don't need more than 600ft of transmission there's a system for under $100 coming, unfortunately the latency is 70ms. These will all drop in price rapidly over the next two years.
So you need a TX and RX or you can use with TX only on camera and wifi with app on the phone (without RX) too?
Interesting.
Pretty cool device
What is the latency ? I doubt it is good for focus pulling
80ms, still not enough for focus pulling
@@antonior.4869 exactly , so I don’t really see an added value with this device , the range maybe but who needs a range of 3 km for a director monitor or a client Monitor ! there is cheaper and less latency , out there with probably better build quality than the DJI who is making everything from plastic lately .
Hi got a question, I am looking to purchase this system, I currently use an A7Siii and an A7IV, I use a alien hydra rig ( I do a lot of car cinematography)
My main question is, can I connect my cameras to a Apple tablet and have all the camera functions on the tablet ? Just like the OG DJI transmission ?
Main reason I really need this to be honest, for focus leaking and monitoring of meters.
If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it
Thanks
Hello question so if i put the transmiter in a ipad can i switch to many receivers righ can you make a video about this because i don't know how to switch between the cameras
No one is mentioning that it doesn't work out of the box and the desktop app you have to use is having issues with my mac.
Does it have the function for the gimbal to follow / point to the receiver when the transmitter is attached to the gimbal?
I know that you can have multiple receivers which is great, where I have struggled is that I am a solo shooter, so all I want is multiple transmitters and one receiver which is able to switch between them. I just one one screen where I can switch between cameras.
Is that possible, or do we know another low footprint way of doing this?
yes you can
eyeing on this now!!
can u control Sony camera settings (iso/iris/aperture) only with RX and TX units and a monitor , without using the ronin app or that is not possible ?
Can you use broadcast mode via WIFI? If so can you connect unlimited phones or tablets via WiFi?
How much better is it vs existing raveneye?
Entre esos y Hollyland Pyro S, cual me recomiendan? mañana hago una compra! y bueno necesito decidirme!
Pyro S
Can you also change camera settings using this?
Does it transmit audio as well?
Can you still mount it whilst shooting vertical?
how do you like the sdr compared to the hollyland 4k?
I’ve got the raveneye for using my phone as a monitor. Is there reason to upgrade to something like this?
Not if you're happy with the RavenEye. But in my experience the RavenEye is very very basic. The connection is unreliable, low range, and is more or less a reference for the camera. It doesn't really allow you to monitor it fully. So you can't do anything other than see what the image looks like. I use mine for overhead shots or just to know camera B or C is still rolling/correct exposure etc. but I wouldn't rely on it for anything more than that.
How’s it different than the acsoon nano?
Is it possible to use the Reciever device to add a input signal to a laptop?
Wow 👌 💯💯👌
I need to get more money. 😂 Dji only taking my money ❤
got the sdr tranmission - but the fan noise is insanely loud on the TX - is yours?
Can you use WiFi while in control mode?
Can someone dive into the "One-to-one call" thingy, like can it be integrated into a existing Comms network
How is the audio quality compared to the shocking quality on the "Pro" version - I hope they fixed it.
can this use 1080p And 1080i ?
DOPE!
Is it compatible with the RS3?
Cool.
Can I control a Sony alpha dslr with it like the original version??????????????????
What’s the latency?
Can you use Livestream?
are you out of your mind calling DJI Transmission as budget friendly? This thing cost 2.4K Euros
Sick
Can you use this on a Ronin 4D ?
Budget??
Brilliant as always DJI I just so so innovative and this product looks fantastic. Thanks for a great review. We can finally say goodbye to that overpriced piece of rubbish called Atomos 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But does it work for Android?
The latency renders this system unusable for the professional.. Be warned!
The website lists it at 35 ms
What, 35ms?
this isn’t meant to be focus pulling but simply monitoring with more sources and longer range cheaper price with higher stability
At 60fps with a latency of 35 ms, you’d be 2 frames behind. I’m struggling to see how that’d be an issue, please enlighten me?
35 milliseconds
This is a Raven Eye on steroids lol.
It's a glorified new edition of the RavenEye transmitter.
80ms over phone latency, not good enough for phone use.
honestly, mars 4k looks more impressive
Yeah, but the latency is twice as bad. A deal breaker for some.
Adapted Raveneye anyone ?
sick advertisement bro
