Thanks for the awesome demonstration of our all new Ventus unit! We're happy to see that it is getting premiered on Schrodinger's Box. We appreciate your support and the stellar content!
You bet! It is a tremendous tool with tremendous value and outstanding quality. the flow meter seals the deal (no pun intended). I have now used this device about 8 times and in fact just yesterday (off camera) I diagnosed a leaking Leak Detection Pump using the flow meter - the leak was so small you couldn’t see smoke getting past the pump into the vent but the leak detector gauge found it with no problem. even blowing through the pump you would be unable to tell it was leaking- it felt sealed but it wasn’t!! tremendous tool that pays for itself after one use!!
Yes I did talk to them about the fact that many people just bought the previous model and might be upset to see that not even 2 months later there is a new one launching. they did say they would work out something for guys like you but I don’t know what it is. the new model is eons better for sure. and I think it’s only $30 more.
I wrote an iATN article on this system years ago. As you might have realized the system doesn't test for leaks so it has no need for a vent valve. In the article I broke down the entire operation of it including how the flow sensor is powered up. Back then the parts weren't available in the aftermarket and had to be purchased at the dealer. I still have to laugh a bit because after spending the time to have this system totally figured out the dealer part was only sold as the solenoid and flow sensor together as an assembly. At least now you can get them separately.
It always surprises me how quickly you navigate through a diagnosis without going to service data. The way alldata have raised their prices, that's a good thing.
My local library offers an online database for repair data. It’s actually pretty good for wiring diagrams and trouble code theory and operation. Otherwise if I need to, I am onto purchasing data from all data, Mitchell or manufacture 2-3 day subscription.
LMAO! I notice you referred to him as a "listener" not a "viewer". Would this be the same asshat who can diagnose any car issue just by listening from his lawn chair? 🤣
Good call and an efficient diagnosis. Only thing I probably would've done extra before the call is seeing if you could find a specs on the sensor online, for most potentiometer based sensors I've found you can usually find pretty good specs on ranges of values and what resistances they correlate to, as well as total resistance across 5v and GROUND pins. That said, I'm only usually working on one car a day!
Great idea. I did not show it on camera but I did do the resistance check on old solenoid after filming. The spec is around 140ohms and the sensor had 1.6KOhms lol.
this it the first time watching all your videos, that I found the quality to be like using a tape over and over for recording, real blurry , but still educational just could not make out the figures on the scanner.
hahaha it’s the best pico de gallo you ever tasted. perfectly hot and tons of cilantro and slightly heavy garlic- all made from fresh jalapeños and tomatoes grown from her garden. you can never have too much cilantro as far as I am concerned!!
Yes. I love launch too but so far Autel wins. Now, Launch recently contacted me about a new scanner they believe will give Autel a run for the money- literally. will examine and report on my findings when I try it out.
@@SchrodingersBox thank you very much for your feedback. Could you please give me an advice , which book would cover Automotive sensors and actuators and how can they be diagnosed ? I am looking for real good and informative book that explains function of them, electrical diagnosis and with the oscilloscope. Thank you in advance 🙏
Hello sir, thank you so much for sharing this video. It helped me understand a lot for my truck which has the exact same code. I swapped the solenoid with a new unit, but the check engine light and the code keeps going. I don't have a scan tool to check the numbers, and I am at a bit of a loss. Do you have any recommendations to troubleshoot the source of the problem? I am under the impression it could be a wiring issue, but I am not certain. If you have any suggestions, I would be so grateful for your time. And thank you so much for sharing the other video of a Ranger with a bad fuel pump. That helped us so much)
glad the video helped. before you swapped the solenoid you would have of course checked the voltage on the solenoid ground since it’s ground side controlled. what voltage did you read?
what data do you have? if you replaced everything what was the data showing each part was faulty? what is your voltage at the vent solenoid? what is your purge valve duty cycle?
I am not very imaginative so the best I can come up with is: Vicki the Videographer - sh1te I know 🤣. Hopefully someone else will do better - won’t be difficult I know 🤣
@@SchrodingersBox lol makes sense cause im 6 foot and can just see over my 99 ranger 😋 good video tho as always id love more ranger stuff if at all possible so i can find good info if i need it 🤣
@@SchrodingersBox Holy crap! I knew you were tall, but damn! My best friend is 6'5" also and I'm 5'5" so we're quite the odd couple. Years ago before I owned my own shop I worked for a guy who was really tall as well and inevitably he would hit his head on the lift when he would come out to talk to me. He would bitch about how short I was and having to have the lift so low. I told him it was a sign to leave me alone and let me do my job. It was all jokingly and rather amusing.
The only reason you would need a new camerawoman or (gender neutral "videographer") is if Vicky no longer wants to do it. Otherwise I don't see a problem with the video. So anyway, with no vent valve or tank pressure sensor, it seems the only thing that monitors the system is the flow sensor?
Oh FFS, if you're going to promote a product, be honest about it. That little show was obviously not impromptu. The guy had the price and availability ready in the comments. Unsub.
yes that’s what you do when you promote a product. you describe the features, and then you tell the price and availability. SMH. And of course it wasn’t impromptu- when I received the product I knew I was going to use it in a video the first chance I got. So once I saw this was an evap code and I could use the product, you pause the filming and set up for the scene to intro the new product. That’s how product promotion works. it’s not like I was fixing a car while recording and suddenly a new product fell from the sky into the shot mid-recording. you should make videos and then you would understand how this works. I was not paid for doing this promotion. I just love the tool is all. that’s as honest as a promotion can be.
Sorry but you do not know the background on this. You are absolutely completely wrong. I was contacted by Autoline Pro about 3 months ago regarding testing their new device and setting up a potential agreement for promotion like I did with the Shop Series machine. I declined the offer because I do not want to commercialize the channel with too many contracted product promotions. I told them that I would be happy to test the machine and give feedback and maybe just do a video of it on my own if I liked it. They let me keep the machine as a gift with no expectations of any videos or promotion and in fact they specifically asked me NOT to promote it or do any videos of it at the time because it wasn’t launched yet. Let me repeat that- I was specifically asked NOT to do any videos on it because it wasn’t launched yet. In using the machine about 4 times prior to this video I loved it so much I decided to do a “free” video about it and I asked them status on the launch because I was going to offer to do a review of it on my own as a “freebie”. I did not get a reply. So I decided during this video when opportunity to use it came up that since I didn’t have any contractual agreements and a reasonable amount of time passed, I went rogue and did this video expecting at the very least it might help to hype their product launch. I did not know it already launched at the time (one of my other viewers advised me they already pre-ordered one in the comments). I did not and in fact I still do not know the price of the instrument. That’s exactly what happened. In fact autoline pro has no idea about this video yet.

Oh man I'm really glad I saw this. I just got the old smoke machine without the flow meter. I'm returning it immediately to get that ventus.

How bout "V2" - Vicki video. You logically fixed the problem and confirmed it with a new cool tool! Tacos tonight!

Yes it is!!!!

Good to see some content from you. 🙂
Somewhere out there, one of your listeners is sitting back and smiling with glee that you didn’t check ground at the sensor first

There is actually no such single book. You have to read many of them. I have probably read 100.

@@SchrodingersBox thank you so much for getting back to me. The voltage for it measured 13.80vdc. The positive measured just under 14.00vdc.
And was this voltage on the ground during engagement of the solenoid or when solenoid was at rest?
