  • Just one hour from Pattaya is this hidden gem of an island, Koh Samae San. It's not as well known as some islands, partly because it's under Navy control and people think it's difficult to get to.
    It's not! Just get down to the ticket office here:
    maps.app.goo.gl/VXF3qByr5Wc2v...
    Then follow simple steps in this video and you'll find that it's really easy to get to! And once you arrive you'll find breathtaking views and a turquoise blue sea.
    The only downside for foreigners is that "dual pricing" is in operation to get there; it will cost you 600 baht rather than the 300 baht Thais pay. Annoying, but if you can get over that, the island is really cheap, clean andhas well-organised activities when you arrive.
    It's famous for snorkeling, and there are plenty of fish and coral to see. There's also some wild pigs and monkeys!
    You can't stay overnight, so how about an unforgettable day trip? This video shows you how to make the most of it!

      Hi Sandgroper. It's a really good day out for the family. They'll love it. And it looks to be one of the better places in the area for snorkeling!

    Dual pricing. Always the best aspect of Thailand. Aside from that though, it really looks gorgeous and not at all overcrowded. I am also just loving the hat.

      Thanks , David. As you know I hate dual pricing. I can't see how it's worth the bad feeling it creates! Other than that everything was just about perfect. The Thai people on the Island couldn't have been more helpful. Despite the hat!

      Thanks, Bigbopper. Definitely not as well known and largely unspoiled. Good question about drink. I believe they don't sell alcohol on the island. I can't vouch for what people put in their water bottles tho....!

    Went there Monday nice place - price includes a lift from ferry to the beach - waters not the cleanest when snorkelling

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the update, Glyn. Yes, that's worth knowing that they have the electric buggies to the beach. Otherwise, it's a fair walk. Pity if the water isn't that clean. Certainly the beach is kept almost spotless!

      @Glyn69 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @balloonchaser the beach water appears clean but people.qho.went out on the boat yo snorkel and I have the go pro footage seems not as clean as by the beach - maybe debri off the coral or currents effecting the water- the trip is 50 baht includes mask and snorkel

      I just bought tickets at the counter. But try to get there early if you can. Buy a ticket, then maybe grab a drink at the coffee shop!

    has anyone done the snorkelling here. I would like to see some beautiful corals and colorful fish

      I spoke to a couple of people who went snorkeling there. Also some scuba diving shops organise diving trips there. I think there's some fish and coral to view. Pleasant rather than spectacular, was what I was told. Anyone else tried it?

      Thanks, Paul. I've been called lots of different names, but most aren't repeatable, let alone suitable for a TH-cam channel!

    hi, thanks for your information. transportation in pattaya is way too expensive 😢 from pattaya hotel to Khao ma jo pier. over 1000baht for 1 way. is there any way can be cheaper? As we are foreigners.
    thanks for your information again.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Many thanks for your comment. I don't think I paid that much. Did you try the Bolt App or the Grab Taxi App? They do tend to be less expensive. Also you may wish to look on Facebook for Bangkok taxi groups, because there are some local taxi firms on there that appear to charge less (although I haven't used them personally). Don't forget to book for your return journey too, because I think trying to find a taxi from there on your return could be stres ful for you. Thanks again for the comment!

      Thanks Tony. Good idea to bring your own bits of equipment. Although theirs looked in good condition can't be too careful these days.
