CounterAttack is one of those songs that it's hard to tell whether the song was written and the cutscenes made to fit it, or the other way around, but it plays in like 3 different cutscenes in XBC2 and is cut to each one to fit it near-perfectly. The back and forth between piano and guitar with the epic rises and somber lulls gives it an emotional texture that not a lot of other songs on the OST have.
I can't believe Mario Bros. tried to rip off this song as their own. The heartlessness of gaming sometimes, man. Joking aside, Counterattack goes really hard, one of the quintessential XC2 songs!
Hey man, love all your stuff and all of your collabs on TH-cam! By chance that you see this, what pedals exactly do you use to get that amazing tone in this video, and do you think it would sound as good on a Fender Telecaster? Any advice is appreciated and hope your day is well sir :)
thanks so much! For this video, I'm going straight into my audio interface and using the Neural DSP John Petrucci plugin. But any Neural DSP plugins sound pretty awesome! Fender Telecasters are great guitars and sound awesome. For a sound that's a little bit heavier like mine, I'd recommend checking out a stacked single coil to replace the one in your bridge such as a Seymour Duncan Hotrails. Standard tele pickups aren't as strong as that and you need strong pickups to get a heavy tone in most cases. Hope that helps!
I might not be first to ask, but what guitar are you using? Cuz I’m looking for a guitar that can sound just like what you’re using lol. Maybe someone has some advice what to look for?
this guitar here is a LTD EC-1000 and I love it! The main thing that gives it the tone it has are the pickups on it which are EMG 81's. You can put those on anything and it'll sound really good for metal! The rest of the choices on a guitar depend on the type of feel that you like and also if you want a vibrato bar or not. hope that helps!

@@mdssonic EMG81 is a pickup. the little square things you see next to my picking hand that pick up the sound of the strings. I'd recommend any LTD Eclipse model similar to mine but a lower model that you can score for that budget
this song is amazing just like most music in xenoblade 2, they will also mean alot more if you have played the game, too bad simple minded humans cant handle pyra/mythra's designs ;)
