- Clarence Seedorf was one such player seemingly capable of it all, handed any task in the engine room of a number of Europe’s leading clubs the former Netherlands international was more than capable of performing the job at hand.
Clarence Seedorf began his career at Ajax, after being scouted by Johan Cruyff’s scouting school ‘Urgent Scoutingteam’. He made his first-team debut for the Dutch giants aged just 16 years and 242 days in November 1992, becoming their youngest ever player at the time.

One of the best midfielders ever. He also stands out as a well educated man.
Had the pleasure of meeting Seedorf in Chicago and Detroit in 2010. Milan played the Chicago Fire, I ran into him at a Macy's. First time in my life I was star struck and mind you I've met people like Arnold, Stallone, Pesci. I was like, how the hell does no one else recognize this man? The man who along with Kaka and other legends took out United in the semi final a few years prior to winning the CL! One that will always stick out is my cousin, could ask any question but asks Seedorf, why are you shopping at Macy's when you live in Milan? lol. He needed new shoes. Nonetheless, we continued to talk about football or soccer here in the US for a few more mins. One of the best experiences I've ever had.
Seedorf was a champion everywhere he played, from the minute he started playing in the senior team to the moment he retired, in any position he was asked to play in. He'd be my first pick any day on any team under any condition.
Yeah he’d be my first pick too, then R9
Exactly. Even when he went to Brazil he was dominating. It was crazy. He is probably top 2 best milan players ever. This guy played in attact as a 10, then as winger then as a central midfielder, then as a defensive midfielder then as right back.. Once Kaka said that Seedorf is the most skilled and most talented player he ever played with.
What a underrated player. His vision and physique was unbelivable.
Very good content, you deserved more subscriber, Grazie.
Incredibly underrated player. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it.
That Ajax team back in 1995....what a team!!! One of the best team I ever watched!!!
Me as Ajax fan was at time in so so so proud, it was a joy to watch every game, that was once in a live time.
Yeah I can still dream the line up… it was 13 regular players GK Van der Sar, RB Reiziger, CB Blind, DM Rijkaard, LB Frank de Boer, RM Ronald de Boer, RM Seedorf, LM Davids, AM Litmanen, RW Finidi, LW Overmars, ST Kluivert and ST Kanu.
Rijkaard was already a legend, but most players were still really young. Litmanen was the MVP, an intelligent goal scoring number 10 who was perfect for the 3-4-3 system they played
@@gweah7821 Totally true
in my all time top 3 favourite players ❤
You have great taste in midfielders
Most underrated player ever.
Seedorf was best all round midfielder and is usually underrated. Thanks for the video
True emotions when seedorf was crying .
Yeah, you can see what it meant to him
Underrated to be fair. Possible top 10 of all time list for sure
Seedorf was considered to be a better midfielder than Zidane before the '98 World Cup.
Thanks my friend, even after world cup 98 , clarrence seedorf is far better than zidane,
He arguably is because of his speed
Not only his vision and Shooting, but also strength, stamina, dribble and technique was the best
Great footballer great personality, Thanks Clarence
I don't know even how to rate him. Gave me joy
Seedorf is a wonderful player no doubt
One of the most underrated players ever!
Underrated by who? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Everyone who understand football regards him as one of the best ever.
Something definitely wrong with the ratingsystem and the users of that system. It is like comparing ratings of James Brown and Justin Bieber.
Get rid of that system or fix it.
@@Hell-Awaitspeople don't talk about him as much when it comes to the best midfielders of all time. People now would rate Kdb ahead of him lol
Very heavy shots. Why I loved him. One of the best CMs
Seedorf era UM GIGANTE!!!
What a player! Thanks for the reminder.
One of the best midfielders ever.
The best Surinamese born players who couldn’t play for his home country Suriname 🇸🇷
Suriname would be top 30 fifa ranking country if they all played for them.
Who couldn't? You mean who wouldn't.
Me and my peers used to call him MATURE coz of his calmness on the ball and magnificent passing ability and high IQ in reading the game with composure. Seedorf was an exceptional talent who is underrated
He was better than Zidane. Only missing thing was World Cup.
Strongest midfielder of all time, Milan legend, Top 10 midfielders easy
Of all time? Nope. Rijkaard : 1 Euro Cup. Mattheus : 1 WC. Pirlo : 1 WC. Maybe for club
@@nurlhaqchaniago6143He’s better than Pirlo
Amazing content , i would love a video on Totti in future
I will surely do the video on Totti in the future so stay tuned.
Seedorf had like 100 skills compared to Zidane with only 5 skills that would come ahead 100skills of Seedorf...
It was great watching him play for milan 😊.
What a star 🔥🔥💪
Clarence Seedorf played during the golden age of football, the proof being that the "Ballon d'Or"changed every year, so many great players were involved.
If Seedorf had had an international career like his club career, he would have been better than Zidane.
But he remains the most underrated player in the history of football.
Top 5 midfielders of all time
Great video and testament to a footballing legend.
Perhaps it would work better without the robotic narrative.
One of the main reason why Milan won the second UEFA Championship was Seedorf. He was perfect in some critical match with Kaka and Inzaghi.
Big up ur self "Greatman" ❤
A dream teammate for anyone ..
Seedorf was the man!
yes yes yes❤thats what i beleave ever.not every could be footballer.
My player! Love 💖 bro! 🥇👑❤️🎯🔥👍💪👌💯🏆
In my opinion, the best playmaker I've ever seen since Patrick Vieira.
Best Playmaker? Lionel Messi. During Vieira : Zidane..
@@nurlhaqchaniago6143 No. Zidane is overrated, everyone knows this. Messi isn't the best playmaker, he is the best second striker, come beat me to it because he isn't a natural playmaker just like Ozil used to it. Yes, Zidane is a very good playmaker but the best? I would doubt that. People overlooked players contribution on the pitch where they can only talk about their feats outside the pitch, such as an individual award, for example. This is why Ballon D'Or isn't an objective parameter to determine the best player.
@@kohikappuZidane overrated?!?!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You're high as a satellite...
@@Hell-Awaits He really is.
@@kohikappuSeedorf isn't a playmaker... He is the epitome of a box to box, and perfected that role. In that Milan midfield Pirlo and Kaka were the playmakers.
Also, Zidane is not overrated. His first touch, vision, composure and flair are unmatched. He is the best midfielder of all time, unarguably.
Zidane was better, but Seedorf was an excellent midfielder and very underrated.
Let's put it this way - if we look at the trophies won with their teams without individual trophies then Zidane doesn't
even come close to Seedorf because Seedorf won 19 and Zidane won 13. When it comes to goals and assists if we look at their whole carreers then Zidane is better with 122 goals and 130 assists in 633 games in his whole career vs Seedorf's 128 goals and 123 assists in 863 games. So to conclude I do think Zidane is better but by a such a small margin and I also think that Seedorf has every right to be compared with Zidane and every other great midfielder
@@overthinkingfootball. I don't look too much at trophies or stats to be honest. Trophies are a team achievement and stats don't even tell half the story of a player. There's plenty of times I've watched Zidane being the best player on the field by a mile without scoring a goal or giving a direct assist, it happens a lot.
I mostly just on a players overall performances.
The reason i used stats and trophies is because you have to start somewhere. We can't forget stats because they tell part of the story even though they don't tell full story. There were games where Zidane dominated the field and that is absolutely true, but also there were games where Seedorf dominated the field. I agree that Zidane is better but, he is not so much better than Seedorf that you can't compare those two. If you ask me Zidane was better but only by somewhere between 5 - 10%
@@overthinkingfootball. I can accept that. Seedorf was a great player, no doubt 👍
@@overthinkingfootball. Not not not....If you compare individual players you can not measure them by individual trophies: all strikers that won a champions league performed better in champions than Ronaldo Nazario or Ibrahimovic cause they did not win the title? of course, it is ridiculous. Measure then with individual trophies if you want: Zidane two Fifa World Players and one Golden Ball, so 3 years chosen best player in the world by professionals. Seedorf never was even on the podium. Seedorf, despite being one of my favorite players of always, was far from the best midfielder ever: Zidane.
Legend
I’ve literally only seen him score bangers
10+6+8 at the same time!
I only came for to the "specialists 's objectivity"...they never fail to deliver
I love Seedorf
Let us not compare these two players. One aint better or worse than the other. Both are kind of players we won't ever see again.
The best two central midfielders I ever saw were Willem van Hanegem and Willy van der Kuijlen, from the 70's. Forgotten pearls, so injust...
Mooi! Maar de intensiteit is niet te vergelijken! Waanzin!
Top 20 centrocampistas de toda la historia.Así de bueno era Seedorf!
underated af
Seedorf played with great midfielders ( Rui, Costa, Kaka, Ronaldinho....) and was never spending his time on the bench.
Seedorf 💪👍❤
Forzaaaaa Seedorf
Forzaaaaa
Edgar davids was class to.
Whenever people try to compare him and Zidane, an objective conclusion would always go to Zidane, which is highly understandable. But this guy, though relatively low profile than those prominent starts, was the only one who was winning everywhere he played. I guess there is something inside of him, other than how good we know he was, which is not discovered.
As strong defensively as in attack, Seedorf was completely dominating wherever he played. Shot like a Cristiano Ronaldo, stronger than Haaland and intelligence like de Bruyne, Seedorf is easily in the Top 5 midfielders of all time.
better better better better better better better better better better better better better better better better
Yes!
Camavinga reminds me of Clarence
The forgotten Pearl
True Midfield Magician
Clarence was the best in his time
My mum named me after him when she witnessed the France 98 mundial
all the titles he won was because he alone was so worthy of every single one.
He was better than Zidane. Seedorf is the best midfielder of this timeline. Intelligence Tactic, Technical Dribbling, A real game changer. Zidane is surrounded.
Players without marketing
No Seedorf was Not better than Zidane, but he was a real good midfielder one of the better ones.
hes way underrated.................
Seedorf wasn't underrated. Everyone knew he was great, there was just players who did more to get the big individual honours
Very close.. hard to call. Zidane killer instinct maybe push him slightly ahead. Two legends of the game ⚽️
Please behave Zidane was far better
@@paulmichaelrichardson6582 Give a reference match for Zidane before 98 world cup final. Check with Bordeau or with Juventus. Zizou went to Juventus tu support DelPiero who was the leader after Baggio left. You can find refence matchs from Seedorf every months from 1993 till 2014
@@sergeassoua6610what are reference matches?
The fact that every time the question is asked about all the world class midfielders is was he better than Zidane is all you need to know. Zidane is the benchmark.
Seedorf was one of the most talented midfielders ever born but not better than Zidane with all due respect. I support Madrid and AC Milan so i watched him play in 2 clubs and love him so much but Zidane is the best midfielder ever period.
Incredible player
I think Seedorf is different than Zidane in term he has more physical strength than Zidane
These Zidane comparisons are silly. If u saw Zidane you know this is Click bait. Amazing player no doubt tho.
Fuoriclasse assoluto!
Effortlessly used to glide past people without even needing to spring. Live, I've only seen figo do that better. Willy Wonka was truly a one off ⚫🔴
Zidane was AM, but Seedorf was CM. Two different positions.
You are right but even though Seedorf is mostly associated with CM role he also used to play as tradicional trequatista. I video there was a conversation between Seedorf and Marcello Lippi where Lippi said to him "I want you to come to Inter to play behind Ronaldo and Vierri".
Seedorf played as AM in his later years.
while Seedorf had an explosive style with unpredictable outcome
Zidane was the opposite, but you couldn't still get the ball from him
Zidane calmed the game.. like the calm before the storm, he was more consistent
than Seedorf in this manner. so i gotta give it to him
Seedorf was a great player one of the best in the world but Zidane was a world beater.
Seedorf was a greatplayer in Capello's Madrid. He was a little undervalued.I never understood how they let him go, and at a lower price, however, the answer is No, he was not better than Zidane , not at least then, not as raw talent. By numbers perhaps but numbers are just dead data.
always underated in the dutch national team a player like him should has at least 130 caps but he did'nt even end up with 100
There was a lot of drama with the Dutch national squad during his days. He would perform poorly and people would hate him for it. Not sure where the maker of this video was during those years.
@@SevenTheMisgiven The drama was the dutch national squad (and people influencing the team) where at that time a generation of dutch players who refused to follow Seedorf like Milan did at that time. It is deeper than the dutch will admit, because of their racist and nationalistic culture. The elephant in the room they cannot see even if they try.
@@maggotbrain7499 People are perfectly aware that even in the 90s the Dutch footballing association was racist but Davids still performed and so did Kluivert. The rest of your comment is kind of gibberish.
Dutch *players* refused to follow Seedorf the same way a *team* did? Probably wanna work on those kinda things when you're trying to highlight some case.
@@SevenTheMisgiven We all keep performing despite of racism, that is not the point. Racism is mean, but if it don't kill you it makes you stronger, specially in a white culture.
Two best Zizu great by far tho ✌️
JAGUAR PAW
It always annoyed me the way they interviewed him for that third CL win. They couldn’t let him just enjoy the moment.
A.I 😢
Amazing player.
Zidane was from another universe.
Seedorf was far and very far better that Zidane. When Zidane became a great player? It was after his 2 goals in 98 world cup final. France was looking a leader after he won the world cup. Remember, France went to world cup with Dugary has the offensive leader. And Dugary could not stand. France reach final with the work of his defense and defensive midfielders. Remember also Zidane was in Juventus and their he was not the boss. Del Piero was the boss. France media wanted a leader after they won the world cup and they choased the one who scored the goals in the final. From any thing Zidane did even if other player did it before French media was say that it Zidane who create it. I like Zidane but he was over rated after the 2 goals.
Why Seedorf was not called in WC 006 and 2010
Sea DOLPH
Seedorf Under-rated player 💯
Zidane was more complete, won all the club & led his country to international major honors 🏆
Zizou's highlight reel is too much for Seedorf the great💯
zidane didn’t win the quantity however despite playing on loaded teams his whole career
@@bangladeshirealtor zidanes club career wasn’t as great as seedorfs but his international career is one of the very best ever
Complete how?
@6.41
he basically use opponent body to assist himself
Amazing midfielder but was he underrated? Know it seems mad sometimes I get the feeling he was.
Zidane is the best midfielder in the history. Don’t disrespect the legend please
Zidane is the most elegant with the ball at his feet. The casual manner he controlled the ball, skipped tackles coming in, and surged forward... No-one could do that in the grace and style of Zidane!
The only thing I'd say is that Zidane was an attacking biased midfielder. When requested to play box-box, he didn't shirk his defensive duties, but it did detract from his influence in the attack. If choosing between the two for a box-box midfielder, or a defensive midfielder... I'd pick Seedorf
Very very underrated but Zidane is better
I am a fan of Ajax, AC MILAN and Real Madrid. So, I knew the ability of Sedorf since 1995. He played beutiful football. He has everything that a great midfielder to have. However, Zidane is FAR AHEAD. Zidane is not a single player. He is a great team. He is the greatest European Player of all the times.
Zidane crushed the Brazil team of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Kaka, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Dida, and Robinho in 2006 WC.
Zidane crushed the Brazil of Ronaldo, Bebeto, Dunga, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Denilson and Leonardo in the 1998 WC Final.
Zidane is full heated, skilled and a strong Team leader nationally and at the club levels of Juventus and Real Madrid. Thus, no midfielder is at this level.
Sedorf has no good statistics with his national team both at the WC and European Nations Cup.
Have we ever seen a video title saying : "Zidane, better than Seedorf ?". No, so you've got your answer.
Nowbody is better than zidane!
Aw sh¡t … THIS IS A GOOD DEBATE!!! #HalaMadrid #ACMilan
Feel free to join in
the best midfielder ever was Willem van Hanegem ..
for me just as good if not better
Zidane best quality. Best midfielder, Clarence! At all!!
Cruijff was the best
he was ok but people getting a little carried away here.
You have never heard of him stop taking 🤣
In his final years he proved to be exactly everything that is being said here. And honestly I don't understand how you disrespect the *only* player to win the UCL with 3 different teams. You just don't understand anything of it then.
Pele's challenger for GOAT
Surely one of the best on Club Level, however unlike Zidane never won anything for his Country :/
Because racism.
