Yep, he's truly one of a kind. We'll probably never again see a player who could create so many direct chances and be so dangerous from the number 6 position. And also we'll probably never see a player who will create that much advantage on the pitch despite having so little athleticism and physical tools. He was still one of the best and most dangerous midfielders in the world in his last season at Juve despite being 36 at the time. I think he surely could have played on that level until 40 at least if he wanted, he just didn't need much atleticism. A true football giant, superhero. I'm not sure who to pick really, but I think he's a very strong candidate for the best midfielder of the 21st century so far. The guy won EVERYTHING and was a key guy in his teams (club and national team) for about 15 years.

In fact, they played almost half match with 10 men because they had no substitutions left.
In my opinion, Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso made the perfect pair for Milan and Italy. They covered each other and their specific abilities differed from each other tremendously. One was a midfield wizard with vision and precision passing, the other was a midfield tyrant, stamping his presence with a rottweiler kind of aggression and passion to defend and to control the space. You need to have complementing players and I dare not say Batman and Robin because Robin is a side kick. Gattuso was not Pirlo's sidekick, they were EQUAL partners in crime and their legacy with the 2006 World Cup will go on for all time

He was also a no fuss midfielder who was tidy and was also good at defensive work as well as offense. An all rounder in my opinion and complemented the squad very well

Pirlo is thr reason Milan was so brilliant, he made our midfield tick on our way to winning the World Cup. Alongside Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit(When he was in CM), Xavi, Seedorf, Albertini and Makalele he's one of the greatest ever, if not the Greatest Central Midfielder and Regista ever.
Albertini are a chump in front to Pirlo Gullit it's a striker, Rijkaard are good ,Makelele nice, Seedorf very good but Pirlo it's better. All thinks great Milan win for the great Netherland players in 80- 90's the truth are Milan whitout Baresi,Maldini,Costacurta and Tassotti win the grandpa cup in that years.
