I had a sore throat but still want to put this video out. Big thanks to Mrs KC for making this happen! Do you want to see more from Mrs KC in the future?! Let us know in the comment section!
I like the matte dial on the 58 more but for me the guilt on the bezel is gimmicky and doesn’t make any sense. It like when watch companies try to add faux patina to the bezel too when it has no historical presedente of being like that
You can see why the Submariner is so iconic. Yet the 54 exudes so much charm, with the guilt accents, sunburst dial and minimalist design. I own this and have to say it is my 'as perfect as I have ever found' watch for my 6 1/2' wrist.
The Mrs. did a wonderful job. Please give her a raise. I agree with many of your points. Yes, the BB54 has a better bracelet, but you are forgoing a lot. I feel 39 mm to be the perfect size for a sport/dive watch. Also, at some point you may want some wrist presence in a watch. I love BB58’s gilt bezel numerals, red iconic triangle (red triangle and larger crown references the classic Rolex Big Crown of the past) and the snowflake seconds. I even like the coin edge bezel matching the crown. Without these characteristics, the BB would be rather dull. Now all these charming characteristics have been removed from the BB54. The lugs on the BB54 are also proportionally bigger giving it a less elegant, squared look. Newer may not always be better.
Thanks for your +ve feedback on Mrs KC, I will definitely let her know that you appreciate her work on this! And great minds think alike! I guess Tudor will not be taking our money this year 🤣
@@KCTimeShare There's nothing wrong with your narration skills KC, but perhaps you can both share the limelight. How does she like being in front of the camera? Incidentally, really like my 58 and wouldn't swap it for either a 54 or Pelagos 39, although I know that these are excellent watches and deservedly popular... 🙂, and 🥂 to Mrs KC!
Thanks Rob! I think we prefer to be off camera but let me see if I can convince her to come on the channel more often 😁 But yeh, I totally agree with you, I do like the 54 and P39 but the 58 is still my true love in the Tudor catalog!
4:13 it's in black and white because its trying to remain true to the original 1954 Tudor Submariner. That was the whole point of this watch. It also had rivets and "steps" on the edge of the bracelet links like this 54 has. Making the numerals on the bezel gilt would no longer make it "the 54" 😂.
You are right, and it makes it a less appealing watch for me. My wallet can thank Tudor this time round after taking a punch (or three) from my BB58 purchases 🤣
Thank you, I will pass on your kind feedback to Mrs KC! Unfortunately, I didn’t have the 39mm Explorer with me when I took the footage. I would be interested to know too!
I never took links out myself on my watches. I either bring my watches to Rolex Service Centre directly or ask the AD to size it up for me when I bought the watch.
Thanks for the kind feedback, I will be sure to pass it along to Mrs KC! You like all the things I don’t like about the BB54, difference in opinion is what makes this hobby fun 👏🏼
The bb58 in blue is unbeatable in my opinion. It outclasses watches double or treble it’s price point and has a charm that makes you feel bad when it goes out of rotation within the collection.
37mm is too small for me, I don't have a giant wrist, probably 6.5 inches, but i like wearing 40 to 41mm watches, even the bb58 felt a little small for me
I prefer the extra markings on the bezel and guilted dial in the bb58. The bb54 is more refined shaped but the sunburst dial and bezel is more bland/generic looking. Im waiting until they remove the fau rivots on this and get one.
Great voice-over. I prefer the black/whie bezel of the BB54, and the cleaner lack of markers in the first 15 minutes of the bezel. The 37mm diameter is more true. Everything reminiscent of the original Tudor Submariner,. Just needs a Mercedes hand, deeper teeth on the bezel, larger crown, and it would be perfect.
@@KCTimeShare If I didn't have my Submariner Date 11610 from the AD, I would jump on the BB54. But I'm restraining myself from anything else that would take away wrist time from my Rolex. 🙂 Again, another nice video!
Fantastic video Mr & Mrs KC! Great to see these new watches through your lens and hear your very objective remarks. I own an Omega Seamaster Diver 300M (black on the original metal bracelet) and I am looking into my first luxury Tudor watch: Tudor BB58 Blue on NATO (dislike the faux rivets bracelet and lack of quick adjust), Tudor Pelagos 39, Tudor BB41 METAS and Tudor BB54. My wrist size is 6,25 inches. Do you think the proportions of the BB58/Pelagos 39 suit me better than the newest BB41 METAS? Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the positive feedback, we appreciate it! Given you are comfortable with the SMP300m, I think you can rock all the modern Tudor watches. I think you will like the P39 the most though because it doesn’t have the rivets! And the 39mm case size might be a slightly better fit for your wrist size vs the Metas BB Red 💪🏼
@@KCTimeShare Thanks a whole lot. I had a very brief moment with the P39 and the proportions and looks were amazing. However, the BB58 Blue looks a bit more classy in my opinion. Although I would go for the NATO version due to the rivets.
I think Mrs Kc did a great job. More more! By the way, quick question…is the 54’s rubber strap more tapered than the steel bracelet? From the video it looks more tapered (maybe its optical illusion). Many thanks!
Thanks for your kind feedback Marvin, I'll for sure pass this back to Mrs KC! Unfortunately, I didn't get to compare the taper of the Rubber vs Bracelet, but I would like to think that Tudor uses the same clasp for both the bracelet and the rubber, therefore the taper would be the same? Just my 2 cents / educated guess ...
@@KCTimeShare Thanks KC. You are right I guess…It makes sense that the taper would be the same given that Tudor should use the same size clasp. then i guess its optical illusion. Thanks again…cheers from Malaysia…..by the way, I know that the 54 disappointed you…but did you prefer the 54 on bracelet or rubber?
Nice e-meeting you, Marvin! I think I would go for the bracelet as it is easier to get a rubber strap from the secondary market. But look wise, I do like the rubber more, it reminds me of the Oyster Flex white gold Daytona which is really nice!
@@KCTimeShare Nice e-meeting you too KC. I do like the look of the 54 on the rubber strap too…but unfortunately i dont see many TH-camrs reviewing the one on rubber. A very good question! I think the 54 would wear nicer than the P39 on my 6" wrist. Although the P39 has the same case diameter as the BB58, the P39 does wear a little bigger thanks to its bezel over-hang. For myself, it would be BB58 > BB54 > P39!
@@KCTimeShare Good to hear your thoughts! I have the old bb36 and had a chance to decide between the 54 and P39 and opted for the P39. I have the same size wrist as you and thought it would be too big but the proportions are really good imo
Well, they haven't designed the 54 in a vacuum - it's based on the Rolex Submariner 6205, that's why it looks the way it does (ie no red triangle, no hash marks etc)
It is if that’s important. Some still prefer the warm look of the gilted bezel, the red triangle that harkens back to the Rolex Big Crown, the unique snowflake seconds hand, the matching coin edge bezel and crown along with larger crown again like the Rolex Big Crown. If I want a small vintage tool watch that happens to have a rotating bezel then go with the 54. If you any a modern sized diver with vintage cues go with the 58.
The BB54 is true to the 1954 watch look just as BB58 is true to the 1958 watch so pick which heritage you want to follow. I prefer the red dot and warmth of the dial on BB58, also i like bigger divers, hate rivets so have it on leather. I put the 54 on my 7 inch wrist and said I want to keep this. The creative part of my brain said. No, but i will do a deal with you and let you buy the black bay 36 in blue with a jubilee as a dress watch. As much as I love the BB54, my BB58 stays as watch number 1 until i buy little blue. ha ha
I love the looks of the new 54!!! I know everyone has their own opinion and tastes. I personally love the non-guilt bezel and the no graduated tit marks. It looks like the original Tudor/Rolex sub. I am concerned about the 37mm size for my wrists (7 3/4). Maybe if it had a big crown it would look ok on my wrist……… over all I like the look of it!
