I got my start in RPGs playing AD&D 1e, way back in the 80s. I stopped playing in the early 90s and played at real life for a few decades. A couple years ago, I decided to get back into it. I picked up 5e and a number of the additional books. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. WotC took all of the challenge out of the game and rubber-coated it for losers who are traumatized by character death (usually due to their own stupidity.) I can't stand 5e and have turned to other games - either old school-based games or non-fantasy games. These days, I much prefer Numenera and Cypher System-based games, as well as Call of Cthulhu.
I'm going to say something cursed. You would have enjoyed 4th edition more. It was too much board game for most players If I was trying to talk you into playing at my table I'd suggest Blades in the Dark.

Don't even know enough about it to know what I played. Love your handle, great book.
