This episode clears up so much but I still have questions! Like how did Roimata die? And who is the intended listener for this whole season? I can't wait for season three, I don't expect it to clear up anything about Roimata and Claudia's relationship, but I hope it does provide at least a hint of an explanation. I truthfully believe that Roimata was in love with Claudia and that her narrations show her grief. But what about the other two recordings Hester mentions? I haven't listened to episode 0 but I assume that is one of them. What about the last one then? Would it offer any additional insight? Lastly, I have some concerns about Roimata paintings. Her self portrait shows a figure "waiting to jump" as she herself describes it in another episode. Hester believes that that figure is Claudia. Roimata's painting of the cliffs also has what Hester suggests may be a diver completing her jump, or a wave against a rock. But if the rocks are at all visible wouldn't that suggest that the tide is low? And in that case if the tide is low and it is a diver creating that splash, then did Roimata paint Claudia's death?? Potentially not, but I feel as though Roimata has an unusual fascination with Claudia's relationship with the cliffs and diving. She brings it up several times, in almost every recording. I am still suspicious of Claudia's death. I do not believe it was an accident, but rather either suicide or murder/manslaughter. I also believe that Roimata knew something more that she took to her grave.
sir or ma'am you're fucking me up here, oh man. I just finished listening to it. why is ester here? she used to be an art critic, if I remember correctly, right? or is this after the events of the institute? this whole show has me walking on egg shells.
Katrina Alvarez she did see her though not long before. We don't know the exact time Claudia died. She may have jumped as soon as Roimata left, or months after. All we know is that when Roimata left Cornwall, Claudia talked about taking the plunge, but we only know this from Roimata. Who is to say that Roimata didn't kill Claudia? Almost everything we learn is from Roimata and is biased and censored. We only know what she lets us know.
Anuluxe She mentioned in S1 that she worked in the arts, then the Institute, and then she plans the escapes. Here, she mentions her "technical" work at some place in America before she decided to go back to her "old" work. So this recording was made when she came home and presumably married the listener of S1.
amazing episode; im so happy for hester and oleta! i would love to find out how oleta spent her days waiting for hester and living and healing from her time at the institute. i can't wait for season 3!
Aw danggit, season three isn't on TH-cam yet? I wanted to see the comments (and also comment my own "what the actual fuck *character name here*?" comment) edit: at this point, I guess the rest of the seasons won't be uploaded. But if there's anyone reading this who is listening to this podcast on youtube, go listen on podcast apps and spotify and whereever else you can listen to podcasts. There are 7 seasons
OK, does anyone else feel like this podcast went over their head. Every episode I feel like they're trying to tell me something but I can't quite put it together
I always saw Claudia as the patient from Season 1. The men in sunglasses grabbed her before she could jump. Hester gets Claudia out, and the body discovered was the body of the nurse they had to kill to escape. Roimata was just a lovesick bystander caught up in it. Or even possibly murdered because she started speaking out against the institute. I look forward to season 3. This will be intriguing. I don't mind if I am wrong in my assessment. I am grateful to have the intellectual challenge to begin with.
Amy Smith I always figured they had their names changed to protect her identity because they aren't actually completely safe. Like I said, I am not stressed if I am wrong. But that was just how I interpreted the story. Claudia still was in contact with a sister, the age of the person, dark hair, etc.
Lol Claudia was born before people were made to forget everything before the age of ten. Oleta and Hester grew up together and forgot each other when they turned ten.
This season was just as incredible as the last! I'm hoping s3 will help give more clarification though because I still have so many questions!! I don't think Claudia committed suicide, I think they (you know who) got her. I think they still have her maybe. BTW HESTER AND OLETTA :') ♥
8th view and first comment ^^ (a first for me) Can't wait to finish the episode (although then I'll have to wait for such a long time for the next episode aahh) Love this show/podcast!
Twisting fingers having 9 fingers is a reference to Claudia’s “hands crossed” which had an unseen pinky

SeeingItThruMyEyes One of the previous tapes mentions that Roimata was in Amsterdam (recording an even earlier tape) at the time Claudia died.

SeeingItThruMyEyes You have a point; we have reason to believe Roimata is an unreliable narrator.

@@SeeingItThruMyEyes Claudia was 13 when she was forced to forget, not 10. Another important thing
