In Rise of the Planet of the Apes, there a radio news clip that mentions a lost manned mission to Mars. This series perfectly sets up a full remake of the original.

This franchise has been a wonderful slow burn. We've gotten to see the start of everything. Now we are approaching the time when the Icarus comes home. It will be interesting to see what is effectively the first planet of the apes movie re-framed from a new perspective.
I think we'll get a couple movies in this new time period and at the end of this one or the the 2nd the ship will land
I don’t think we’ll get to Icarus yet in Kingdom.

I still think its one of the most underrated modern film franchises of all time
The apes crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on the horses in Dawn is still one of the sickest moments in Cinema

My wife is a lifelong fan of this franchise. We watched all the new films this weekend in preparation but all we really had to do was watch this video.
All 3 movies are worth watching I have seen them like a million times at this point but I still find it enjoyable each time I watch the films.

My mom is a fan of Planet of the Apes franchise as well.
I have a special place in my heart for the original Planet of the Apes. It was the last movie that my parents took me to. It was playing at a drive-in theater and my mom had poped a giant brown grocery bag full of popcorn for all of is to share. What a great night!

Yeah I think that was a not so subtle “f**k you” to Franco for everything that’s come out the last few years.
1st movie: begins in 2011, had a time skip of 3 years and another time skip of 5 year. So the movie ends on 2019
2nd movie: 10 years later, so 2029.
3rd movie: Only 2 years passed, so 2031
4th movie: 300 years, so 2331
I just realized that I have been obsessed with this franchise for 13 years. I LOVE THIS- Got me an early premiere ticket!
I actually loved the cameo by Charleton Heston in the Mark Wahlberg Apes movie.

I noticed she character was wearing actual clothing compared to the rest of the humans who reverted back to using animal hides and skins for clothing. Also calls back to Rise of the planet of the apes when they mentioned the space shuttle being lost somewhere in the stars, I'm betting she was the astronaut who took the mission and now returned to see her home is gone

I'm a fan of all the ape movies. The best was the original with Charlton Heston. Saw it in the theater when I was 13. At the end the audience gasped and fell silent. Best surprise ending in any movie.
Can't wait to see how the new movie continues the story, potentially perhaps going full circle towards an eventual a remake of the brilliant OG film, and yes I agree all three of the earlier movies where titled incorrectly, I personally think instead of RISE, DAWN and WAR it perhaps should've been DAWN, WAR and RISE. I think KINGDOM is a pretty cool title too!

So I was kinda figuring that this was the prequel to the original movies. Awesome! I watched the og movies as a kid and loved them, the news o es are even better. ❤

My favorite ape movie is Conquest of the planet of the Apes.. its one of the original ones the 4th to be exact. and then Battle for the planet of the apes. Roddy McDowell was the BEST he played Caesar in Conquest OTPOTA and Battle FTPOTA. and played Cornelius in the original first 3.

I've been a lifelong and loyal fan of the POTA Franchise. Yes, even the 2001 reboot, and in all honesty, for me, it was Tim Roth who carried that movie by himself. And then, when we were FINALLY treated (10 years later), with the Rise of the POTA in 2011, a huge weight got taken off my chest because there hasn't been a mainstream origin story of the POTA, then, my prayers were answered when they followed it up with a sequel, and then the last installment. Completely mind blown! I have the 2001 reboot, and the 2011 Trilogy, both on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital formats, Official Movie Posters and more! With this new movie, we are witnessing everything leading up to Charlton Heston's POTA, although I don't know how they're going to bring Caesar back for that. Or maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, I'm just glad to see the Franchise thriving and very much alive! And, with NOA being lineage of Caesar, makes it even more EPIC.

I agree 100% Rise of the planet of the Apes should’ve been called Dawn & Dawn should’ve been Rise. I love this trilogy. Andy was so awesome. I watch these movies every time they’re on TV & I stream them sometimes too. Dawn was my favorite , cause of that tension between Koba & Caesar

What I’m hoping they do is gradually show the ape civilization grow and become more sci fi Esq like the original movies were and after another few movies showing the apes finally advancing to full on civilization they will eventually do a reboot of the original planet of the apes with the whole time travel subplot. It makes sense they’re building towards that given what was set up in kingdom of pota. I’m guessing the 7th movie they make will be a reboot of original set a few thousand years after Caesar.
That final 300 year time jump is huge.

My wife doesn’t like sci fi movies but cried in Rise when Caesar is finally free at the end. Sucked her in. Once the kids heard mom was into it THAT much, they were all in.

TY not the least bit interested in the trilogy but for what ever reason (I’m starved for a good movie) I want to see Kingdom…so this helped with some context.
The colonels group is named after the atomic bomb that the mutant humans worshipped in “beneath the planet of the apes”. The alpha omega bomb was what Taylor activated when he died causing the earth to blow up.
Everything perfect but a minor mistake, cesar wasn’t going to the peaceful place his son found; he was looking for revenge on the colonel when he kill novas father; he left his apes alone and they were captured by the colonel
Just the the host said. The rise and dawn title should had been though of and could had been interesting if James Franco’s character would had shown up in part 3 (older man) could had been a nice reunion with Cesar and him.
Agreed...Rise is my favorite for several reasons, one being the bond between James Franco and Caesar...In Dawn when Caesar takes the humans back to his home so he could hide & recover was a good thing to add...I cried when he went up to his old room and watched the video of him as a baby when James was teaching him to sign... Then when asked who was on the video, Caesar said "A good man, just like you" 😭 I really loved how James played a serious role so well when he was known for comedy...He did a great job & I just love seeing how it all started...In Rise, I also cry every time when James asks him to come home & Caesar pulls him close & says "Caesar is Home" 😭 It really would have been nice to see a reunion between them... It's really the only thing that I think they should have done differently (besides the title order) bc the entire saga started bc James created the ALZ-112/ ALZ-113 & took baby Caesar home therefore saving his life & giving the apes increased intelligence and the ability to speak...I think a reunion would have been nice to see for sure, but as I'm talking to my bf about it, he says that would have changed the entire story considering James was Caesar's "father" he wouldn't have lost contact with Caesar & his neighbor was the pilot, making him & that neighborhood/city the first wave of ppl sick & dying from the virus...He would have had to be completely immune but then he would have visited Caesar often or even lived with the apes therefore not separating man & ape for the first 15 years....idk, it's tough... There's always going to be constructive criticism & nobody can make any film or franchise perfect without fans wishing they would or wouldn't have done certain things differently... Otherwise we'd all be the same person & think about every situation & everything the exact same way... Art is up for interpretation... Regardless, I love this franchise & think they did an amazing job....I absolutely can't wait to see Kingdom 💯
I wonder if someone will try to make an anime version with monster girls and the factions are all about evolution and working together while others say that remodeling current and future buildings will be hard and cost too much. I wonder if we will get to a point in the series where the apes try to rebuild the cities before the outbreak or move on and try new things and maybe travel to space and will humans ever get their brains back and best the virus cause I think at some point they do.

No, Rise is right to be the first movie because it’s the rise of the apes.
Dawn is the second because it’s truly when the planet becomes the “planet of the apes” as the humans die as they thrive.

Rise for sure. If no other movie came after it I feel like with any watchers imagination it would still align with all the older movies, except Tim Burton's movie.
