@@lincolncollegemusic1335 I went to a local folk festival in Vermont, I was there to see the band Mipso (check them out if you don’t know them!) and I stayed for the unknown-to-me headliners, the Milk Carton Kids and fell in love. After the show I got in my car and looked them up again, having been so impressed, and found this video. Here I am watching it again three years later.
Played in several bands when young - bar room pluckers for the most part ..... I had a friend who played guitar so very well - electric ( Gibby SG ) as well as a Guild 25 ..... others we knew were extremely competent ... BUT, NO ONE PLAYS LIKE KENNETH .... especially when he plucks chord / notes as well as runs, riffs WHILE SINGING ..... just a phenomenal player !!! GBjj
Very talented dudes. You've got to love their humor. Sometimes I wonder if they really like each other, but then I hear their blend and it doesn't matter. Fighting like brothers.
I knew The Milk Carton Kids were talented but this performance is outstanding! Hearing and seeing Kenneth and Joey up close and personal is the best. Not unlike a Tiny Desk concert on NPR (which they've done). Thanks to Normans - not only for great guitars, but for posting these videos. (They look and sound great, by the way). Simplicity sells.
I've been listening to The Milk Carton Kids for 3 years now and I'm still dazzled by their talent. Both are incredible good, but Kenneth did not look into his guitar ONCE and did this amazing job!
I saw them twice this year and I'm dying to see them again. This is my favorite of their songs. Totally captivated by their playing and harmony singing!
I'm so glad this video came up. I only came across them a few months ago but then kind of forgot about them again. This video now prompted me to find out whether they are going to play in the UK anytime soon and I couldn't believe it they will be in Bristol where I live in January!!! Tickets bought! Super excited!!!
I first heard these guys on a recording prior to The Milk Carton Kids entitled Retrospect. The song was “As it must Be.” Please check it out. I was captivated. I still am captivated. Not many unique artists these days; these guys are unique. Michigan is another of my favorite songs of theirs.
Pleasure to see these guys May 2019 at Olympia Theatre Dublin. Been loving their vocals, guitar playing and songs since 2013. Class act and love their latest album.
I heard a song by these guys on a local radio station years ago and I can't remember the name, but it blew me away. Great guitarists and songwriters, and they're very good at weaving through each other's playing.
I've been a fan of theirs for a while. Saw them live a couple of years ago in Paris. Great music and hilarious banters. Go check them out if you have the occasion!
On the documentary "The Lost Basement Tapes", Mumford, of Mumford & Sons, while watching them Studio "B" in the Capitol Records Building, is moved literally to tears. Points for Mumford as well.
linda canção lembro tempo em que fui garoto felizmente nós era ligado a os Estados Unidos da America então agente ouvia todos dias musicas com estas linda melodia acompanhada por guitarra baixo bateria e organ eletric sinto muita saudades South of Brazil
I love these cats, man. Their lyric, language, rhyme, sentences, even their punctuation and grammer; as well as their sullen and forlorn new appearances, are of two genius.. geniuses.. geniuii .. two real smart guys. They've obviously been influenced by the great Joe Bob & the Grizzlers. Encore, sil vous play more.
Alexander Hamilton -I've heard that they take their grammer & gramper with them when they travel.. as roadies. They get Worther's candies and molasses cookies.
These guys are great!--That old spruce top 0 or 00 Martin’ sure sounds different than the little Mahogany top martin’ Pattengale’ is known to play. -I like the sharper contrast and Cutting Tone of the All Hog’ Martin’ better.
Above the plains of Omaha I think of all the sufferin' I saw The[soakin' of the pavement Sprawled upon a land without a law Everythin' I loved, everythin' I found what I hoped for Frightened and surrounded Who else is there to turn to anymore? Oh I held out my heart Oh I held out my heart Held out my heart There was a time I spoke the truth But my younger years were wasted on my youth Somewhere I awakened With a crack to a poundin' on the roof Sure I heard the sound As evidence, or better yet as proof I was naked as the day I was born 'Neath the fullness of the moon Oh I held out my heart Oh I held out my heart Held out my heart, oh oh, oh Far away I hear singin' Far away a song The blinding light of morning came Flooding through the window like a friend Like a wild revelation Like a shining invitation to attend Spoken as a prayer Unbroken by despair I make amends The love inside our hearts Is the only kind of savior we've been sent Oh I held out my heart Oh I held out my heart Held out my heart, oh, oh, oh
Kenneth always cracks me up. Singing relaxed and ALL OVER THE PLACE on the frets with all kinds of fills, soloing, all on point. Not easy at all
Every time I hear these two I’m blown away. Incredibly beautiful.
I just accidentally saw these guys tonight live. They blew my mind.
Justin; great stroke of luck for you. Cheers!
How do you accidentally see them live?! Legendary stumble...
@@lincolncollegemusic1335 A great stroke of luck is the only thing I can think.

Just started watching these " kids"! Cant help but get a " Simon & Garfunkel" felling. Wonderful stuff.
One of the best duos to come out in years. I've been following them from the beginning. Amazing talent and very humble.

Kenneth. Just sitting back and playing incredible acoustic. Wow! I think I'll watch it again.
An inspiration and my favourite band at the moment, thanks Joey and Kenneth x
"Let's just do one at a time." 🤣
Very talented dudes. You've got to love their humor. Sometimes I wonder if they really like each other, but then I hear their blend and it doesn't matter. Fighting like brothers.
These guys are the very best duo at the moment, so together it's unreal.
Nice song. Great musicians. Great 1960 0-18
Modern day Simon and Garfunkel very nice harmony
I was going to say that exact same thing.
I agree. Great
Simon and Garfunkel mixed with The Jayhawks........amazing.
Everybody often compares them to Simon and Garfunkel, who are just amazing, some of the best. These guys tho, are the best.
A couple of uptight arrogant f*cking pricks...
Have watched this many times. Always hoping that second song is added!

What a collab I never even saw coming!! Love it
Everything beautiful
These guys will always be my number 1 guitar inspirations.
Love this duo. Kenneth did an amazing job with Joy Williams as well
How could you not love this music? Beautiful.
I've been listening to The Milk Carton Kids for 3 years now and I'm still dazzled by their talent. Both are incredible good, but Kenneth did not look into his guitar ONCE and did this amazing job!
I know Kenneth is incredible. He just seems to instinctively know what to do when it comes to music. Although doubtless many years of practice too.
Agreed with everything, Caroline!
You two are quite extraordinary!!
I saw them twice this year and I'm dying to see them again. This is my favorite of their songs. Totally captivated by their playing and harmony singing!
Stunning performance.
I forgot how much these guys played the strings of my heart in the same key as Simon and Garfunkel.

So immensely talented. Love these guys.
I swear, this recording sounds better than the same song on the album.
Man these guys are GREAT!!! That's some SERIOUS HARMONY going on there.........🎸💚
It’s like my 3 favorite people in one video. Love you guys

@Night Prowler no, it was a Philadelphia station. I should clarify that they didn't play live in studio, just that a song of theirs was played.
@Night Prowler no it was actually "The City of Our Lady", just found it again
Beautiful Harmonizing!
Nice picking, great harmony's, what a treat these two are!
WONDERFUL.
Deus meu, isso é música, na verdadeira tradução fo vocábulo. Que maravilha, como se fiz em Espanha, gracias por la madre que os pario...
Wow…. Excellent !!
LOVE U ... MILK CARTON KIDS ! ! ! ! ! !
Saw them in Chicago with John Prine and blew me away. This is what should be on the radio. No more tractor rap.
Jaw dropping masterpiece.... this live capture is even better than the album version
Amazing. Love these guys.
Milk carton kids are wonderful
I love this acoustic version
Saw them at The Newport Folk Festival years ago...blown away!
Joey reminds me of a very young Clint Eastwood..............these guys are Fantastic........

This is the best take on them that I've ever read.

Fantastic
I agree with Mario. The return of Simon and Garfunkel. These guys are f****** awesome!!!
Awesome!
Cool stuff indeed thanks guys!
Great song great sounding guitars , it's hard for those wonderful instruments to not steal the spotlight , nice harmony, very creative music , love it
These guys are good.
They are so good….
Sublime
Seeing them in Kingsville, Ontaio this summer!!
Awesome
Nice job. Kind of reminds me a little of The Jayhawks “Tomorrow The Green Grass” album era.
Dave S.
The Jayhawks are an absolute treasure. “Paging Mr. Proust” is a fantastic recent release.
Excellent
Awesome nice 👍
Damn can’t wait to see them in Montreal
Sounds like CSN the early years.
Great guys. Keep it up!
Michael Merritt Stills could play. Crosby and Nash were not very good. These guys can really play. Who comes to the store with their own guitars?
@@rickjason215 you are right about that. Stills definitely was the guitar player. They harmonized kinda like CSN. Lol on bringing their own guitars.
these guys are nuts. fuckin mind blowing
wow!
I love these guys. Been listening to them for a couple years now. That white napkin though...errrrrr...I just wanna rip it off of that Martin!
sickb2200 hahaha, the napkin has been questioned heaps, it’s just to stop fret buzzing
These guys have never really gotten the attention they deserve. They've always had a very cool acoustical sound.
These guys are great!--That old spruce top 0 or 00 Martin’ sure sounds different than the little Mahogany top martin’ Pattengale’ is known to play. -I like the sharper contrast and Cutting Tone of the All Hog’ Martin’ better.
Just saw them in Raleigh. Amazing. They sound as good (better :) live as any of their recordings.

Oh I held out my heart
Oh I held out my heart
Held out my heart
There was a time I spoke the truth
But my younger years were wasted on my youth
Somewhere I awakened
With a crack to a poundin' on the roof
Sure I heard the sound
As evidence, or better yet as proof
I was naked as the day I was born
'Neath the fullness of the moon
Oh I held out my heart
Oh I held out my heart
Held out my heart, oh oh, oh
Far away I hear singin'
Far away a song
The blinding light of morning came
Flooding through the window like a friend
Like a wild revelation
Like a shining invitation to attend
Spoken as a prayer
Unbroken by despair I make amends
The love inside our hearts
Is the only kind of savior we've been sent
Oh I held out my heart
Oh I held out my heart
Held out my heart, oh, oh, oh
That martin sound like my grandma’s soul .
Simon and Garfunkel of our days!!
vocals remind me of the jayhawks(early years)
MORE!!!!
god damn!
Their voices remind me of the harmonies of CS&N
Eagles won last night. 18-12. These guys are really good.
Yeah cool .
1951 - the year I was born.
