Hey Ali, I stumbled across your TH-cam channel because I was looking to see how people used their iPad pros to take notes in medical school, and not only did you give an awesome video about that, but I was not expecting to find such a really cool guy who makes beautifully filmed videos. Keep on doing what you're doing man. Cheers.
SGU is such a pretty campus. I applied there but ultimately decided to do my BSc in Psychology on my home island and I'll be heading to London to start a Health Psychology programme in September
Omg thank you so much for this. A professor from the university came to give us a seminar (in India) and I’ve been wondering about the University ever since😄
Breathtaking shots ! Your editing is amazing. It’s always interesting to see how different medical studies are all around the world. Hello from Paris 👋
Those “clickers” are called at my uni “electronic voting systems” we use them within our lectures like you said for questions. Though in my pharmacology module it was used to do “drop quizzes” throughout the year where we were asked to answer 5 questions every drop quiz (10 in Total) and then that went to 10% of our module grade. From your vlog it looks like the same version that we given, really effective technology especially when no one wants to answer a question in front of 300 people.
Hi! I'm thinking about applying to SGU this upcoming cycle. If you don't mind me asking, what was your experience like there? And did you have any difficulty securing a residency afterward? Thanks :)
Ali Abdaal I’m thrilled you got to visit the Harvard of the Caribbean. I hope you got to have a bit of a vacation, too. I just finished the first year. It’s surreal you visited and made a video about it.
This is amazing, I am so unbelievably envious right now! Also as a side note, when you started vlogging and stuff, how did you learn to edit videos? And what software do you use? I'm considering starting vlogging if I get the results I want in August, but I don't really have a clue where to start!
Ali, how do I pick myself up after a bad exam my alevel biology paper 1 went so bad yesterday and I’m not sure if I’m gonna get an A it in anymore let alone the A* I was predicted. I have 2 papers left which is enough to save my grade but I’m not sure how to move on it keeps replaying in mind please help!!!!!
Ali Abdaal Thank you so much Ali! exactly what I needed to hear will definitely repeat this to myself whenever I find my self dwelling over that exam.Only going to focus on the ones I have the power to change. All the best to you too Ali!
Hi Ali, do you still use this drone or have you upgraded? Looking into drones and trying to get an idea of a good beginner's drone to start with. I've heard that some companies or places you buy from offer insurance in case they get damaged
Hey Ali, I'm a Year 12 student at a sixth form college that doesn't send that many students to top universities. Because of that, my teachers are really hesitant and cautious of predicting me A* grades yet I want to apply to Cambridge for Medicine in October. What advice would you give me on that front and how should I develop the skills assessed at the interview? Cheers!
Coming from a less achieving school only increases your chance in getting into oxbridge. They prioritise applicants from lesser backgrounds in comparison with students that come from private school. Assuming you achieve good grades then you will have no issue at all :)
It used to be a good school. But it has been going downhill. I attend there and the quality of lectures / education has decreased since Dr. Modica sold his shares to a Chinese company -> as of 2018 BSCE an NBME exam is now worth 45% of the term 5 grade where about 40% of people fail. (Reported by upper termers that other schools have bought out rotations spots away from sgu and they had to be wait listed so now sgu is trying to eliminate the number of students by term 5) Ive seen my friends who are good people and potential good doctors fail because of their ambition for money with their new grading policy. the august class 2018 was 1,300 students! Say good bye to good quality of education. Overall, this school has become more of a profit margin/ cash cow for the shareholders. Whoever reads this i am sharing the information so that you are not misinformed by SGU. It used to be reasonable to be an MD through SGU back in early 2000s, but not anymore in 2019.
@@AJXO-30 omg just listen to yourself... you are the bitter one here... it is immoral for them to admit students out of "pity" aka a "second chance"... you should not even consider such school to be a legitimate school... it's just a freaking scam at this point.
@@fleckcadeau2382, what's bitter about the reality of these schools? stop kidding yourselves with these Caribbean Med schools fr, they are good for themselves, and that is a FACT. A bitter fact but a real one. Swallow this bitter reality. I couldn't care less tbh at this point seeing how naive people are still defending these schools.
It’s obviously a legit school. That’s not the issue. The issue is when it comes time to matching. More specifically, the high attrition and low U.S. match rate of students who graduate from the Caribbean (including SGU). If you’re a naturally born genius (not sure what you’d be doing in the Caribbean), you might have a decent chance of coming out successful.
Actually, the match rate for eligible US citizens at SGU is 98% w/in 1 yr of graduation. That might not be as good as US MD schools, but it doesn't require you to be a genius to match. Yes, there are many people that end up repeating a term (SGU doesn't charge for repeated terms) and if you don't match right away SGU will allow students to pursue a free MPH and a year of paid research. There are a lot of things to dislike about being here and the $$$, and the lack of many of the opportunities that US students have (simply based on LCME accreditation not extending beyond the US and Canadian borders) are probably the biggest in my mind. -an M2 at SGU
@@CM-tu5wo hi iam thinking for applying as well...u said about the match rates for eligible US citizens but wat about the match rates for an international students??? Wat if we spend so much of money and time there n then nt get matched???
@@rachanarai7452 That's definitely something you'd want to reach out to the school about before you decide to go. Since that's not related my situation, I'm not really sure what the match rate are for non-US citizen SGU grads. I think the admissions department is pretty easy to contact by calling or emailing them though.
Bro, those drone shots made me feel like I watching a legit Hollywood movie. Unreal. Great work!
