    I love their version of True Faith, and I love Patrick and Tim's dancing during it

    In the air tonight is one of the few parts that are way better than the original cast recording.

    Its too bad American Psycho left Broadway. I had the chance to see it live in New York in late May and it was outstanding. Who knew that Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer could sing like he does in American Pyscho :-) . Very talented individual.

      also I think that Benjamin Walker can play younger versions of any character played by Liam Neeson. For example he could play a young Qui Gon Jinn.

      Yeah... I don’t understand it either, but maybe the premise turned off a lot of people. Think it should have been given an off broadway transfer before transferring to broadway.

    I had no clue that True Faith was gonna be in it. As a huge fan of the film I was so excited when they started singing it. Killing Time is also a lot of fun and the use of In The Air Tonight as an omen of Patrick's murderous intent was brilliant.

    I took a drama class for three years in high school, all the way up to honors, and for our final project (2017), we had to talk about current theater news and stuff. A classmate of mine talked about this musical, and I fell in love at the time but didn't actively seek it out until this year. I wish I could've seen it!!! It's so good!

      But also hot take, the London version of killing time is better. Sorry it's fact. This is good, though

    Honestly, I prefer the London recording version of "Killing Time" it gives a more personal and desperate view of Bateman whereas this one doesn't make him seem as depressed as he is, just angry.

      Oforlikelalune he’s not supposed to be depressed, just empty....and maybe he is hiding his depression under his anger that’s all.

      The Broadway Patrick is generally written and portrayed very differently from London. He's a lot more manic and visibly breaking down and they actually gave him a lot of Tim Price's lines, which consequently means Tim has nothing to do in the show.

      is there even the slightest hint of existence of any video from the London recording version of American Psycho?

      It’s crazy how different those two productions are

    • @strangeandinteresting
      @strangeandinteresting ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For what it's worth, they switched who Killing Time is more about on the transfer - The original London was more introspective on Tim Price, who takes more of the solos in that version and was generally just more of an actual character, so when they switched the song to focus more on Patrick, they probably wanted to rewrite it to hone in on their interpretation of Patrick. I personally really love both, but also definitely prefer London - Just felt like chattering about why there was even a change, haha.

    I like this song and all but I feel like the west end's version really killed it...I feel like it showed him really going crazy.

    Ben needs a better mix. He's got the low notes and the high belt, but getting from one to the other, like the end of Killing Time in the build up to the high note, it gets pitchy and uncertain till he gets to the high note. I think that is the problem with the harmonies in 'Killing Time'. He is singing the top part and it is right on his break so he falls slightly flat. He has a gorgeous voice, but he needs to work on his mix.

      SilentHamish if you watch the full version it's kinda weird beside they use mics at certain parts I think it's because they are at like a club but I'm not sure it's really weird

      SilentHamish I've noticed only people who don't care about him or don't want to hear what he's saying use the mic.

      A lot of things were changed by the time the show opened. This must have been from when it was still in previews. It's sad because even though what you are seeing is fun, it is nothing compared to when they were all into the swing of things. They all really owned their roles in the end.

    • @brandong.9668
      @brandong.9668 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Actually, This version is from after it opened. They used mics to hammer in the metatheatrical aspect of the show. (Breaking the fourth wall) Its on purpose. The original run of Spring Awakening on Broadway did the same thing.

      Brandon G. and the interesting thing is - Duncan Sheik wrote both American Psycho, and Spring Awakening (albeit the latter was with Steven Sater)

    I don't know why, but the female singer reminds me of Whitney from Studio C's "Hunger Games: Peeta's Song" video. Like if you know what I'm talking about.

    I love the West End version, but this production is mediocre at best. There are so many differences in the two productions with the dialogue and the lyrics to the songs.

    • @flannerymonaghan-morrs4740
      @flannerymonaghan-morrs4740 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I Always Bring The well, this is just a clip, so you can’t just say that it is mediocre without seeing it yourself.
      Well, at least they got actual Americans with actual American accents to play the characters....
      I think it closed early on broadway because of its audience alienating premise....should’ve gone off broadway in its run first.
