The choreography of this part is INSANE. They're all aggressively weaving among each other, and it seems aimless and random, but ITS NOT?? They all get to their cues precisely on time and on point, and there is no room for error. So talented
Wow- this has changed so much since the London run! When I saw this show, this number was something of a cover of Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf. You can still hear elements of it in at 0:55!
Ooh! Now that you mention it...it is totally HWtW. They must have changed it up so as not to invite comparison since they licensed other songs. I love the instrumental bridge.
Yeah I think you must be right. From what I remember, the London 'Killing Spree' was much more of an uptempo 80s rock number with the Duran Duran riff repeating throughout. I think the lyrics were very similar to this though. Musically I think I prefer this iteration however. One change I'm less crazy about however is having Patrick wield the chainsaw so close to the beginning of the second act. In London, he was doing something else when Jean interrupted him - again, I can't fully remember, but it was really weird. Perhaps eating some flesh in his office or playing with a decapitated waxwork head? It worked really well because it was a really clear nod to the aesthetic of the novel rather than the film. They saved the chainsaw for "I Am Back" in which he was revving it above the massive pile of corpses- then he brought it down and it all cut to black.
I heard the London show was specifically "less bloody" and they amped it up for Bway. I am guessing Matt Smith didn't smear blood all over himself in "I Am Back"?
Oh my goodness, this is incredible. If it is in your power, if you have this, please, please, please share the full version with me. I am devastated that this show closed before its time.
I saw it in London and it was THROBBING. This doesn't make it any better but it was 10x more awesome than I imagined. They re-did some of the music. The original London cast had them initially going to something close to Duran Duran's "Hungry Like a Wolf". It was THIS song specifically but it had "Wolf" mixed into it.
I bought front row tickets for the show, but they were for two months after they closed the doors. got money back but damnit, i really wanted to see it. these youtube videos all i have. (i'm in oregon so i just couldn't exchange).
Because Almeida theatre is a small theatre you really felt the mad vibrations of the whole production it was electrifying!!! Matt Smith was just excellent excellent!!! The whole musical numbers were magnificently produced!
I totally agree! That energy heightens it for sure! FYI this is Benjamin Walker not Matt Smith, Smith played Bateman in the pre-US/Broadway run in London
there was a full length of this show on youtube for awhile and I missed it. would love if someone had a link, or if the show came back so I could pay for it.
I loved seeing this show and wish it would come back. Sadly I don’t think it’d work at all in America anymore, too much real violence and a sense of humor isn’t allowed on the subject anymore . It was an amazing production. Way ahead of it’s time , 2033 might have been better , who knows
because it is! the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre isn't one of the bigger ones, broadway theater sizes vary. i think this probably added to the immersion and intensity of the show
didn't realize a dance montage of Patrick Bateman murdering people was something I wanted to see, but I'm glad I saw it :)

Love when he throws the first knife too early & holds his finger up to the audience, like "wait one moment please"
oh yeah at 1:00
I know it's so well done that honestly I probably like it more than if he'd done it right.
Good improvisation.
2:27 - Pure 80's dance music magic. I love it.
1:15 I love Patrick's walk that he does
oh my god ikr it is so cute
Reminds me of when ever the peanuts kids dance. Haha
he's just takin a stroll
The music in this musical is just perfect! Duncan Sheik is a master.
The cheesy dancing really makes the scene.

Me too! I really wanted to see this show!
Google stage dork, they have the full version of American Psycho and some other musicals
thanks!

they need to bring this back
Not really it’s garbage
@@kykise1395 eh i think its good. But i respect that
@@kykise1395 it’s a solid critique of American capitalism and consumer culture ☺️
The spotlight operator should have won a Tony.
I really like the moves starting from 2:35. they’re strangely so on point and mesmerising , i cannot describe

how do they not get a headache with all the flashing lights?! that would give me the worst migraine
Supposed to be a nightclub.
this was amazing, im so glad i got to see it before it closed. he didn't use a handheld mic when I saw it.
I prefer the london version BUT I WILL TAKE IT
The show was amazing!!! Saw it in NYC! I wish it was still playing
I recommend putting the ending at 1.5x speed for maximum heart palpitations
Good rec 👍
he should be the new james bond!!!!
the show is soooo good
Wow,The song and performances are Fantastic.
Impressive, great performance.
shotgun scene make me laugh and last scene was awsome.
So grateful you have these! If there's a way to get more or higher res versions, please let me know!
Theres a bootleg of it. Do you want it?
Because Almeida theatre is a small theatre you really felt the mad vibrations of the whole production it was electrifying!!! Matt Smith was just excellent excellent!!! The whole musical numbers were magnificently produced!
This is the off Broadway show not the London run. Although I definitely agree with what you're saying with the smaller theatre helping.
@@Gabriel_Oliver this wasnt the off broadway show. this is the broadway show

if someone could send me the full version that would be amazing 🥺🥺
You can see he messed up at 1:09
Love the Duran Duran bit. Didn't the London recording go full Hungry Like the Wolf?
amazing show but god i hope no one was epileptic
Andy Karl would be a good Patrick Bateman
I preffer the Matt Smith play Patrick Bateman
Nay Fernandes Smith can’t really sing especially compared to Walker, but to each their own I suppose
@@marsonwater have you heard the London cast recordings? They sound AMAZING
I think Matt Smith is more mysterious
Brittany Carden this guy is more American lol
Joker Lord lol 😀
Why are some of the best musicals that are out there are based on books?
Like Sweeney Todd.
Oh jesus they made a musical
Does anyone know if a full recording exists somewhere? Either production is fine. Really want to see the whole show.

You can find a recording on stage saga.tk
@@no032 is the link still working? it sends me to a yt channel
Amazing!
Is Helene Yorke actually onstage in this or mic'd offstage? I can't tell since everyone is identical.
She is onstage. There are some pictures online of this number and if you zoom in you can see her
Now with headphones I can connect her talking with her moves. She got to say her lines before four minutes of step aerobics unlike Luis Carruthers!
+Hanon Ondricek Lmao true

I don't think the states would enjoy being called out so very bluntly. They don't seem to be too great at taking criticism.
I'm seeing it next month in DC!
Good, but Matt Smith takes this More mysteriously and makes it to really deep. Still good.
Bateman, batman
Why does the stage look so small?
