Okay people, there’s lots of confusion right here in the comments section. I don’t blame you guys, he didn’t give a thorough explanation to why these straight arm exercises work the biceps.
We know that the biceps flex the elbow joint. Also, the biceps cross the shoulder joint. Along with the pecs and deltoids, the biceps flex the shoulder in all planes of motion.
Straight arm exercises like flys and back levers work the biceps through their most lengthened position, just like Romanian deadlifts work the hamstrings in the same position.
The exercise this gentlemen demonstrated are adjustable and are viable choices when it comes to strengthening the biceps.
A combination of both straight arm exercises and curling variations, is the ultimate way to fully develop the biceps for strength, hypertrophy and joint integrity.

this is what you need for planches and back lever, if your straight arms were weak including biceps it would be harder for you. it's different movement than pushups which includes using triceps rather than biceps.

I did these straight arm exercises a couple times to prepare to get my strict form planche. I got a crazy painful tendonitis in my left elbow.. It's been 4 weeks of pain already and still the pain comes back whenever I extend my arms. Darn !

these guys getting confused were just a bunch of idiots they all think biceps muscles were only about curling and contracting of muscles, well that's the reason why their own muscles are all curved out and when it comes to straight arms exercises they're weak asf ngl.

you should do more research. why do you think male gymnasts have such huge biceps? those exercises right there..

If you are looking at it strictly from a body building perspective yes, but these exercises are specifically taliored to gymnasts warming up or training their tendons to adjust to movements like the planche and the front/back lever.
