I have used a cheapy Amazon hammock for over 3 yrs now, Im a big lad, so it needed to git me and my weight, mossie net the lot, never let me down, sure the pricier oens work, but its what works for you that counts.
Glad you have done this. See as i was not to sure about getting a hammock biggest reason was.. did I wanna throw cash at something that keeps me to enclosed, followed by would i personally get a good night's sleep in one. So i have stayed to being a ground dweller. A friend back in the UK wanted collectables i had and we came to a trade. My part of it is a hammock it has a canvas bottom with side mozzie net stitched to a tarp top. Yes it is a weighty bit of kit but it shall be tried out here in Germany. If i don't get on with it i shall put it on Ebay. Otherwise a hammock is ideal out here at this time of year, the Boar have young and are at their most aggressive
A cheap hammock with a structural ridge line can give a very comfortable diagonal lay. It also shortens the length of the hammock so it gives more cover from your tarp.
I have the same hammock, in fact I was out in it today. Just use it for day camps as a chair, but I have slept in it many times. Its a good one for a starter. 👍
I agree totally mate. I've suggested the same thing to other people. Why invest a ton of money until you know for sure that it's something that you want to do regularly or fairly often?
Rural King tarp, $8 most of the time, BOGO twice a year. Many other places sell them as well. The Wonenice hammock on Amazon is $19 and reasonable quality. They will hold a 260 lb. guy.
I agree dan I definitely won't want to spend much on a hammock if I ever try one don't want to be spending much and then I find myself falling out of the thing 😜
Hammocks and tarps are a good choice for items to save some coin on, from the budget models to the most expensive they function very similar. Great video mate 👍 Cheers Daryl
Got any links to the items pal. I'm exactly in this position. I don't think hammock camping is for me but I want to at least give it a try without spending stupid money
Or better still, try one in a shop or someone else’s if you can. That way if you enjoy it you don’t end up double buying when you realise you need to upgrade.
Thanks for these reviews...I'm facing being homeless soon so have been looking for something to make life easier and think that the Dutch issue bivy is the one for me but I like the idea of being off the ground in a hammock still. 👍🏴
Couple of times when I was between homes I had to use a basha as a hammock, definitely would've been easier to have had a hammock in my pack instead of a slightly useless British army Arctic sleeping bag
interesting one. £24 for a cheap setup; £120 for a similar more expensive set-up. If this were purely cost, you could debate whether you are saving anything with a cheaper setup - since you are probably more likely to sell the more expensive setup for £96 than the cheaper alternative that you may simply give-away. but hey, it's a value proposition really. would you buy a popup £20 tent for the woods to see if you liked camping or a £100 one. does each give you the information that you need? everyone's mileage varies
Hi Shane, I've been using one that looks identical from China for over a year cost me 8 quid & had no probs yet & I'm over 19 stone I think that's over 120kgs so 110kgs should pose no problems so long as you use half decent tree straps bought from China again & if you like hammocking j recommend you replace the caribeaners for better ones from China again if you like. Hope that's answered your question and ease the possible fear of buying cheap Chinese hammocks and equipment.
Thanks for some common sense 👏
Hi mate I just think it's silly spending so much money when just sorting out
If you don’t like using a hammock, what child wouldn’t . Well done video ..take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
