Does anyone remember madden 2001 on ps2? Looks are shit by today's standards, but that year they went with a very physics-based player motion that when running the ball it really felt like you were guiding a 220-lb muscular football player around. It felt great and like real football. By 2002 they toned that down because apparently people couldnt comprehend that they were aiming to simulate how a real human cant run full speed in one direction, come to a full stop immediately, then go another direction . I wish they brought that type of realism back
I don't think I've ever really played Madden 2001 but I do remember seeing videos and immediately recognizing that the gameplay was a lot slower and closer to a 2K5, which from my realism standpoint is right up my alley! It's pretty crazy that it took EA all the way until 2020 when next gen became a thing for them to slow the gameplay down. They had spent decades with Arcadey, pinball, and no penalty to player movement.
I am generally not a fan of madden but I have this game on 360 and I enjoy playing it from time to time. It is hands down better than every single Madden from the last decade or so. The developers actually cared. I’m definitely going to buy the Xbox one version for my series x. It looks beautiful. This looks to be the last decent NFL sim with more “modern” graphics. It’s a damn shame we have to go back a decade to get a decent NFL sim imo
Exactly. I hate we have to resort to PS2, 360, and Xbox one games. I will say, if you haven't tried M21 (Next Gen version) it's pretty good! My latest video shows the gameplay! I am hopeful they'll fix the player movement with this new system they're introducing on M25². One can only hope lol

@Tr1xtan To have this experience gameplay wise, and to have any of the rosters I've created, you'll need an Xbox one (disc) version. Digital is no longer available.
Just a really quick question since you're on xbox, how do you buy this game? I'm on the marketplace on Microsoft edge but it doesn't show the price, please help.

Lol. This is on series x. The only thing I have done is sharpened the video because TH-cam compression reduces the quality. But the textures and the rendering of the football and The player models is 100% the console. I'm sure the game will look just as nice if you had it on native 4K.

This is his 95 OVR version from Madden 06. Possibly the highest overall he's had..? But I always like creating him, Jamal Lewis, and Priest Holmes.

That's a good question! I haven't played the newer Maddens enough to notice lol I mostly play M25, M19, and Madden 18.
