There are tools that can be used to open those parts without a hammer, similar to the spanners that come with side grinders. My father had an adjustable ("universal") one for bicycle repair, so I imagine bicycle shops might have them.
thank you my fd, where I live they wanted to charge me 60 euros for the damaged standard faucet that you showed us, without installation! licensed thieves. tks again I will order one like yours from amazon!

i could swear this channel had a video that showed how to adjust that GE filtered faucet you didn't like. the black handle comes off and you can adjust the knob underneath to temporarily stop the leak. i did it before years ago and now i'm looking around for that vid again because i forgot how.
You can if the washer is still good. After it's bad you can't get replacement.
@@MaciejPiotrowski i figured it out. you can pull the tap out, flip the plastic lever up and slide it out, turn the knob underneath counterclockwise once, then put the black plastic lever back on and push the tap back in. drip fixed for at least a year. one minute every year or two to prevent the drip.
Thank you for this video. you're right- the style that you replaced are pieces of junk. They leak all the time, I have so much trouble with them. The new that one that you installed has a replaceable style cartridge that is like a miniature version of a regular kitchen faucet.

great advice. Mine leaks at the base. I've got another faucet as it was cheaper to buy the same system on eBay than all 3 filters. I do want to get your recommended faucet though.

however, the unfamiliarity of dis-assembling a un-familiar device, does not make a device junk.
Fixing a leaking water faucet is not the same as changing it. changing it would be like the inept mechanic who change parts until one makes the car work. By the way you do not tighten the screw, you replace the spring or give the washer-like screw a small turn.!
Never the less....thank you for presenting the parts that make this drinking water faucet work.....now I know how to face the leaking issue.

Agreed it is junk. Mine is leaking around the fill tube when filling up. How do I remove the fill lever to remove the fill tube to get to that O ring I saw in your video? Thanks for this video.
If you talk about old faucet it depends on model. In some you just pull it out in others you unscrew it.

I would replace it with the one I show in my video. That cheap faucet that most people have from Home Depot is not worth anything and you really can not fix it so just replace it with something that will make sense in a long run.

Exactly. To fix it - the best way is to replace it with better design. I think fixing this bad designed faucet is useless.
After 40 years, this original faucet (SP-2 Repair Kit) is a fine faucet, dummy. If it leaks, after unscrewing the spout, the T-bar might need to be LOOSENED (turn counter-clockwise), NOT tightened as you stated in your video. This, from an American! Otherwise, you simply replace the "sub-assembly." All total, a ten minute job.
Sure, if you can turn it, cause mine was stuck and you can't find parts to this junk.
@@MaciejPiotrowski Jak się masz? As I recall, there was a small socket tool to turn the T-bar that came with the repair kit. Anyway, I'm trying to purchase a repair kit now 'cuz mine is dripping from the spout having repaired it over 15 years ago. A repair kit will be much easier than replacing the entire apparatus with a new faucet. Incidentally, my last name is Polish and I'm told that it means a "roan horse;" so, my ancestors either owned a red colored (chestnut) horse, or they shoed horses, or they were horse thieves. Mother from Warsaw; father's side from Bialystok.
