    A brilliant lesson. I have some Intermediate skills but I'm not yet at a Grade 1 level. So I study, and listen to these excellent lessons. My ear training is my weak point. And yet I was able to follow this lesson with several correct answers.
    Did I mention that you are a brilliant teacher, Gareth? You have helped many people, judging by the comments. You have the most respectful comments section on You Tube. That is a tribute to your personality.

    Singing the Tonic is a good but eazy way to recognize the modulations, would you suggest i find another way to recognize modulations without singing?

    • @MusicMattersGB
      @MusicMattersGB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can calculate the distance between the original tonic and the new tonic.

    Thank you! Hugely helpful. I was relying on the tune brightening (dominant) or darkening (sub-dominant) but that isn't always helpful. I wonder if the examiner will mind me humming...?

      +Genevieve Radley Hi. This is focused on ABRSM but most of it is completely relevant to the Trinity syllabus too. The films are mainly about the musical knowledge. See www.mmcourses.co.uk for more. Good luck!

      Thanks for your kind comments. Yes. One of the modulations will start in a minor key and could modulate to the relative major.

  • @angelwings4498

    This is just for those who found modulating to the relative minor hard (which key it modulates to): for an instance, C major's minor key is A minor. Notice that the minor key is just three steps behind the major key if you don't count the black keys on the keyboard(C major>B>A Minor), vice versa for modulating to relative major(A minor>B>C major) which is not included in G7. Try it yourself with other keys! Don't doubt this trick. My teacher taught me this when I was in G7 and it definitely helped. Good luck for your G7 exams!😊
