It is such a joy to see how your family is blooming and growing so well. I am so happy for all of you. Wolfie just warms my heart he is growing up beautifully in the hands of your wonderful wife and also his loving father. God Bless you all.
When we came to Japan in March, we made sure to go to Kura Sushi (near SkyTree). We tried to order as many items from the selection as we could manage. Everything was so good!
A Kura Sushi place opened up near my work a few months ago in Michigan. Went with a colleague, and it was pretty good but it was $3.50 a plate unlike the less than $1 in Japan. Also rather than the prize chance being random after every 5 plates it was only at 15 plates that you would win a prize.
I have been watching your TH-cam videos for 3 years now and I can’t thank you enough for giving so much advice about travelling to Japan, me and my friend are planning on visiting in the next 2 years and we have been saving up for about a year and a half. So thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge within the Japanese culture
Oh it looks soooo good! And just reminds me of the places we went to in Japan to eat Sushi. The first place we ate Sushi at was Genki Sushi. After a day of wandering around Shinjuku and accidentally forgetting to eat lunch, by 5pm we were starving. We got into Genki and told our waiter that we were a couple and to have one bill. Anyways, we ate a LOT of sushi; even ones that we had no idea what it was but decided to give it a try. After 30 minutes, we were full, to the point that my husband had to step outside and walk it off while I paid for our bill. Not only had the sushi been amazing and so much better then what we had experienced in Canada, but it was cheap! The cashier rang me up and it said 3200 yen, roughly $35 Canadian. I was super confused, usually that amount of sushi we would eat would easily be $100. I apologized and tried to explain that I was paying for two people and mentioned our station numbers again. She returned the confused look and then reiterated that yes, that was the amount for both our sushi stations. I was speechless. I apologized again and said I was expecting a larger price with how expensive it can be in North America. She laughed and told us if that was the case, we needed to come back again. It’s been four years since we were in Japan, and we still miss how the food tasted there.
Paolo, we enjoy your videos so much, and we went to many of your recommended places (sights and eateries) in April. Thanks to you, planning our 10-day Japan trip was a breeze! Can't wait to try Kura in Harajuku on our next trip to Tokyo!
I have been going to Kura for quite a while now because it is just so cheap and so good. Honestly it is my go to sushi spot since I started living in Japan. You really cant beat the flavor for the price!!
A cool thing I saw on a recent trip to Hokkaido. Went out with family to a kurazushi place, not a main chain I think. But the cool thing was there was no tablet, you wrote on a paper slip and they gave it to the chefs in the middle. Once you're all said and done, they took a fairly large device and ran it across the stack of plates, nd it calculated the cost that way. Must have been an IR chip in the base or something, I'm not sure but it was such a smart idea, so fast and efficient.
Have you ever thought of doing a “Day in the life” video about the typical daily life of a travel blogger in Japan? It could just be a video about yourself, you could even meet yourself at the train station. Like a day in the lifeception.
Your beautiful son reminded me of my own son whom I haven’t seen for a while He brought tears to my eyes Best wishes to your wonderful son and lovely family ❤
Hi Paolo, odenkideska. We have a Kura Sushi here in Austin, TX. I was so happy to get one here after experiencing it when I was in Japan in 1994 and 1996. What people don't realize is that sushi here in the United States is a lot more expensive than in Japan. At our Kura Sushi, they charge about $3.20/plate for most plates that Paolo is getting for a lot less. It breaks my heart that I cannot eat sushi more often due to the high prices here.
I don't know about the one you went to but the closest one to me is Bellevue, Washington and that Kura Sushi was garbage. The pieces of fish was small and the plates were still hot from the wash. I also think the 3 hour long line didnt help. I went to one in Kyoto that is by the Bivi mall, that was quite good.
Greetings from SG, I love sushi and thank you paolo for recommendation, i will go this place someday.. i did travel to Japan recently but i did not went here past few days.. I been watching your video, it is soo cool..
we have Kura in my hometown, the plates are 2.99 or 3.99 and its based on the color served, fried rice is 10! and the ramen can cost up to 12 USD, its all the hype of Sushi in the US. Also we do not get the gachapon prices for eating, you have to buy them separately and its often sold out.
omg thanks for covering Kura zushi along with the demon slayer collab! I love kura zushi, demon slayer, crepes and prizes. I'm living vicariously through your video. It looked fun!
This is probably my most favorite video. I love sushi but have my “watered down” American favorites. After seeing this Japanese sushi bar it’s def on my bucket list!
I love Kura Sushi! We have one in Orange County, CA that my family and I go to. The food is so fresh and tasty but I'm sure it tastes even better in Japan!
As Japanese, I hope many people enjoy various sushi! My favorites and recommendations are fish roes, such as salmon roe (ikura), frying fish roe (tobiko). I heard some foreign people don't eat fish roes, so I hope they try roes.
Kura Sushi was on my bucket list and it was amazing to go there. The prices were really affordable. Good choices to consider when I go there next time.
Very similar to the Kura locations in the USA. Been to several and it is cool to see some of the different sushi each location offers. I take my family and friends who haven't tried sushi to Kura so they can try many and see what they will eat. All of them have liked sushi afterwards and I think it is from the variety and freshness of fish and foods. We can order if they want something special or from the kitchen, and that works great with kids who may be a little unsure to try new things. I like the desserts, too. So happy to see what it looks like in Japan and look forward to trying some of these recommendations from Paolo when I visit Tokyo this year.
You are living the life Paola. I’m from the California and want to move to Japan. I love their food, culture and especially their JDM cars❤ I’m Filipino and are there many Filipinos that live in Japan
when i lived in japan last year kura sushi was a goo too but keep in mind they can be really busy on the weekend and on fridays things do also get sold out if you are there late
hello to the family! sorry i missed this when it came out, this was incredibly informative, ill be sure and order basically everything you guys did, it pretty much all looks great.
Kura is one of my favorites! Been going for 10 years now! There are a couple where I live (one in Irvine where I went to college, one in LA) and it's sooooo good. It used to be a good place for cheap, good sushi. Now it's just a place for good sushi LOL. Definitely has gone up in price a LOT over the years. The plates used to be a dollar! Now they're over 3.
Compared to trying to eat sushi where I am (Austria) - this is so incredibly cheap for such an amazing sushi selection. It's been years since I was in Japan - have added this to our (long) list of places to visit, when we finally get back!
We have a Kura not far from us in California and love going there! The variety offered here isn’t quite like what you are showing but it’s well priced, filling and we all, kids included, try new things every time.
Thanks Paolo for another great video. You, Maiko and Wolfy are such a beautiful and amazing family. I really love your videos, and also the way the 3 of you are interacting with each other, and loving each other.
Lil Wolfe is soooooo cute 🥰. He’s getting so big. Now, I’ve never had chicken cartilage. When I have an opportunity, I’ll try! Each item you ordered, looks so good. Yum!
Plenty of interesting choices, much more than I thought we were available, when I watch videos about expensive sushi it's all about the atmosphere, but this one's more about feeding your face, that's good when you're feeling hungry
Watching your videos is getting me excited for our trip to Japan in October 2024. We have Japanese restaurants in Australia, however I am looking forward to trying the real deal. Keep up the good work Paolo, loving your variety of videos.😊😊
Thank you for all of your videos and sharing your life. However, I lived in Japan as well and I have seen Japanese people eat sushi with soy sauce/wasabi two ways. One way is how you showed in this video and the other way was putting soy sauce/wasabi in a plate and dip the sushi in it. Either way works and neither is right or wrong. It’s all about individual preference. Thanks for showing.

Two pieces of tuna sushi in Saudi Arabia are priced between 7 - 10 dollars sad 🥲
I've never seen anyone pour on shoyu like that. There are sauce dishes for that. The wasabi however is done right.
