I would have to say Link's Awakening on the original Game Boy. I loved the story line, setting, and the fact it had freakin' Mario characters in it! I mean come on, what's not to love. Also it was super impressive how they packed so much content into a game boy cartridge. Love the channel. Keep up the great work!
Always a good lesson. Had this happen to me to a Facebook Marketplace deal. I didn't check the condition of the games and didn't check every case with games. Luckily the game I wanted the most was there and fixable.
Come on, that was a really good deal for $40, no reason to complain. The advantage controller is really only worth $5? I rather more say $20. I'd bleach it and sell it for a good price... Cheers, Tobi
Ha it definitely worked out in the end. Thats a great idea...i think i may do that! I put a $5 price tag on it because of the yellowing but bleaching it is a great idea!
@@retrorick or better than straight up bleaching, there are some youtube channels like The 8-Bit Guy that specialize specifically in completely reversing yellowed plastic like this one, maybe you could check them out for tips!(though maybe the proper process might be more work then it's worth for this one)
I really enjoy Ocarina of Time. Not the first Zelda game I played, or even beat. I was the right age to really get into the game and understand what I was doing and why. Being able to run around in a 3D space was almost magical back then. I’ve had a few deals go wrong. Everything from not having everything that should be there, ie: missing manuals, inserts, etc. but one I flat out threw money away when someone didn’t send a purchased items with no chance of getting it back. Live and learn. Thanks Rick!
Funny you said that I’m about to beat it for the first time ever. I just passed the dungeon with the red cane and I have about an hour left based on online guide.
Ocarina of time is probably my all time favorite “retro” Zelda game; however, Breath of the Wild still gives me chills every time I play. By the way, your not the only one who’s gotten screwed on a deal. I went to pick up a Wii U Gamepad but failed to test it out and the screen was shattered. Had to replace the screen myself but at least I know how to fix gamepad screens now.
Original Zelda NES. That's my jam. Also, I've gotten worked on some Craigslist deals...you did ok on this one, actually. Don't be too frustrated, dude. Nice video!
Nostalgia galgore, love your channel and style mate. Awesome that you're showing the downs as well against the highs of this challenge, I'll be sticking around and see how it all unfolds! ✌🏻
Id have to say, wind waker. At that point time, was loving the cell shaded games. viewtiful joe and thirteen games I still play them games least once a year.
Wind Waker is also my favorite! I always recommend the game Oceanhorn to fans of Wind Waker.. the two follow ups on DS were great but not the sequel I'm still waiting for
Most nostalgic Zelda title for me is Ocarina of Time, never owned it when I was a kid but my brother and I rented it from the local video store often. Would have to say my favorite Zelda title is Windwaker with Breath of the Wild as a close 2nd!
By the way we have the same TV. The Sony WEGA 32 inch. Love that thing. Got mine from a guy who bought it in new in the early 2000's around the time HDTV's first came out. He said he only used it for like a month or two because he bought a new HDTV shortly after. It had literally been sitting in his basement untouched for like 15 years. Bought it off him for $20.
Recently I've been trying to figure out a good metric for what my favorite games in franchises are. Sometimes I'll finish a game and say, "Wow. That game was powerful. That game was significant. That game was worth every second I played it." But then I won't ever play them again. When it comes to Zelda, I've played most of the games in the franchise once or twice... Except for Ocarina of Time. I've played that at least a dozen times. It's strange. I used to be a big Ocarina of Time naysayer, and I still am a little bit. However, OoT is still a blast to go through these days. Its infinite replayability boosts it up to be my favorite Zelda game.
I am us agree with you that link to the past is such a great and fun game with great exploring. And you can’t beat the music is always awesome to listen to it when you’re playing through the game. And there’s always so much to explore.

Legend of Zelda, I know most don't like it, but i have such fond memories of playing it with my cousins and friends in 1 & 2 grade. Love this $10 series you rock!
I’m doubting between Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Links Awakening or Link between worlds. These where the Zelda games I had the most fun with. I guess I’ll go for Wind Waker because I’m still in love with that art style.
Wind Waker would be my favorite Zelda game, love the look, feel, music, story, everything about that one. It wasn't what I expected to see next in the series but I'm so glad they took it there.

My favorite Zelda game? Probably Ocarina of Time, many because it was my first when I was a kid, again going back to those memories with my dad. Still love it to this day...but honestly, Majoras Mask keeps creeping closer and closer the more I play. Anyways, love this series so much! Keep it up Rick!
I love the first Zelda game. It just drops you into it and you have to figure everything out yourself, no hand holding. I spent hours as a kid trying to find all of the secrets and dungeons.
Absolutely enjoy these $10 videos... My favorite legend of Zelda games has changed a few times but I've watched a lot of randomizer speed runs of a link to the past and that has become the top of my list. My favorite Zelda game would have to be Majora's Mask. Definitely have good memories playing that when I was younger. My favorite Robin Williams movie is Goodwill Hunting!
Twilight Princess on the GameCube. Beat that game in 2007 just before high school graduation. Also while playing Breath of the Wild, I was hoping for Link to say” Well... excuuuse me, princess!”
My fav zelda game is ocarina of time. Breath of the wild is a super close 2nd then majoras mask with twilight princess right behind it lol. Still a very good haul at $40
I haven’t played a ton of Zelda’s outside NES so I’m limited here but I freaking love The Legend Of Zelda. It’s nearly a perfect game. Robin Williams movies: Good Will Hunting and then Hook and Aladdin I’m always excited when I see another Retro Rick vid pop up. Thanks buddy! Have a great and safe week:):)
I enjoy the original legend of Zelda, zelda link to the past, ocarina of time and majoras mask. But my favorite is definitely ocarina or time for the 3ds. I have a new 3ds xl and that was what I did on our 4 hour drive for a summer vacation we rented a cabin and it was something that kept me occupied while we were on the long drive and that was the one game I played first. And got glued. It’s my all time favorite zelda game and even watching the game grumps play through of it makes is even more my favorite game.
So glad I found your channel. I know Riff wasn't editing yet. But seeing you grow like all the other's has been awesome. Have a blessed one brother. Also my favorite Zelda game was Link to the Past.
As a collector, I would have let this one go. You still had a very solid deal. It sounds like you're in the business of collecting to not get into the negative funds wise, and that's the wrong mindset to have in this hobby. Enjoy collecting games, and don't sweat the small stuff.
I think it’s more so this challenge that’s getting to him, he’s trying to prove that you can build a collection starting small and to be honest he’s already proven it enough! But I see why in this kind of challenge every cent counts
For sure, it was just so strange...we literally discussed in the messages if the games were complete and then they just sold them to someone else...it was weird 😂
Retro don’t hate me. But I really never played Zelda games until the switch. Breath of the wild. I enjoyed that game a lot. The open world, cooking, getting to ride the horse which made getting around nice. It was such a pretty game. Anyways that’s my Zelda game.
Also I throughly enjoy this segment your doing! It’s neat to see the hunt as if we’re there with you. Plus all things 80’s and 90’s was my childhood. I’ve seen something’s I’ve forgotten about. It’s like the aha moments.
Ocarina of time!! Amazing game. I go back and play it all the time even after beating it 100% when I was younger it is still fun to go back and play as an adult.
The original legend of Zelda is my favorite. What it did for gaming overall and the impact it had to this day is clearly still seen that. Awesome job with the vid! 👍
Recent deal gone sour I had: Bought a lot of OG Xbox... price was faire but not great, specifically asked if everything was working the lady says it is. Arrive at home, test it and smoke and burnt smell comes out of the console. I was furious but i learned through forums and FB groups that all OG Xbox have capacitors that will eventually leak over time and if her console was stored for a decade she couldn't possibly knew it was not working. So off to TH-cam, watch some videos and learn how to do the surgery to remove the leaking part. I used the non working Xbox has practice dummy was finally able to cure 3 non-working xbox I had sitting at home, they're now sellable and did the operation on my personal machine so it doesn't go bad over time! Oh and kept a lot of games!
Definitely link to the past...some of the secret's were a little easier to find in the walls due to the slight discoloration so you knew where to put the bomb.all the new things link could get the music the sprites a all around upgrade of everything you could have wanted from the first one.
A link to the past has to be my favorite as well. Another good video! I'm actually glad that you shared this experience, because we don't always get great deals with this stuff. However, you got some dope paperwork with this deal! That poster is awesome. Also, I have that game console box with my Atari 2600 in it and it looks great, so I hope that someone can use it well. Great content and another good video!
For sure man, I debated showing a lot of the footage and process but at the end of the day, thats the real life example of how it is done. Thank you for watching Travis!
Aw man, sorry about the game deal but really impressed they were willing to work with you over just ignoring you. That's awesome; and appreciated that you show the ups AND downs of collecting and buying. I really like that NES console case; those are always fun to come across in the wild. They've always fascinated us, but then we grew up with that stuff, so of course it does. lol Fave Zelda? Oh, LttP without a doubt. Without EVER any doubt. The game still looks and sounds and plays so incredibly to this day. I even encouraged my daughter to play through it and she loves it too. It stands the test of time and truly is the foundation of what makes Zelda games their best.
Honestly, you are right...was lucky that they actually responded back! Yeah, i debated showing this whole process but ultimately thought..man this is real life and situations like this happen! Also i knew i liked you...LTTP all the way
@@retrorick I certainly maintain showing the sometimes-woes of collecting is very encouraging to those looking to give it a go. It helps cement the drive you have to have and the effort that has to go into it.
My favorite Zelda game is Breath of The Wild with Wind Waker being a close second. Wind Waker was so fun to just explore, find islands and had a very timeless art style with lots of memorable moments. Breath of The Wild, however, took it to a whole new level and with the vast world you can explore and screw around it in. They are both amazing.
The original Zelda is my favorite. I was 5 when it came out and I remember my dad lying on the floor with me lying on his back as his good luck charm. We would play till like 3 in the morning and my mom would get so mad at him for letting me stay up so late. Man I miss the 80's!
Hey man - Glad you were able to make best of what you got from the deal! I’d have to say Ocarina of Time would be my favorite Zelda game. Again, that jump to 3D changed so many games and really set off the series.
I have to say windeaker is my favorite zelda game. The art style is beautiful and it is just a great game. It was my second favorite gamecube game as a kid, right below luigi's mansion.
Asking me this question is like asking which foot can I live without LOL. While the 1st Zelda (left foot) will always hold a special and nostalgic place in my heart. I gotta say that Ocarina of Time (right foot) LMAO is my all time favorite.
A Link to the Past is my favorite! Gotta watch out for those scammers on Facebook Garage Sales and Offer Up! I always tell them from the onset that I have the picture they posted of everything in the lot and that I will inventory it item by item during our meet up and exchange. They’ll either say, no problem, or most likely that lot will miraculously NOT be for sale anymore.
The list of favourite Zelda games changes all the time. Currently, it is Ocarina of Time, such a dynamic game and the first 3D to have Z-targeting (lock-on) which became an industry standard.
something similar happened to me from when i was buying/selling. I bought a switch that was supposed to include 5 games, i checked a few of the boxes and everything was good but as i drove off i went to keep checking the rest of em and two of the boxes were empty. =/ its all good, still made money on the deal just obviously not as much as i was hoping. Also the seller lied to me and said their was a little drift on one of the joycons...turns out BOTH joycons had drift, AND the R button didnt work but its all good, i have nothing but time so i learned how to fix Joycon Drift now and i even have the soldering tools to fix the buttons haha learning so much through this experience. ALSO ive managed to pimp out my Nintendo switch SO HARD haha, my switch collection has gotten amazing AND ALL FOR FREE! YOUR VIDS ARE THE BEST! HAHAHA
Ocarina of Time is not only my favorite Zelda game but my favorite game of all time! The graphics and game play were so ahead of their time! Its the reason I bought an N64. Hope to one day own the gold cartridge.
It used to be Ocarina of Time since it was the first one I really played to any extent. However, I think Breath of the Wild is now my favorite. People throw system seller around a lot, but BOTW really was a system seller. I bought it on Wii U first, played it 10-20 hrs and loved it so much that I decided to buy a switch so I could take it to work and play it on my lunch break too. I ended up enjoying it so much that I tracked down the only Walmart in my state that still had the Special Edition version and bought it too (thanks to brickseek). Just had to have the travel case/soundtrack. Luckily it ended up being near a zoo we conveniently visited that weekend. 🙄 Resold my first 2 copies to offset the cost. (I’ve since found a Wii U copy again in a PU to add that one back to the collection. Figured it may be harder to find down the road.)
Yo I love this idea so much. Day One White quit on his so fast. You are crushing it!! I appreciate the knowledge on DVDs to look for. I want to contribute to the $10 game collection challenge. HMU w/ much you want for the documentation for the control deck, zapper, & advantage please. Keep up the great content!!!
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, that game i still play today and I haven't found any other fairytale/Adventure/RPG game that have caught me so strong as this. Just hearing you playing songs of Kakariko Village made me want to play again. And I'm at work now haha😅
Majoras mask is my favorite. It has the ocarina of time feel but a great new ominous story. The time mechanic and the world ending is an incredible concept as well.
My all time Favorite Robin Williams movie is Dead Poets Society.. My favorite Legend of Zelda? The first one and I still have my original copy with the notes I wrote down as a kid.. But there's not a Legend of Zelda I didn't enjoy. 4 swords might be my least favorite but that's just me.
Favorite Zelda game is such a tough question lol. It fluctuates depending on my mood and what day you ask me, but I’d have to go with Majora’s Mask. I feel like the gameplay was Ocarina of Time with a little more polish, and I loved how dark and grim the story was. And while I understand why people don’t like it, I really dug the 72-hour time cycle! I really liked how all of the different events and characters’ schedules lined up and changed as you did certain things.
Same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months back went with him to pick up a PS1 lot guy said everything was complete took his word for it got home and all the games he wanted the most were not in the cases. Thats where I learned to check before handing over cash. Also had a few bad experiences at The Exchange with games being over priced horribly scratched and missing manuals. Always check prices online and alway check condition before buying. A link to the past is probably my favorite as well but thats because I'm a huge SNES fanboy.
Despite not getting everything you were promised, I would still consider $40 for that lot as a great deal. Good on you! On a different note, I'm surprised by how freely you're able to move around. I'm in NY where Coronavirus/COVID-19 has caused everything to shut down and everyone is advised to stay home.
For sure, i think i was more frustrated that the games we talked about before me picking them up werent in there even though we discussed it. Here in arkansas flea markets and good wills are still open but ill be honest...im not trying to get corona...ive been hanging at the house more than anything
My favorite is the colorful! Absolutely beautiful Windwaker 💨 However I used to run around with a Gameboy micro in my pocket playing Link to the Past. The best part of a micro is the sleep option to keep the game on the ability to get right back into the game.
Breath of the Wild, it was my first Zelda game. I love playing open world games and this game just connected with me and I have spent countless hours playing it.
Favorite is the Legend of Zelda for the NES with Ocarina of Time in a close second. Loved using that old school map that came with the NES back in the day. Also cool to hear you’re from Houston. I’m out in the Pearland area if you’re familiar. Love the content, keep it coming!
Ha i did love that they did that...thanks for watching man, glad you are enjoying it!

Come on, that was a really good deal for $40, no reason to complain. The advantage controller is really only worth $5? I rather more say $20. I'd bleach it and sell it for a good price...

The SNES had so many wonderful games. My fav console of all time and ALTTP being my favorite game of all time.

Windwaker is my pick. The art style and the nostalgia of seeing that game is unmatched for me.
I love that they took a chance with changing up the art style in that game!
I haven’t played a ton of Zelda’s outside NES so I’m limited here but I freaking love The Legend Of Zelda. It’s nearly a perfect game.
Robin Williams movies: Good Will Hunting and then Hook and Aladdin
I’m always excited when I see another Retro Rick vid pop up. Thanks buddy! Have a great and safe week:):)
Cant go wrong with the OG! Thanks man, hopefully i can keep making them with all the craziness going on
I enjoy the original legend of Zelda, zelda link to the past, ocarina of time and majoras mask.
Thats amazing! I actually have the 3ds ocarina of time but ive never played it...i need to give it a playthrough!
I hate when stuff like that happens. But it is what it is. Still a decent score! I’m glad they were nice enough to give you some money back
For sure, it was just so strange...we literally discussed in the messages if the games were complete and then they just sold them to someone else...it was weird 😂
Retro don’t hate me. But I really never played Zelda games until the switch. Breath of the wild. I enjoyed that game a lot. The open world, cooking, getting to ride the horse which made getting around nice. It was such a pretty game. Anyways that’s my Zelda game.
Ha, I get it...Breath of the wild is a beautiful game!
Also I throughly enjoy this segment your doing! It’s neat to see the hunt as if we’re there with you. Plus all things 80’s and 90’s was my childhood. I’ve seen something’s I’ve forgotten about. It’s like the aha moments.
@@danielnichols7817 Great idea, im thinking about adding some more footage of me just hunting too...thanks for the suggestion!
Haven't finished the video, must comment.. favorite Robin Williams film and one of my all time favorites is BIRD CAGE! Soooo goooood
First person to shout out Bird Cage...I agree, so good!
Ocarina of time!! Amazing game. I go back and play it all the time even after beating it 100% when I was younger it is still fun to go back and play as an adult.
Yes! The Water Temple Still confuses me 😂
The original legend of Zelda is my favorite.
Ill never forget finding some of those secrets for the first time
@@retrorick forreal man, and the music in stereo....nothing better than that Nintendo sound.
@@pdsg365 Completely agree! 💯
Favorite classic Zelda game is A Link to the Past, Newer school favorite is The Windwaker. Love the show!
Yes! I love the artwork on windwaker...glad you are enjoying it!
Favorite : Link to the Past
2nd: Link's Awakening
3rd: Wind Waker
Love seeing the manuals and old posters/inserts in your pick up. Till Next time.....
Great list! Me too Ted, its prob my favorite part
Favourite Zelda. Thats tough, Awakening, BOTW and LTTP are probably my three favourites. Lets go with Link to the Past this time.
Nice pick man, they are all great!
My favorite Zelda game is Majoras mask for n64. Always enjoyed playing it growing up
Nice man, its a great game for sure...Ocarina has always been my go to though on the N64...no hate against Majora though
Great vid dude! My fav Zelda game is also A Link to the Past. My childhood in a nutshell.
Thank you and great pick! Great minds think alike 👊
Aw man, sorry about the game deal but really impressed they were willing to work with you over just ignoring you. That's awesome; and appreciated that you show the ups AND downs of collecting and buying.
I really like that NES console case; those are always fun to come across in the wild. They've always fascinated us, but then we grew up with that stuff, so of course it does. lol
Fave Zelda?
@@DoYouNerd I agree 100%! Thanks for watching guys!
Same as you , the SNES link to the past is my favourite Zelda game, I remember swapping tactics with my uncle as to how to progress in the game
We made it work for sure! I have Ocarina for the 3ds but never played it 😂
I have to say windeaker is my favorite zelda game. The art style is beautiful and it is just a great game. It was my second favorite gamecube game as a kid, right below luigi's mansion.
i love that they took a chance on that art style for that game...i loved it!
@@retrorick me too
Asking me this question is like asking which foot can I live without LOL. While the 1st Zelda (left foot) will always hold a special and nostalgic place in my heart. I gotta say that Ocarina of Time (right foot) LMAO is my all time favorite.
hahaha best answer yet...thanks for watching Tim!
21:01 I'm really jealous of that Nintendo Table thing you have!🙂🎮
The list of favourite Zelda games changes all the time. Currently, it is Ocarina of Time, such a dynamic game and the first 3D to have Z-targeting (lock-on) which became an industry standard.
Yes! That lock on targeting was a game changer
A link to the past is by far my favorite! Many childhood memories playing this with my family. i still play it to this day
something similar happened to me from when i was buying/selling. HAHAHA
I really enjoy Zelda but have even more nostalgia for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. It was so different than the original but I love it!
For sure, i love that game...it doesnt get enough love!
Glad you got the Zelda, I was worried it wasn’t gonna be in it. Favorite Zelda game is....The Adventure of Link.
its freaking clean too man!
A link to the past for sure. So many memories growing up with that.
Great minds think alike...thanks for watching Kevin!
Ocarina of Time is not only my favorite Zelda game but my favorite game of all time! The graphics and game play were so ahead of their time! Its the reason I bought an N64. Hope to one day own the gold cartridge.
Yes! I just recently got the gold cart after years of searching for it
It used to be Ocarina of Time since it was the first one I really played to any extent.
Very true and I agree. I don't think we would have seen the switch become as successful as we have seen without Breath of the wild!
Crazy deal! Glad you still made out! Would’ve been better with those games, but things happen! Either way awesome scores!
I was a little bummed but it definitely worked itself out!
Ha i do like Day one whites channel..hes hilarious. Let me look into it! Do you have instagram by chance?
Look me up on there if so and message me
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, that game i still play today and I haven't found any other fairytale/Adventure/RPG game that have caught me so strong as this. Just hearing you playing songs of Kakariko Village made me want to play again. And I'm at work now haha😅
I love this retro game stuff man. An i must say u have 1 of the best game rooms ive ever seen so far..
Majoras mask is my favorite. It has the ocarina of time feel but a great new ominous story. The time mechanic and the world ending is an incredible concept as well.
Favorite Zelda game for me hands down is a link to the past. Nostalgia overload!
I want to play it right now!
Patch adams and Jumanji are my favorite Robin Williams movies.
Ms. Doughtfire is another Robin Williams classic
At first glance I was like O dang 😮
I thought that Advantage was a special gold edition or something 😂😂
My all time Favorite Robin Williams movie is Dead Poets Society.. My favorite Legend of Zelda? The first one and I still have my original copy with the notes I wrote down as a kid.. But there's not a Legend of Zelda I didn't enjoy. 4 swords might be my least favorite but that's just me.
First person to say Dead Poets Society! Great movie
@@retrorick Still can't watch Dead Poets society without atleast a few tissues 😭
@@themole9898 Oh dude, no doubt
For sure, i always do but something about filming has made it a bit harder...i wont make that mistake again though! Great pick man
Favorite zelda game... Twilight princess, only one I 100%, and the one I grew up with. Great video as usual!
Nice! What console did you play it on, gamecube or wii?
Despite not getting everything you were promised, I would still consider $40 for that lot as a great deal. Good on you! On a different note, I'm surprised by how freely you're able to move around. I'm in NY where Coronavirus/COVID-19 has caused everything to shut down and everyone is advised to stay home.
For sure, i think i was more frustrated that the games we talked about before me picking them up werent in there even though we discussed it. Here in arkansas flea markets and good wills are still open but ill be honest...im not trying to get corona...ive been hanging at the house more than anything
My favorite Zelda game is probably Links Awakening, most due to nostalgia BUT the remake is amazing and pushed it even further for me
I still have yet to play the new links awakening on the switch...ive heard great things!
My favorite is the colorful! Absolutely beautiful Windwaker 💨 However I used to run around with a Gameboy micro in my pocket playing Link to the Past. The best part of a micro is the sleep option to keep the game on the ability to get right back into the game.
Yes! the micro is a sweet underrated console!
Retro Rick definitely is!
@@Jerkunit26 I will admit though, i traded my recently for a back lit GBA original
I remember seeing that and it’s worth it bigger gripping. Micros are awesome for portability but GBA back lit bigger screen. Pretty awesome!
I really enjoyed OOT but breath of the wild was astonishing. A fantastic choice for a launch title.
That game is beautiful...poured so many hours into it!
Breath of the Wild, it was my first Zelda game. I love playing open world games and this game just connected with me and I have spent countless hours playing it.
I poured so many hours into Breath of the Wild...such a beautiful game!
Favorite is the Legend of Zelda for the NES with Ocarina of Time in a close second. Loved using that old school map that came with the NES back in the day. Also cool to hear you’re from Houston. I’m out in the Pearland area if you’re familiar. Love the content, keep it coming!
Im very familiar with that area! Great picks by the way
I'm going with... Link to the past but really do love them all! Can I say all of them!? 🤣😂
haha i get it, too hard to pick really
