I just started playing this game for the first time. It’s so fun. I absolutely love the bonkers track design. Going into a bottle neck with 30 people when a harsh 90 degree turn or wall. It’s amazing
@6:36 That is the first time in my life I have ever seen one of these machines get destroyed after the finish line. It was hilarious. Thank you for that. And I'm happy the win still counted.
I remember getting so damn fast on the second track with all the boosts that I just took off the track and fuckin died. Best speed 10/10 would boost again
I love how the tracks themselves obscure the view in front of the player so you don't see the the road spawn right in front of you and the game can run at a higher frame rate as a result.
@@Rodzilla97 You can make Star Fox run a little better with Retroarch or Recalbox. With these two, you can overclock the Super FX and run the games way faster.

The speed of sound, as you know it, is specific to Earth and its atmosphere. One could argue that since these races take place on alien worlds with different atmospheres the speed of sound could be significantly higher. The real reason is, of course, that the developers didn't think of it or allow themselves to get bogged down with those sorts of details. But it's a potential in-universe explanation!

First off: I’m convinced master difficulty CPUs cheat Secondly: I am so glad that they developers strived for a 60 fps game because I feel like that’s the exact fps, or somewhere along those lines, needed to make any racing game timeless
Tell me, did you set a analog stick sensitivity limit? Did you set deadzone? Did you used Project 64? If not, what emulator? You played with the Xbox 360 analog stick or did you set the direcional buttons? Sorry for those many questions, but I'll be so happy if you answer me.
Unfortunately, I don't have the settings I used for this. I don't think there is a sensitivity limit, but there is analog stick range but I'm unsure what exact number I used. Deadzone was likely really low, but I would now probably set it to around 25%. I used the Xbox 360 joystick, not the directional buttons. I'm pretty sure I did use Project64 for this, but if I did it now, I would probably try Mupen64-rr. Keep in mind that I never really found the perfect joystick setting. It wasn't as good as playing on a real N64.
@@arronmunroe So sad! The analog stick range was the most important information... :( I know it's impossible to get the perfect config without a true n64 controller, but I want to get the most closer than possible. For curiosity, did you beat the game with all characters? And why Mupen64-rr? (edit) I have the GameSir G4s, it's a good controller and it has the nice Xbox layout.
@@julianofs6041 My range on n-rage is currently set to 66% and the real N64 range box is checked, which might override the number, but I don't really know for sure how it works. Also, I might not have even used N-Rage. It was either that or Jabo input. I haven't beaten the game with every character. I consider Mupen64-rr a good choice because I like to have a backup of the input recording. Unlike a giant video file, which I can't keep on my computer, I can keep a copy of my gameplay when it's just a small replay file. Edit: Correction, I actually used Mupen++ for this game, so I did get a replay of it. Mupen++ is like Mupen64-rr, except a little less reliable. I definitely did use PJ64 for the Expansion Kit, though.
finally beat this today in 60fps; I completed FZero X in master a couple years ago... then i realized it was the PAL version that runs slower X) The 60fps version is so much harder jfc xD
In F-Zero GX, I believe there is a small speed advantage from doing that, but I don't think there's a reason to do that in this game. I would say that in this video, I'm not going out of my way to hit the edge of the speed boost. It looks to me that when it happens, it's related to a turn I'm trying to make, or in Silence, maybe it's because I'm trying to get into position for the next boost without turning the joystick too far.
Sorry, I dont speak english very well, but anyone can tell me what is saying the speaker in this game? : "Oh woaw, first place!" , the own thing I understand :/
Gagdamnit. I can complete the traks fast enought on time trial, but the other cars destroy my speed on master grand prix 😢. Dd cup was hard to drive, but at least it was easy to kill enemys. The 3 lives limit is the harder part.
I've had some weird versions of this game on project64. By weird I mean AI behaviour. I remember the first time I got it master difficulty and even expert were damn near impossible on jack cup. Queen and king were ok and joker was very tough though doable but X cup was extremely easy, they'd always put the breaks on at the end so I would get 'way out in front' and win. In the current version I have jack queen king and joker all play as expected, challenging but winnable, cannot afford to hit edges full on otherwise won't win but drive steady missing the odd boost here and there and mostly refreshing in the healing zone and you'll be ok. X cup though is near fcukin impossible. After about 10 attempts with different racers I won but it required the top 2 rivals to fcuk up 2 races 1 by force and 1 the track being so awkward that most the field fell off so I gained a default 3rd place and lots of points. Problem is unlike the other cups the rivals never fail to win whereas you struggle to make top 6 consistently. Rarely a race can be won by having a lot of yellow zippers and a large healing zone otherwise I'll finish somewhere 5th to 11th.
wondering why you rarely kill opponents...its the most fun at this game xD besides you get an extra life when killing enough opponents, as well as extra energy for each kill
I don't feel like more extra lives would be too useful, although extra energy is. I think mainly I just don't do it because I don't want to slip and lose too much speed. I have a hard enough time not slipping out just driving normally.
really smart of them to prioritize fps for this game, makes it one of the easiest n64 games to go back to
Yeah for real, really wish more n64 games did this, really hard to go back to games like diddy kong racing which drop to 10 fps at times lol
