Great to see the V4WD of old on the road again, almost. Orangy, pizza, coffee, pack raft, to go or not to go decisions. The only thing missing was a toasted cheese sandwich 😂
Chris, I KNEW it was you! I thought I saw you up here in Vermont a little over a week ago and then thought, 'naw, he's off over in the midwest still'....but go figure, I wish I would have turned around and flagged you down to say HI. Safe travels! (afterall, "orangy' is kind of iconic)
It's a wonder I didn't run into you up in Northern VT. We spent 1 day exploring the Nulhegan Basin area (hiking and driving) up near Island Pond ------ we'll have to come back. It was more than we expected. We'll do another run in a month.
Ben riding dirt bikes for 25yrs+ trust me take that boot off start walking the pain off love this channel 🦾🇺🇸😎 the doc will keep you on the hook as long as he or she can 🤹
Glad to see that your mishap is not stopping you! When I broke my right leg, spiral fracture of the Tibia, the orthopedic specialist actually casted it. Six weeks later when the cast came off I got The Boot....
I’ve been on many of these back roads in the northern parts of Vermont but also throughout this state, I was born and raised in. Love my State of Vermont!❤️💞👍
I love your state as well all the way down here in SE Massachusetts. Can you suggest a few backroads for an upcoming foliage trip other than the typical Route 100? I promise, I'm NOT a flatlander! 🤣
@@jeffreycenga6724 have you been to the northeast kingdom area yet? There are lots of back roads there. Check it out. Fall is especially beautiful. Enjoy.
I love to hear that 4 wheel low gear. Beautiful video of VT backwoods. I have done a lot of hiking there on the the Long Trail. I just spent a week in July at a similar VT State campground just east of there. I went there to escape the heat and it was beautiful. Temperatures barley hit 80 degrees during the day and 50 degrees at night. With the peace and serenity I slept like a baby in my tent. Northern Vermont is very special. I did a few day trips exploring the covered bridges in the area and also visited northern NH. Safe travels Chris.
I enjoyed your video, but I gotta say you missed a huge opportunity here. There is indeed dispersed camping in Vermont, just not in the tourism areas you were in. I live in the NEK (North East Kingdom) and my family and I go dispersed camping every summer. Vermont allows 3 consecutive days of camping on any state land that isn't a state park provided it is 200ft from any road and 100ft from any waterway. This summer we set up camp in Victory State Forest. Now there's an opportunity for adventure, because at the top of radar road is an abandoned cold war era radar station built in the 1950s with most of the structures still standing. Another thing I really wish you would have mentioned is that in Vermont we have something similar to a "right to roam" law. Even if it is private property, unless it is posted, it is deemed permissible to access for the purpose of recreation (hunting, fishing, trapping, and scouting for the aforementioned).
Great video. Makes me nostalgic as I grew up a bit directly east of there in Canaan (drive east, stop before your feet are wet in the Connecticut River). Beautiful country and wonderful people.
Wrong time of the year to wear the matching other half as ski boots. I hear Vermont is excellent cross-country skiing country. As always very picturesque. Thanks for sharing.
That was a great video! I commend you for having such balance between your adventurous spirit and your keen judgment on weighing risks. If only one person takes heed of your advice it is worth it. I'd also commend you on your balance with the boot. Seriously, great job Chris!
As a young person we use to spend a lot of summer time at lake Carmi. Easy for us as I had an Aunt and Uncle who lived nearby in Franklin. We lived not very far away so it was a family thing . We always got together as there was a lot of relatives in the area.❤️👍
Chris shock your front drive shaft rezapa joint if it’s stock front drive shaft, you could have torn the boot on the crossmember or exhaust during flex. I did it once, went with terraflex high angle rezppa joint, due to cost of new drive shafts, until I went to 6” lift on 37’s and now it’s a new Adams driveshaft. With your height you are at the point to where it could have torn and grease leaked out. It will pop in 4x4 and especially during flex. Take a look there you will know, black grease sprays all over heat shield
Chris! I hope to see you and Shannon while you're in this great State. Be sure to grab some maple creemees at Al's French fries. Gets some VT Maple syrup, go through the Notch. And the 4x4 center is a great place to get any work done on Orangie! I hope I see you!
Campsites.... For over 40 years my friends and I have been camping down in Big Sur CA. These days, Legal or Illegal. The legal camping options are very limited. Usually booked six months now in advance. Today I was just browsing and found a nice campsite in late October with a 4 consecutive day slot. Booked!!!!
Great timing, I’m taking the motorcycle up into the Stowe area next week for some camping and disc golf playing. I’ll probably head to Littleton New Hampshire after a couple days. I can’t recommend Littleton New Hampshire enough as I lived there for almost a decade . Rek-Lis brewery is my favorite watering hole in the area.
Stubborn Old Goat... Decent nickname. Adventure is a BOOT! LOL 🤣I just got back to Montana from a week's trip in Vermont, NH, and Maine. Would have been great to see Orangy and the Revel in action. I loved seeing all the stone fences in all three states. Plus a LOT of really OLD towns. Ate at Sal's Pizza in Concord, NH. Rated highest in town and it was very good. Good to see you hobbling around and Orangy off-road and doing her thing. Thank you!!!
A lot of these old roads were logging trails. In 1800s logging was a way of life in Burlington area. We lived on a dirt road that had old logging trails. This is why you don't see virgin trees in Vermont. All cleared out
Looks like you and the Jeep are healing and moving. Happy to be back on the trails again. Good luck Chris. Stay safe and have fun with your son. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob.
I feel your pain! I had to wear one of those boots for a while myself. At least for me it was in the winter. I can’t imagine living with it in hot weather!
(That pizza looks so delicious!!!) Good choice for a vehicle, when your traveling in back roads such as in Vermont - what high clearance!! One must be careful, not only because, as you have encountered, the road might be impassible, but, once, a long time ago, I was in northwestern CT ( civilization by comparison to Northern Vermont!), and drove a few miles on a back road, and the road gradually petered out to a non road - became a meadow!!! I had to drive all the way back!!! After that experience, I am quite leery to go on back roads!
16:37 what are the blue strings about in the woods? Glad to see you on “Adventure A Boot” - cute!!! Stay safe, enjoy your time with Cole, we will be here!
As Matt had stated, their for the collection of Maple Tree sap, which is then refined into Syrup. That’s where the term “Maple Syrup” comes from. It’s a huge business in Vermont. You typically need warm days and cool nights for the best production. They run the tubes because it’s far easier to have the sap run into one large collection bucket, as opposed to using a bucket for every single tree you tap.
@@sonnicman I have seen in other videos where they pound the tap into the tree and sling a bucket underneath to catch the runoff. Thanks for the reply! Helped me to learn more. ❤️
Glad to see orange back on the trail and get happy to hear that you and Cole can spend some quality time. Question: We're interested in purchasing 2 inflatable kayaks for myself and my son but, we're really overwhelmed with all the choices. Curious if you could possibly do a updated review on your inflatable kayak, the pros and cons? You enjoy your time with Cole, we forward to you next video upload. Be safe
For what it's worth ... I had an identical popping coming from the driver front of my JT. After inspecting ball joints and tie rod ends it ended up being an under torqued upper control arm.

As it turns out, you and I were probably relatively close to one another at some point in the last week or so. I was basically doing the same thing you were doing, but mostly in southern Vermont and northern New Hampshire. Stayed a night in Woolford, VT before heading up to northern NH near Berlin. Its beautiful country up there, to be sure.. Be safe..
Chris- Adventure is sometimes taking the road less traveled. Use the winch if you get into something beyond your ability to get out. You backed out just when it was just getting interesting.
Wow nice to see you get back to what venture 4wd Is all about. Being over 12 mths. Would be nice to finish your video with food that your loving partner cooks. She cooks some yummy food maybe she should look at starting her own channel cooking on the road.
Chris did you find out what was making that noise? My Jeep makes the same noise (pop) periodically when in 4x4. I was thinking it was something with the drive shaft and axle connection. Thoughts? Thanks for the video!!
Hello Chris and Shannon, I’m still amazed the terrain a Jeep can traverse, and I know yours is not heavily modified. Guess if all comes down to taking your time while not abusing your equipment… It’s great to see you up and about adventuring despite your injuries. Beautiful scenery there in Vermont, I’ve not been there since the early 80’s… I’m not a drone pilot but I’m wondering if you could utilize one for those trail side shots such as at 17:15. Have the drone hover along side the trail while you drive past, then direct it to return to you there by saving the hike back for the equipment… Stay safe out there

Welcome to Vermont! 🍁
"Know when to say when." Indeed.
I was just thinking, this reminds me of the movie (Wrong Turn). Then you said the start of a horror movie. Love it.

Do you ever flat tow your Jeep behind the Winnebago?
Probably not because its to heavy.
