I wrote about the importance of gut health in some of my fermenting posts (bit.ly/fermentedfoodsplaylist), but did you know we are actually made up of more bacteria than human cells?
Makes sense that it would be important to nourish and protect these "good guys" in our gut.
This is why I like to make so many products in my home. It is important to keep the gut destroying chemicals and toxins out.

Another product that is super simple to make is foaming hand soap. I use this same recipe for dish soap and to clean my counters and sink as well.
When my white IKEA farmhouse sink starts looking a little grimy, I just put a little of this soap on it and let it sit for a while. The lemon works its magic and then I wipe away all the stains.
It can also be used as a body wash and even a shampoo for small kiddos.

    Foaming Hand Soap Dispenser- amzn.to/2j4bKSe
I bought these (amzn.to/2j4bKSe) recently from Amazon and I am very happy with the amount of foam they dispense. I was using some method dispensers that I saved. They worked great at first, but stopped foaming over time.
    A word on the ingredients
Castile soap is a super pure product made only of saponified oils. Traditional castile soap is olive oil based, but Dr. Bronner's adds other vegetable oils including coconut. It does not contain chemicals, like triclosan, that are gut damaging and endocrine disrupting.
Lemon essential oil has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is also a very powerful cleanser and has a fresh scent. Best of all, it is the cheapest essential oil on the market. I buy only Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils from DoTerra, and a whole bottle is still only 10 bucks.
DIY All Natural Foaming Hand Soap Recipe
Fill a foaming hand soap container 1/4 of the way with castile soap. Add 10-20 drops lemon essential oil. Fill the rest of the way with water.
    Boom. That's it.
Now, of course, you can customize this recipe for other scents. Try adding wild orange for a bright and zesty scent. Use lavender in a wash for baby.

I’ve been doing hand soap for years and have never thought of adding your own essential oils. To keep it from foaming I added the water first and then added the soap. Love your channel. 🌸

I just bought these foaming bottles from Amazon. This is a much simpler (and less expensive) recipe than the one I was getting ready to mix up. And, it can be used for everything. Great! Thanks, Lisa.

if you put the water in 1st and then the soap it will not suds up. You will have to shake it when done to mix the concoction. The secret is convert everything to ounces (water and soap) and it is easier to do. When I do it, I am going to make up 60 ounces. then refill containers as needed.

Put the water in first and it won’t form up so much.

I tried Castile soap and it always clogged up my method soap pump, and squirted all over the place. Overall I didn’t like it :(

Did you try it with essential oil in there? From what I'm reading the oil is the key to stopping it getting clogged

Are there any castile soap that has no hemp oil in it? I prefer not to use it.

how is this from scratch if you are using already made Castile Soap?

So the only thing to remember about Castile Soap (as it IS in fact gentle, natural, and just all around amazing) is that is has a quite HIGH pH (8.9)!!! Our lady parts hover around a low pH of 3.5 to 5.5..... that being said, Castile Soap can be a serious arch nemesis to the Vagina..... just sayin' lol! Might wanna stay away from the lady bits, menstrual cups, etc, when washin' with the Castile Soap. :)

I'm glad I read this before using it. What's the best thing to use for that?

If your pH is in good shape, and not already imbalanced, then NOTHING is best. lol! Just warm water! Anything can throw the poor girl off whack..... If you're having trouble keeping your pH balanced however, then the best evidence is around Peroxide (empty a douche bottle lol! Sorry if this is TMI guys! nature!)..... Also, Boric Acid capsules specifically made for the hootie works WAY better than harsh antibiotics, and keeps working... it's a lot gentler than the antibiotics (those throw everything off, like a never ending domino effect of hootie probs).. I had trouble for years finding a solution for pH balance, and Peroxide and the brand "Boric Vag" (on Amazon), have completely eliminated that trouble (when any signs try and peak through lafter my cycle, I just use some Peroxide - half water, half peroxide - and 3 days of Boric Vag capsules - one per day at bed time)... Hope this helps!

Oh, and also, I learned that I can't use tampons or pads.... they're loaded with chemicals and the rayon materials are aggravating... just more vagina pH enemies!!! I switched to a menstrual cup... took about 2 cycles to get totally used to it, but I love it now... don't know how I went all those years using icky tampons...

    It's pronounced cas-teel not cas-tile.
