I happened to find myself at a Robbie Williams concert once, when a friend of mine got sick on the night of the show, and she offered me her ticket. So there I am, not even a big fan, and it was easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to. He's just an amazing entertainer with an unreal connection to the crowd and a bunch of great songs.
Yeah and Elton John having Bernie Taupin or Elvis Presley not writting anything original himself or any Country artist who use hundreds of song writers for all of their hits@rickb.4168
Robbie is huge outside US. This was 125k crowd per night for 3 nights at Knebworth. In 2006 he sold 1.6 million tickets in 24 hours, now Taylor broke this record. So ye, Robbie is huge even without US. Definetely check out more stuff. Songs like Feel at Knebworth or Let me Entertain you @live8 if you want to see his live energy.
If you want to see his live energy, Me and My Monkey and Come Undone from that Knebworth concert are absolutely JAW DROPPING. When he dances with the girl from the crowd on Come Undone, I guarantee it created a moment she will remember until the day she dies.
This was the anthem of a generation, it was about learning resilience through life's trials and about the bond of a mothers love, unconditional even after death she won't forsake her child. It's about his mum ❤️. It was used for so many occasions for my generation, weddings to funerals.
Robbie went thru some rough times with alcohol & drug addictions. It took him a long time to fight off his demons and turn his life around. The song to me represents his on-going struggle to stay strong.
I never heaard of him til about 6 months ago - on this song. After checking him out I found a whole lot of great songs and duets with famous singers. He's awesome and I should crawl out from under my rock more often. 😂
I remember reading a quote from Robbie that said Angels isn’t about anyone specific it’s about the idea that loved ones that have passed on come back and take care of you. Please react to his performance of Feel from the same concert. The lyrics of that song are REALLY powerful
Yeah right you “REMEMBER” it… you quoted the EXACT wording of that statement he made decades ago. Here’s a pro tip: you don’t need to brag in a TH-cam comment, because people don’t know who you are. Nobody is going to be impressed by this, it just makes you look stupid. You can thank me later.
Global superstar with the exception of the US, deserved all his success and had such a tough time personally but came through it. Ironically now resides in the US where he has on the whole anonymity which is ironically now a good thing. Was the biggest selling artist on the planet at his peak. Seen him live 3 times all in and every time was amazing
This song is about Robbie's Auntie (or maybe gran), it'a basically for all the women in his life. I am from NY, but I have had the privilege to see Robbie about 6 or 7 times live. I just saw him a few weeks ago, for his 2 show at Sandringham. He is the ultimate showman, songwriter, performer.. The US missed out. But now he can live in NY and not get mobbed. He is fucking Amazing!!!!!!!n xoxo
He tried performing in the U.S. and told us in his former chat room, performing in the U.S would have destroyed him because of his horrible drug and alcohol addiction. He's conquered his demons, living in L.A basically hiding from fans. He noticed that the best way to his health would be living somewhere no one knew him, so he opt not to be famous in the US. He's happily married has 4 kids and now has come out of this extreme anxiety and depression and performed in Vegas to a sold out crowd every night, mostly Americans to his shock. Now he wishes he was famous in America but happy with his life. He mostly performs in the uk and Europe. He is the ambassador to soccer aid and raises millions for the children of Africa, which he visits and 3rd world countries by having a Celebrity match every June. He is such a kind soul. I'm a NYC girl and I have been a fan since 1999. I've had the pleasure of speaking with him for about 4 years through his chatroom and met him in Vegas, spoke to him during a meet and greet. By the way he knows his fans by name. His audience is who he is so connected to. He makes you feel special when you go to his concerts. He'll bring you on stage, talk to you and make you laugh. He is so funny. He's truly talented. He sings pop, rock, swing music and loves rap..old school rap. Check him out. Youll never be the same.😊
Ive been fortunate enough to see Robbie perform live this year at the Isle of Wight festival and 2 things i can say on it... 1) after more than 30 years, he has still got "IT" in truck loads! And 2) if you ever have no faith in the power of music watch his performance of this song from this years IOW festival omg my skin still tingles! Over 50,000 people just enjoying the love of this man and his song! Amazing!
Robbie sung this at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia opening ceremony. The song was huge all over the world, he was a special guest for Taylor Swift when she played Wembley Stadium the same year singing this. He may not be the most gifted vocalists but as an out and out entertainer he is quality. You should check out his live performances from the “Swing when you’re winning “ album.
Premise, as I see it: when you’re alone, and you maybe can’t even find it inside to love yourself, he knows there’s angels loving him and protecting him, so he can love that angel always too.
I’ve been a huge fan for years, this song helped me through many tough times. Robbie always has a huge crowd in Europe and everyone is fully engaged. Love him ❤️
Robbie is from the same city as me, we got the same bus to school, but my school was in Chell and his was in Little Chell, so, never even spoke to him. 😆
Thank you so much for your reaction to Angels. Robbie is my absolute favourite. Been to so many of his concerts in various countries and every time it was overwhelming.
I saw him perform in Madrid earlier this month. I've never really been into his music but he won me over, especially when he sang 'Love my Life' and 'Angels'. What a guy.
You are right that this song means different things to people at different seasons of their lives - in fact it is know for being played at ‘hatches, matches and dispatches’ I.e. Christenings, Weddings and funerals. Rob has said most recently that this song is about literal angels - he was raised Catholic, and the Archangel Michael was a protective figure in his family. But that’s not the story that was put out when the song was new - it was variously supposed to be about his mother, his aunt and uncle who had passed away, or just the idea that loved ones watch over you after they have passed. But then UK popular culture is very secular so an explicitly religion-themed song rarely goes down well. I suspect it’s a bit of all the above - really I think it’s about the idea of having faith, of choosing to believe in love instead of giving in to despair at times of crisis. It’s got a particular resonance because Robbie was mired in alcohol and drug addiction and looked like he was heading towards an early grave at the point when he wrote it. His career was stalling - he had left a big boyband declaring that he wanted to be a solo artist who wrote his own music, but he’d spent a year partying and not come up with anything really. He literally recorded the original vocal just before going to rehab. He was about to be dropped by the record label but they gave him one last chance by releasing this song, which became a huge sleeper hit and turned his career around. So it’s a song about keeping faith in despair and believing that you will be protected and loved even when you are a mess, written and recorded at a point when he was a mess, released at the point of career-despair as an act of faith, and it actually was his salvation. It’s like he sung his own redemption into being when he created this song.

Jane H commenting …. There were around 350,000 people at Robbie’s Knebworth live concert in 2003. As you can see, Robbie, a singer/songwriter is greatly loved by the British people, & Irish, & here in New Zealand, & also in Australia. Maybe Europe too. Greatly loved. And he’s just such a great guy, with lots of humour. I was living in England when this song came out & shot up the charts, & it was being played on the radio all the time. Robbie is a very versatile entertainer. When his first child, his daughter was born in 2012, he wrote a song for her called Go Gentle. It’s very catchy & well worth Reacting to on the Robbie William Go Gentle (official music video) …. He now as four children.
Robbie was known as the bad boy of England. He struggled for years with drug addiction and was rescued by his good friend Elton John several times forcing him into rehab. Robbie was also the lead singer for Queen for a while.

Only in North America people don’t know Robbie, so he can live a quiet normal life in LA. Europe is in love with Rob singe the early 90s when he was a part of Take That. He is sich a talented singer! Bless you Rob ❤️
You’ve missed the point ! The song is amazing but Robbie Williams is creating every emotion he is one of the best entertainers of all time if not the best
Watch some of the XXV tour clip from this year there’s more interaction with the crowd now he lives in California with he’s wife Asda field and 4 kids which at the time of knebworth he said he was never having kids. Knebworth is about 50 miles from centre of london
This song is so amazing! I love Robbie so much 🔥❤️ this performance was 3 nights in a row with 125,000 people each night. He's the singer who played there the most nights. Been twice to a Robbie concert this tour, israel and greece, he was magnificent ❤️ highly recommend you to react to more Robbie songs (this entire concert was just epic!), also, you can react to his performance he did at 'Live 8' just magic ❤ Please keep reacting to his songs ❤❤❤️
Knebworth is a small town near Cambridge and it’s known for his huge concerts and music festivals. I‘m sure you don’t know Rob did this show on 2 days after another.
For about 10 years after this song was released it was the most popular song at hatches matches and dispatches (births, wedding and funerals). He and his writing partner won an Ivor Novella award for the writing of this song too.
Knebworth was one of the UK’s biggest concert/festival Stately Home venues, look it up, it’s a stunning venue and Robbie was(is) very loved by his audiences, that truly was an epic concert.
It’s become a classic. Often at concerts the audience sing it more than Robbie does. The video might be good to watch. I think you’re over thinking it a bit too much but it’s such a beautiful song.
It’s said in circles here in the uk, it’s about his mum, who was/ is a nurse. In the uk, this is an urban anthem.p.s. I saw Robbie in concert a few months ago,he’s still incredible.
Considering the song was originally written by Ray Heffernan who Robbie paid 7500 pounds to to denounce all rights to the song, its probably not about Robbie or his family at all.
So lovely, your reaction. He wrote these lyrics just after coming out of rehab, and potential suicide. He is talking about three - fold salvation - instead of father, son and holy spirit, he is talking about mother, daughter and holy spirit. His connection with a an angelic She - a spiritual twin flame, , his own mother and someone in his life who is offering him salvation. He knows he will always be blessed with love, because he is someone's son, someone's spiritual charge and someone's "lover". It's a very beautiful song.
He’s saying it doesn’t matter if he’s a f*uck up or not, no matter what happens he has angels in his life who love him (the angels could be his family)
He's talking about the love of a good woman. This was from the Knebworth concert in 2003. Now a solo act Robbie started out as a member of a boyband Take That.
Sorry its a month a late but Robbie wrote this song in Rehab. Angels referred to drugs that he was loving instead rather than all the Love he gets and didn't appreciate at a rock bottom moment. For the Record Robbie is Global superstar that only America rejected him. I never understood why Americans never liked him, maybe poor song choices at the wrong moments but he is up there with one of the best front men I have ever seen.
You should watch his performance of Feel at this gig. Tbf that whole gig was insane. Knebworth was the biggest concert in the UK at the time. 375,000 went to see him live and another 3.5 million watch on demand at home. Loads of fantastic highlights. Swing when your winning gig at Albert hall is fantastic as well. Just anything Robbie lol
Robbie is massive everywhere but America 😅always baffles me why artists put so much emphasis on cracking America even tho they’ve conquered most of the globe.
These are very profound lyrics ! Angels are a class of beings created to support and inspire physical life forms . They are very real , non physical . This song invited their participation in your life.
the biggest pop stars the uk has ever produced and 1 of the greatest entertainers, this song also saved his career the record label were about to drop him this got released and shot him to a different stratosphere
Knebworth is about forty miles from London in the English countryside. I saw Pink Floyd there back in the 1970s, so it's been a musical venue for many years. This song was a massive hit for Robbie here in the UK in 1997 and stayed in the charts for a few months. But neither Robbie, nor the group he was originally a member of (Take That), ever made it big in the USA. I think the meaning of the song is about loved ones who have died but come back to look after you in the form of angels, giving unconditional love ("whether I'm right or wrong"), and helping you through difficult times (such as when 'love is dead'). I think the 'she' in the song might be his beloved aunt who had passed on, but whose memory helped him when he was dealing with his demons, broken relationships and addictions. "So when I'm lying in my bed Thoughts running through my head And I feel that love is dead I'm loving angels instead".
I believe there were somewhere in the vicinity of 370,000 ppl there. Be sure to watch all the songs from the Knebworth concert 2003, which, yes, I believe is in England. During one song at the end he tears up with emotion. It's quite a show.
It was never big in the States. It was HUGE in the UK. Robbie said that at that time of his life, he was into the paranormal. He says it was about the "thoughts that loved ones that have passed on come back and take care of you". A great song. I'm surprised we hadn't heard more of it before. As for Knebworth, it is a yearly festival that has been happening for years and is held on the grounds of the Knebworth House in Knebworth, England.
originaly song is about girl which had cancer and shes father wrote song about her fight. Robbie took song and change it so that it is about all situation like this not about specific person. you should react on whole that concert. that was epic apearence. And that comes from someon who isnt hes fan. You can start with "come undone" from knebworth.
Not a bar or club that i know off where u start to play this, and everybody sings along. Because working security, i saw him perform twice this year. Last month at an open air concert Pinkpop (one of the biggest/oldest festivals in the Netherlands, like 60.000 people a day) All ages knew this song and were singing along
If you like a great audience reaction you should watch the crowd at a Green Day concert in Hyde Park, London where before the gig the whole crowd sang Bohemian Rhapsody.
I wonder when rock audiences started spontaneously singing along at rock concert. It didn't happen in the 60s. For example, It didn't happen at Woodstock.
At one time this was pretty much the UK's national anthem..... every wedding it got played and it was the hot messy sweaty song at the end, everyone in a circle, top of the lungs stuff.....
Robbie is huge in Europe, that's why he moved to the US, 'cause like nobody knows him there! ^^+gg In Knebworth, UK, he played in front of 375.000 people, while 3.5 Million were joining the party on the tv and radio .... as far as I know, only his concert at Leeds (UK) was bigger! It's worth to check out more Robbie William live shows! :)
Awesome reaction great voice another great awesome reaction by you again like always on your youtube channel thànk you so much for sharing your video with us love it Britt.🤗👍
Knebworth is about 30 miles north of London with half decent transport to get you there. A lot of big artists/groups have played at the grounds up there, there is a big stately home and the grounds are used to host events. Pink Floyd. Queen, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Dire Straits…
Knebworth is a country estate north of London which has hosted festivals going back to the early '70's. I've been to three, headlined by The Allman Brothers Band, Pink Floyd and Genesis respectively. It's a natural bowl and a perfect venue.
I absolutely love this song & this live version! It is one of my all time favorite songs & I pull it up to listen when I need to feel the inspiration in the lyrics! 😢
Angels, Mr Brightside or Don’t look back in Anger are just ingrained in every Brits Head, Play anyone of them in a bar, stadium, pub and everyone will know the words and sing along at the top of their voice

Agreed. Saw him in '98. That and Oasis in 2005 are among my most memorable gigs.

I saw him back in March this year here in Sweden. He's still amazing ❤
This song is so amazing! I love Robbie so much 🔥❤️ this performance was 3 nights in a row with 125,000 people each night. He's the singer who played there the most nights. Been twice to a Robbie concert this tour, israel and greece, he was magnificent ❤️ highly recommend you to react to more Robbie songs (this entire concert was just epic!), also, you can react to his performance he did at 'Live 8' just magic ❤
Please keep reacting to his songs ❤❤❤️
Saw Robbie at Glastonbury a few years ago. There were 250000 people in the crowd, all singing along.
It's about how he can always think of his loved ones who passed away and how they would support him, so no matter what happens, he's not alone
Knebworth is a small town near Cambridge and it’s known for his huge concerts and music festivals. I‘m sure you don’t know Rob did this show on 2 days after another.
Beautiful song. I've always loved these lyrics. ❤❤
God I adore the live version of "Me and My Monkey"... So awesome! :D
Road to mandalay is my favourite...some great tunes from this lad
It’s become a classic. Often at concerts the audience sing it more than Robbie does. The video might be good to watch. I think you’re over thinking it a bit too much but it’s such a beautiful song.
Arguably the best entertainer since the G.O.A.T. Freddie Mercury.
I think Meatloaf would disagree with you there.
It’s said in circles here in the uk, it’s about his mum, who was/ is a nurse. In the uk, this is an urban anthem.p.s. I saw Robbie in concert a few months ago,he’s still incredible.
That’s wrong, his mum was never a nurse.
@@KathyD-24601 I didn’t think so, which is why I said I’d heard it.
Sorry, that was a bit abrupt. (Before my morning coffee!) what I meant was that I wasn’t convinced of this rumour, but I’d heard it.
Considering the song was originally written by Ray Heffernan who Robbie paid 7500 pounds to to denounce all rights to the song, its probably not about Robbie or his family at all.
Robbie is at his best lucky to have seen him back in the late 90s .he was amazing. I'm he feeling better he is happy ❤
Robbie is a phenomenon! Have seen him live a couple of times.
He is wonderful sells out every concert in Europe. Look up everything by him has great videos
You have to reaco to FEEL from the same concert, it's gorgeous.
Amazing song. You ever seen the music video for Rock DJ? That would be a great reaction.
Queen once asked him if he'd be willing to be their frontman (this was after he covered "We Are The Champions")
Knebworth is a stately home (large manor house for the aristocracy) about 20-25 miles north of London. This event took place in the grounds.
For the Record
Robbie is Global superstar that only America rejected him.
I never understood why Americans never liked him, maybe poor song choices at the wrong moments but he is up there with one of the best front men I have ever seen.
Guy Chambers wrote it with Robbie in the studio. You're talking absolute nonsense.
HE TALKS ABOUT THE HELP OF MOTHER OF JESUS, MARIA.
Robbie is my Robbie🩷💖♥️🎤🎹
These are very profound lyrics ! Angels are a class of beings created to support and inspire physical life forms . They are very real , non physical . This song invited their participation in your life.
Over 300,000 were there!Got to see him last year at isle of wight festival!Amazing performers! :)
I always thought Angles was a beautiful song… It definitely brought out a beautiful smile from you.
the biggest pop stars the uk has ever produced and 1 of the greatest entertainers, this song also saved his career the record label were about to drop him this got released and shot him to a different stratosphere
Robbie could fill every stadium in the world outside of the US until the day he does. That's how potent his back catalogue is.
AFAIK it is about a guardian angel of sorts - possibly a loved one who has passed and become that...
Robbie's smile and the crowd. ❤
My wife of 30 years passed when I was 52. This song reminds me of the constant love I still have for her and hopefully her Angel me.
My mum loves him so much she flew to France to see him live.
Find Taylor Swift at Wembley singing this song. Robbie appears and gives her a lesson in crowd control.
"So when I'm lying in my bed
Thoughts running through my head
And I feel that love is dead
I'm loving angels instead".
It’s a pop song sung by a pop singer who used to be in a boy band.. it’s really that deep
plz more Robbie Williams and Take That reactions .....
this song is often played at funeral s of children, as its very comforting
Not a bar or club that i know off where u start to play this, and everybody sings along.
Because working security, i saw him perform twice this year. Last month at an open air concert Pinkpop (one of the biggest/oldest festivals in the Netherlands, like 60.000 people a day)
All ages knew this song and were singing along
Knebworth is a village and civil parish in the north of Hertfordshire, England, immediately south of Stevenage.
Robby = Most talented artist from the UK, by far.
At one time this was pretty much the UK's national anthem..... every wedding it got played and it was the hot messy sweaty song at the end, everyone in a circle, top of the lungs stuff.....
This was inspired by a man he met in ireland who had lost his tiny baby 😢
Robbie is huge in Europe, that's why he moved to the US, 'cause like nobody knows him there! ^^+gg
In Knebworth, UK, he played in front of 375.000 people, while 3.5 Million were joining the party on the tv and radio .... as far as I know, only his concert at Leeds (UK) was bigger!
No more drugs, no more singing with TAKE THAT, he has his own success, so he turned his life around.
His own songs that he stole from other people
This will be my funeral song. Hopefully not for a few decades yet.
Robbie was immense in his time. He left Take That and just made it.
He talking about his mother
Knebworth is a country estate north of London which has hosted festivals going back to the early '70's. I've been to three, headlined by The Allman Brothers Band, Pink Floyd and Genesis respectively. It's a natural bowl and a perfect venue.
"North of London" is a funny way of saying on the other end of the country
everyone in the UK,europe, knows Robbie, most popular singer the last 20years, like him or not.
I absolutely love this song & this live version! It is one of my all time favorite songs & I pull it up to listen when I need to feel the inspiration in the lyrics! 😢
Middle aged bloke and I love Robbie to bits ❤
Don´t think, feel. It´s a Love Song!!!!!!💖💖♥😍☯☮
Everybody has its one meaning with this song, but its a 100% anthem
Angels, Mr Brightside or Don’t look back in Anger are just ingrained in every Brits Head, Play anyone of them in a bar, stadium, pub and everyone will know the words and sing along at the top of their voice
hes an unknown in the USA. But is global icon. def check out more. 'Feel' or 'come undone'.
