This scene is pretty interesting for multiple reasons: 1)It's the only fight scene in the whole movie. 2)You don't realize until this moment that Jack is a good fighter. Seriously, he wasn't even phased by *any* of Oogie's attacks. The platform they're on starts rotating? No problem. Swords come out of panels and start wildly slashing around? Pretty much extreme limbo. 3 robots firing guns at him? Just walk on top of the guns. It is downright scary how fast Jack adapts without even breaking a sweat. Not to mention Oogie was freaked out *before* Jack actually landed an attack (Or more accurately got a hold of his threads), meaning it's probably common knowledge that Jack is that good. 3)It's cannon that in the Nightmare Before Christmas universe that Santa killed a man with Jack's help. 4)We have actual proof that throughout this whole movie Jack was OP compared to everyone else, yet he preferred to be nice to most people and was interested in more academic studies. So, what happened? Was he always like this or was he just a lot more violent when he was younger and just grew out of it/got bored? I don't think a lot of people realize that if they tried to fight Jack he'd probably be able to kill them very quickly.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact,in the span of five seconds, Jack saved Sally and Santa, got them to safety,AND decided to just, get on the metal table and have the suavest of poses a skeleton can manage and just casually go "Hello Oogie."
The fact that they managed to animate Oogie-Boogie so smoothly, even though he was the hardest puppet to move around and in 12 FPS for that matter, deserves at least a bit of respect
Oogie's death always freaked me out when I was a kid, but as I got older, it actually proceeded to freak me out even MORE as I realized that Jack basically skinned Oogie alive on screen! That's... Pretty *DARK*
For everything Jack is able to do, it can all be explained simply with who he is- he is the King of Halloween. He moves like a spider because arachnophobia is an extremely common phobia, one that he most likely uses to scare countless people who are terrified of spiders. Him suddenly appearing on the metal table, managing to save Santa and Sally so quickly? He's the King of Halloween. That's how he can perform a sudden jumpscare. Jack Skellington is the King of Halloween for a *very* good reason, and this scene shows that perfectly.
Jack is also the Pumpkin King: in a world where the macabre and scary is the norm, he's the top dog. While the movie only shows his kind side, I'm pretty sure he would be the last person in Halloweentown you'd want mess with. No wonder Oogie was quaking in his boots.

OptimusProwlGirl In my opinion Jack's probably one of the strongest Disney movie main characters. You don't become King of Halloween by being weak and easily intimidated.
Not to mention his character is really out there - he's his own person. Scary yet kind. He's the only character I know of who accepts that mistakes may or may not happen and literally rolls with whatever's in that bony head of his

The Bug Day world eventually vanished (presumably because the holiday had been forgotten), leaving Oogie homeless until he ended up in Halloween Town, where he decided to turn Halloween into the new Bug Day. After hearing about Jack Skellington from Lock, Shock, and Barrel (whom I'll call "LS&B" for short), Oogie orders LS&B to go into Halloween Town and kidnap Jack; Oogie's motive for doing so is never clearly explained, but it's implied in the game's intro that he was jealous of Jack possibly being scarier than him. LS&B accidentally kidnap Sally instead, and this, coupled with a subsequent bug infestation throughout Halloween Town, brings Jack into conflict with Oogie for the first time and ultimately leads Jack to Oogie's lair. In the end, after defeating Oogie, Jack banishes Oogie to his lair. More specifically, the exact words of this part were:: *OOGIE:* I was so close. Me and my precious bugs could have ruled this town. *JACK:* The only thing you'll ever rule is this room. And if I ever hear you leave it, *Game Over*!
Everyone may be afraid of Oogie, but Oogie is 1) Afraid of Jack "The Pumpkin King" Skellington and 2) Smart enough to know that an absolutely pissed off Jack is very prone to and very capable of pest extermination. Leaving him with the knowledge that the combination of 1 and 2 means a) He should be terrified and b) He is more screwed that a fly in a Raid factory.
I agree, it's so powerful. It just shows how much he would do to keep is friends well ALIVE and well. I'd cherish him as a friend especially if he did that for me. Overall I think it's the best line said by any hero in a boss battle. Team Jack! 👻💀
This was seriously one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I love Jack's entrance at 1:15, lying there all smooth and casual (no wonder all the ladies love him, lmao). It's pretty cool, too, how he goes from freaky spider-crawl to jumping and doing flips. Don't mess with a pissed off Jack!
After learning of the events in the prequel video game, I see why Jack took him out without any hesitation. Story time... Oogie is not native to Halloween Town. He came to conquer it after his town fell to ruin. After Jack beat him in a fight and took down his invading bug army he instructed Oogie to stay in the tree basement and should he leave (without permission I'm assuming due to him participating in the Halloween celebration), Jack would kill him.
Jack is so dang flexible! When he looked through the bars he had the position of a spider! I don't really doubt he wouldn't, with them loong legs and arms he can climb really well and jump pretty dang high..
What i love most about this scene is the fact that we get to see Jack in his prime, he is THE Pumpkin King, every movement he makes has the potential to be scary as evident by the fact Oogie drops more than a few bricks the moment he realizes jack is alive.
Ok but I find it so mesmerizing how Jack moves with his long legs like they used his character design to his advantage where usually a character just looks like that for aesthetic
You see a skeleton awalking toward you, you get afraid. You see a skeleton which has blades for arms, you scream and run. You see a lich (long undead which has gained magical powers), you call for mommy and piss yourself running. You see Jack as pissed as he is, walking toward you... you die of fear.
+Jack Skellington the pumping king you know jack, can also come with you too and keep lock, shock, and barrel from bringing back oogie because can do trick's like them.
Jack never once showed fear. As a kid I thought he did. Jack had this the whole time, he was just bored of the scary stuff and wanted to just take a break. Jack is hardcore...too hardcore to live and too hardcore to just accept being dead! Love this movie and just the tone! I could go on but what hasn't been said about this movie!?
That moment Jack hears Sally's screams he is then 110% done with Oogie's shit! Though I do love that entrance he made and how freaked out Oogie is, love this movie!
If Jack hadn't shown up then Santa and Sally were actually fairly lucky that Oogie was planning to kill them before eating them. Can you imagine how horrifying it would be to be eaten by Oogie alive? You are instantly thrown into complete darkness as you are drowned by millions of bugs writhing around you before rapidly being devoured and ripped apart by every last hungry critter.
Wanna know something even more scarier? 2:26 In the Latin Spanish version, Oogie repeatedly says: "I die" instead of "My bugs", so It's like: "Nooo, mira lo que hiciste! Muero...muero, muero, muero, mueeroo..." "Now, look what you've done! I die...I die, I die, I dieee..." Which added to the secuence of him "disintegrating" looks creepier xD
Okay but, can we just take a moment to appreciate how much of a badass Jack is? Like man is just unimpressed throughout the whole showdown(if you could even call it that).
@@kitchensinkreal7476 Aw thank you for pointing out that I happen to have an opinion that matches a large amount of people and didn't read the entire comment section before making my own comment because why should I do that.
I like how Jack won, but I wanna mention this: did anyone else realize how damn fast Jack is? He literally was able to swoop in, save Santa and Sally before they fell into the lava stew, hide them in the iron maiden, and then position himself on the table so when Oogie brings the table back up, he's face to face with him? It was literally like 2 seconds.
@@kyripiro224well he has to be extremely fast to move around without being seen so he can perform a jumpscare and stuff so yeah also he probably can stick to things he is the king of Halloween and the scare master so magic is probably something he has
1. Santa got shoe game. 2. Jack is the sassiest skeleton. Just saves Santa and Sally, then decided to assume the most inappropriate pose and just wait to say “Hello Oogie.”
When Jack suprised Boogie, the music just felt so awesome with the way the trumpets and brass crescendoed and abruptly stopped once Jack appeared on screen was great lol
Kind of.. It wasn't originally made by Disney, it was made by Touchstone Pictures. Later, Disney bought Touchstone but still didn't use their name yet. They thought it would be a bad idea to use their "Disney" name on it because it was so weird and scary. However, the movie became very popular and Disney thought it would make them more popular if they used their name. And the rest is history.
I like how Oogie is so confident he will win that he pretends to be scared sarcastically, until near the end when he realizes he's running out of options.
2:39 After reading the comic series and learning that Jack and Oogie used to be friends, almost brothers. Jack's face isn't just anger anymore. But also disappointment that his ex friend fallen so badly and now he pays the price.
Watching this and I look over to my right. My Jack plush has its head turned towards the computer screen with a smile on his face at the part Oogie is dying. No joke XD
Fun fact: Oogie Boogie was the hardest character to move around for stop-motion. And the bugs under boogie ‘s skin had to take four months for three to four shots.
I think it was for the best. Oogie deserves it for treating his friends like. This scene just shows how how far Jack The Pumpkin King would go to protect his friends. He would skin then burn the guy that was torturing them. Go Jack!
Jack understood how dangerous Oogie Boogie was, he said at the beginning to Lock, Stock and Barrel to keep him out of this and since they didn't listen Jack did what he had to do.
Jack: Hello. Oogie Boogie. Oogie Boogie: J-J-Jack! But they told me you were dead! You must be... DOUBLE DEAD!😈 (Sets off trap) Me: Man, Oogie Boogie seems prepared for any situation.😱 (Jack skins Oogie Boogie) Me: 😶Or not.
Oogie: So long, Jack! HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Jack: As you dare you treat my friends and get away with it! (The suit Oogie is destroyed revealing his true body). Oogie: NOOOOOOO! LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!!!!!!! MY BUGS! MY BUGs! MY BUgs! MY Bugs! MY bugs! My bugs! my bugs! my bugs! my bugs! (Santa crushes the real Oogie).
Oogie didn’t F up, Jack did. What did he expect would happen when he kidnapped me and basically gave me over to Oogie wrapped in rope on a silver platter. Jack was trying to fix his own f**k up.
1:14 I just love how Jack does a pose really quickly when Oogie pulls the slide down. I wish I could enter a party like that and say" The fun has arrived"🎉🎈🎊🎂🍰🍦🍎
I think that Scar getting eaten alive in the Lion King and Facilier getting essentially dragged to hell in the Princess and the Frog are pretty good competitors.
The moment Oogie Boogie sees Jack, he's terrified. Jack knew what Oogie really was, so Jack wasn't afraid of him. And Oogie knows... without fear, he's got NOTHING. He's a cowardly bully, tormenting people who are too scared to fight back. But the second someone who's not scared of him is up against him, he reverts to what he really is... a cowardly rotting sack of bugs. Trying every dirty trick and low blow to gain the upper hand back or just escape. Jack wasn't scared, and Jack is the best out there. Throughout every trick, every trap, Jack BARELY TOOK HIS FOCUS OFF OOGIE, and that terrified Oogie even more. He wasn't scared, and he was determined and very, very angry. Likely, he was the one that dealt with Oogie before and PUT him in that prison. So Oogie had already been thrashed by Jack once. And now he was done with Oogie, this was the last straw. He'd been nice before. And here they were again. Oogie knew that if Jack got a hold of him this time, there wasn't gonna BE a next time. And there was not a damn thing he could do to prevent it. Oogie was running in terror from the start, because not only did he have nothing to put up, but he was now facing the most terrifying thing in the universe: The fury of a patient man.
Dude, I wish I was Sally, 'cos I kinda L-O-V-E Jack too. And I mean who wouldn't want to be saved by a Hot Skellington am I right. ( That Goes Out To All You Girls Out There) HEHEHEHEHEHE!
The awesome thing about this is that Jack's fighting abilities really aren't even hinted at prior to this scene. And then suddenly, it's like wow, this thin tall bumbler was a total badass all along.

How dare you treat my friends so shamefully!
I always loved that line, that moment you realize why you should never cross the pumpkin king
I agree, it's so powerful. It just shows how much he would do to keep is friends well ALIVE and well. I'd cherish him as a friend especially if he did that for me. Overall I think it's the best line said by any hero in a boss battle. Team Jack! 👻💀
lol

haustyl12 Then he proceeds to skin the person alive
The line i prefer right before a death is "Long lived the king!"

I love how Jack walks on the guns so easily he’s like “Yeah I do this every Wednesday no big deal” 💀
Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂
That's right, jack. Be the spider.
Me: SHOW HIM JACK
Jack:OH I WILL PAIGE
This was seriously one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I love Jack's entrance at 1:15, lying there all smooth and casual (no wonder all the ladies love him, lmao). It's pretty cool, too, how he goes from freaky spider-crawl to jumping and doing flips. Don't mess with a pissed off Jack!
I love him 😍
Well, who DOESN'T love Jack? Besides Oogie, I mean. I definitely love him. 💀💕
That's cool as hell!
Jack is so dang flexible! When he looked through the bars he had the position of a spider! I don't really doubt he wouldn't, with them loong legs and arms he can climb really well and jump pretty dang high..
I know right it's so awesome 👻
Like a spider 🕸🕷🕸
How can he be flexible if he is a skeleton?

What i love most about this scene is the fact that we get to see Jack in his prime, he is THE Pumpkin King, every movement he makes has the potential to be scary as evident by the fact Oogie drops more than a few bricks the moment he realizes jack is alive.
at 1:15 Jack's sexy pose made even the music turn sexual for a second!
thats my jack ;)
oh yes, and the way he says: "Hello Boogie." Is it wrong to be attracted to a skeleton? :D
Maruška Slavec
well, I don't think he's a real skeleton (like Sally isn't a real zombie). he's more like the idea of one. how else could he eat, etc.?
Maruška Slavec Nope! Jack is very hot indeed.
thank you, I thought I was the only one who thought he was hot
"How dare you treat my friends so shamefully!!!"

Ok but I find it so mesmerizing how Jack moves with his long legs like they used his character design to his advantage where usually a character just looks like that for aesthetic
1:14 My favorite part of the scene, Jack is like "Draw me like one of your french girl, yeah."

Well, he's the fright master. Of course he's not scared.
Am I the only one that absolutely loves the music in this scene?

finalfantasyfordays It's "To the Rescue" on the movie soundtrack.
nope I like it
I absolutely love it too!
I love every part of this movie.
That moment Jack hears Sally's screams he is then 110% done with Oogie's shit!
Though I do love that entrance he made and how freaked out Oogie is, love this movie!
"How dare you treat my friends so shamefully !"
But Jack, Sally is more than your friend !
Jesus Christ, dude!
thanks for that...

In the Latin Spanish version, Oogie repeatedly says: "I die" instead of "My bugs", so It's like:
"Nooo, mira lo que hiciste!
Muero...muero, muero, muero, mueeroo..."
"Now, look what you've done!
I die...I die, I die, I dieee..."

Believe it or not this is a Disney movie.

Fun fact: Oogie Boogie was the hardest character to move around for stop-motion. And the bugs under boogie ‘s skin had to take four months for three to four shots.
Moral of the story, treat Jack's friends well or he'll rip your skin off
Jack the Skintaker.
Lol, TRUTH
Jack turned surprisingly cruel in the end there. But perhaps it was for the best.
Exactly. It would've been too dangerous to let that psychopath run free. Still, gotta feel sorry for Oogie.

Wow, Santa just got Dark... o.o
considering the crap he had to put up with in this movie, i dont blame him.
***** and oogie was a monster.
Oogie was running in terror from the start, because not only did he have nothing to put up, but he was now facing the most terrifying thing in the universe:
The fury of a patient man.
Whoa @ 0:45 I can't believe I never noticed Jack climbing down in the background before.
