I love that the song is 100% deliberate in painting Bruno as the bad guy but when we finally meet him, he's a nervous wreck who just wants to be loved by his family and not be seen as a burden due to his gift. With context it makes the family look terrible but they you realize that their grandmother was the one to make them believe that.
Thing about Bruno is, he tells you your future, he doesn't really do much more, he sees you getting explosive diarrhea in front of your crush, tells you "yo in 7 days you'll shit yourself in front of the girl you like" and it'll happen. They just make it look like it's Bruno causing it, but as the saying goes ambassador doesn't bear burdens

While nobody was bad. Say for the Grandma. At no time in the movie does anyone apologize to Mirabelle or Bruno. Just a "Welcome back" is all they give at the end. And in the movie nobody defends her actions even though they knew it was wrong or only acknowledging that a minor scolding was too hasrh.

I think the writers were very clever in giving her the only positive prophecy because i think that she didn‘t truly see it as a good prophecy at the time of the song cause it was just another time someone told her how perfect her life is and that it will stay perfect

I just love how Camilo, who knows no more about Bruno than Maribel, is just using the chance to wind up his cousin by making Bruno out to be some fairytale monster.
I love Bruno jamming out in the background at the end of Dolores's scene. That feeling when your whole family is singing about how much of a jinx you are, but the song slaps too good.
My favorite part is Dolores', Camilo's, and, most importantly, the last sequence where everyone is singing along. That part is really great because you can hear one certain line from one of the characters really clearly, but when you try to focus on another character's singing, you can hear another different line. That cool effect of combining different audios together but making them cohesive and smooth is why I think this song, along with Surface Pressure, Family Madrigal, and Columbia mi Encanto, is my favorite one. Edit: It's supposed to be *Colombia* Mi Encanto (sorry lol), and I almost forgot to mention Dos Origuitas as my favorite.
What I also really like about this song is that there are so many different characters singing along with different parts, and it just makes the song filled with variety and diversity. Camilo's part is frighteningly amazing, Dolores' first part is subversively really chilling, her second part is like a love story musical. Isabela's part is angelic and beautiful, and much more. This is hands down one of the coolest Disney songs ever!
I love how while Pepa is singing about her Tragic Experience Felix looks like he's just enjoying telling an amazing story and getting to dance with his beautiful wife 😂 love him!
Maybe its timing but I hear that after Dolores part before into Isabella singing "not a sound out of you" the flowers growing make so much more noise during Dolores' part than in Isabella's which also matches this idea of hearing it through her perspective. Very cool touch!
I’ve listened to this like 100 times and I only just noticed that in Dolores’ verse you can see Bruno creeping around in the background love it so much and then he straight up starts dancing
I like all of the little hints in this song. “It’s like I hear him now.” And “He’s here.” Referring to Mariano, but also foreshadowing that Bruno’s still living in the house. And how Isabella looks sad and hesitant when she’s dancing around Mirabel, because she doesn’t want to marry Mariano.
Actually if you listen and read the lyrics when Isabella is dancing around mirabel she keeps saying “I’m fine , and I’m fine , I’m fine” and keeps repeating it . Shows she’s not okay but she’s trying to keep it together for the family

Dolores part always gets me. Bruno walking in the back twice, then dancing along to the song. Dolores continuing to pull Maribel away from looking behind them at him. The way she sings in present tense, because she hears him and knows he's nearby. Her statement about being afraid when she hears him "mumbling and stumbling", because she knows if anyone else hears it, they'll ask, and she CAN'T lie. It's so perfect. Edit: a new thing I've noticed! At the dinner scene, Dolores looks uncomfortable, then turns and knocks on the wall to let know Bruno it's time to eat before walking away!

Loved that someone else caught that she was basically telling her he's still here but because of his ability the family couldn't handle the news he'd bring. By her saying a humbling ability his and her being the only one who could hear him in the house. No one talks about him only because of Abuela.

Just her in her bed trying to sleep and she hears these noises the first time she was curious but by the second or third time she has to endure the sounds. All the bad things that happened weren't Bruno's fault. Like a hurricane on Pepe's wedding day, Pepe wasn't the most emotionally stable Madrigal family member in the first place. Goldfish died, nature. Guy grows a gut, bad diet or genetics. Clergyman loses hair, genetics. Poor Bruno being the town scapegoat. But the song is definitely catchy.
The part at 2:49 just feels like a whole live play where everyone's dancing and setting up the stage, but it's ACTUALLY part of the song, you know? It's cool to see something like this animated. And maybe I've SEEN other things like that before yeah, but something about Encanto is so pleasing to the eye that I appreciate it more here.

If you listen carefully at the end when Mirabel is connecting the vision pieces, you can hear Camilo’s part get higher then his part before (It has something like a climax) and it sounds very good

This kind of just drives home Dolores's perspective here. She's sympathetic to Bruno, but clearly still scared of him (note the present tense of "I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling"). Imagine her growing up with her scary uncle in the walls, knowing that she can't tell anyone because she understands that it isn't his fault, but too afraid of him and his prophecies to reach out and help. No wonder she's so twitchy and incapable of keeping Mirabel's secret. She already has a massive burden to deal with.
Okay Camilo’s parts in this song are part of why he’s my favorite character. He’s just so cool and he’s basically the definition of a sibling for most of the movie and it’s awesome
That! I was only hearing everyones but his and I thought it strange I couldn't hear, but when I started at 3:10 I could follow along with his voice to the second verse where my ears absolutely went to heaven, also coupled with his fun lift and bop move.
The way their COMPLETELY separate singing just fits together so perfectly is almost a metaphor of the puzzle pieces mirabelle is putting together. For example, Isabella’s and aunt peppas high notes just fit together so perfectly “-*cloud* in the sky” with the “-*someday* be mine” part 2:53 Just fits so PERFECTLY. Both of their COMPLETELY DIFFERENT lyrics, singing, and music genre just compliment each other. It was as if their lyrics were made to fit. LIKE THEY LITERALLY SOUND LIKE THE EXACT SAME SONG! “Cloud in the sky” and “someday be mine” both Ryhme so imagine the speed and timing they needed to achieve this. It would’ve taken such a long time in making this in JUST this song. Them all singing together is so BEAUTIFULLY created and made holy 💩

I like how with Dolores’s part, You can clearly see Bruno’s shadow in the background, but every time Mirabelle turned in that direction Dolores was there to pull her attention back to her. Even with just the lyrics “I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling” was in present tense, meaning we know for sure she knows he’s there. It’s truly amazing how much detail and effort Disney put into this movie and I love every second of it

Honestly... this movie is one of the best one's I've seen in years. Almost perfect pacing, none of the humor falls short, characters have depth, animation is incredible and music numbers and dialogue are outstanding. I've been waiting for the full music video to come out for this song because it's a great showcase for the movie as a whole. Even without the context of the prophecy and the glowing sheet thingie, you can pretty much infer what the base story of the movie is just from this number. Also, I really love how Mirabel copies the dance moves/dramatic motions of the characters around her while they're singing (leaning back when someone leans towards her, dancing with Dolores, the little shoulder shrugs when Pepa and Felix are singing, as well as Felix literally spinning her into the next scene!) it is SO GOOD.
I contest you on the “perfect pacing” part. It’s rather slow to start and then goes far too quickly at the end. We barely get any room to breathe and bask in the high after What More Can I Do before Abuela walks in on them and tanks the mood, and we barely get a denouement after the house returns. A common response to the credits appearing has been “oh, it’s over already!”, and several people I’ve seen online have said they wished they could have given us a few extra minutes to expand Camilo and Delores’s parts. The show-stopping numbers (Surface Pressure and Waiting On A Miracle) being front-loaded doesn’t help the uneven pacing distribution either. Everything else is amazing, though, which is why I think the pace bothers me so much.
Pacing?? You can miss 5 minutes and get lost. They are way too fast at times to where it'd kinda hard to keep up with story. But I do like this movie. The songs at times are way to fast and when they sing half in Spanish I feel like audience who don't understand Spanish get confused or lost. Even my mother who is Peruvian was kinda confused at the end of the film lol

I can’t get over how well the final chorus was put together, how it just built up throughout the song and ended in this dramatic chaos in Mirabel’s mind
I love the little details like: -Mirabel shy dance steps in Pepa's and Dolores' parts. -Bruno, in shadows, dancing in first floor while Dolores is singing. -Camilo metamorphosis have sound. -The rats playing along in Camilo's performance. They clearly are tamed rats. -Alma, Mariano and his (grand?)mother aren't simply walking to the house. They are doing a Wizard of oz style choreography. -Mirabel doesn't appear out of nowhere next to Luisa's door. She is in the background when the others set the table. -Luisa is down but she takes part anyway in the final scene. -The zoom out revealing the whole prophecy. And I adore the HEY!
Something I never noticed until someone pointed it out to me: at the end when they’re all dancing around Mirabel singing their parts, Isabela’s part changes the second verse after singing about Bruno saying the life of her dreams would be hers and she starts saying “And I’m fine. I’m fine. Things are fine, fine, fine.” with a very clear look of worry and sadness on her face. It’s one of those moments when she breaks her “miss perfect” character and shows that she’s struggling to pretend she’s okay and is probably really hoping Bruno’s vision was right and everything will turn out okay for her. I love that little detail.
Edit this, since both Dolores and Isa were singing "I'm fine". Dolores was singing it due to her trying to except that Isa is going to marry the guy she likes.
I just love how this song is filled with a handful of the later revealed/proven truths about the family like the fact that Bruno still lives in the house and how Dolores can hear him or Isabella's potential to grow. Very wonderful lyric-writing
Also all of the people's perceptions of him show him as this sinister, creepy and cruel person. When in reality he was actually really chill and just wanted to help. The best example is in Pepa's verse how she says he walked up with a "sinister grin" when he was only grinning because he was being a dorky older brother just teasing his sister about her being nervous so he made a joke. But because everyone was so afraid of him, they assumed the worst out of him. The movie had him set up to be this evil wizard terrorizing everyone, but they were all wrong Even the three villagers his prophecies seemed very vague and just observations. "One day your goldfish will die, and you'll get fat, and one day you're hair will fall out."
This one is a straight up banger. The multiple styles mixed into one each giving slight clues, the various descriptions of him, and the connections fit perfectly.

I love how Delores is telling “I can hear him now, I can hear him now” at 2:33 - 2:35 but anyone is paying attention because it’s Isabella’s turn . Like we can understand that she is hearing him from this spot but no one is listening to her 😅… She totally killed it at her part of the song anyway…

2:50 reminds me of that quote from the movie, Amadeus, where Mozart says: " ...only opera can do this. In a play if more than one person speaks at the same time, it's just noise, no one can understand a word. But with opera, with music... with music you can have twenty individuals all talking at the same time, and it's not noise, it's a perfect harmony". Loving the polyphony in this song!!
One thing that I see no one talking about is about how none of Bruno's prophecies are set in stone if something moves to change them. We can see this specifically in Dolores' prophecy, because she actually DOES get the man of her dreams in the end. Tia specifically sings about how he put the thought of rain in her mind, which is why it rained. If she had stayed calm and not worried about it, the sky would have stayed clear. Isabella's prophecy was that she would get her dream life, which she would NEVER have gotten if Mirabel hadn't exposed her true feelings and worked them out with her. If you don't ACT to change your prophecy, either positive or negative, it won't change.
I think the reason Dolores' prophecy was changed was because it happened after the events with the house and Mirabels prophecy, which they believed to have multiple possible outcomes, as for the rain thing, he actually said it wasn't a prophecy at all, it was him just trying to be comforting and it was just miscommunicated and taken the wrong way
I don't really agree with your arguments because: 1. Dolores said that the prophecy Bruno gave was that "The man of her dreams would be just out of reach, betrothed to another" but it never said that that was permanent/that was the end of the prophecy. It was likely that he could have stopped his prophecy before it got to the end result of Delores getting with Mariano, similar to what he did with Mirabel's prophecy. 2. He didn't do a prophecy for Pepa's wedding. But I still believe that the prophecies can be created without a specific end result due to Mirabel's future having a holographic effect.
Future can be changed. That's what predictions are for, to warn you so you'll make better choices, but people don't realize it. They think it's to sit and wait for the prediction become true. (I read tarot, so I know a bit about that) Probably the abs guy wouldn't have gained "stomach" if he took better care of himself, though the fish and hair's destinies would harder to prevent.
Bruno's power is only to see the future. At some point, mirabel did make Mariano kneel in front of Isabella holding a ring. So, Bruno sees that and make a conclusion Mariano is already betrothed to Isabella. In the case with Tia Pepa, Bruno's reputation of bringing bad prophecies must have been at it's peak so, at the wedding, when Bruno sees Pepa sweating (as mentioned in All Of You song), he simply said in the lines of, "it must be raining later". Tia Pepa hearing him say that, clouds her mind and the weather changed.
Betrothed & married don’t have the same meaning, it was just a matter of incorrect interpretation of the vision! My thought is that one’s personal interpretation of Bruno’s prophesies affect how they view their future! Plus, as we see in Bruno’s vision scene in Antonio’s room, he’s not exactly the best at describing his visions clearly. That most likely also had an affect on the wording of the prophecies!
I love how during Isabela’s solo she appears as her perfect persona, looking so happy and carefree. What she sings sounds like it’s a great fortune since it’s like, to others it looks like she has her perfect life. But why does she sing her part in a song about how Bruno’s readings have been so negative for everyone else? Because she felt like hers was never actually gonna come true at that part of the song. She never really wanted to marry Mariano, and she feels weighed down by the pressure of having to be “perfect”. She was never able to explore her gift until later on in the movie. Hopefully this makes sense but I love this whole song and how it characterizes each character in it, but I wanted to comment on Isabela’s part specifically

My favorite part is Dolores', Camilo's, and, most importantly, the last sequence where everyone is singing along. That part is really great because you can hear one certain line from one of the characters really clearly, but when you try to focus on another character's singing, you can hear another different line. That cool effect of combining different audios together but making them cohesive and smooth is why I think this song, along with Surface Pressure, Family Madrigal, and Columbia mi Encanto, is my favorite one.
Edit: It's supposed to be *Colombia* Mi Encanto (sorry lol), and I almost forgot to mention Dos Origuitas as my favorite.
What I also really like about this song is that there are so many different characters singing along with different parts, and it just makes the song filled with variety and diversity. Camilo's part is frighteningly amazing, Dolores' first part is subversively really chilling, her second part is like a love story musical. Isabela's part is angelic and beautiful, and much more. This is hands down one of the coolest Disney songs ever!

This kind of just drives home Dolores's perspective here. She's sympathetic to Bruno, but clearly still scared of him (note the present tense of "I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling"). Imagine her growing up with her scary uncle in the walls, knowing that she can't tell anyone because she understands that it isn't his fault, but too afraid of him and his prophecies to reach out and help. No wonder she's so twitchy and incapable of keeping Mirabel's secret. She already has a massive burden to deal with.

The way their COMPLETELY separate singing just fits together so perfectly is almost a metaphor of the puzzle pieces mirabelle is putting together. For example, Isabella’s and aunt peppas high notes just fit together so perfectly “-*cloud* in the sky” with the “-*someday* be mine” part 2:53 Just fits so PERFECTLY. Both of their COMPLETELY DIFFERENT lyrics, singing, and music genre just compliment each other. It was as if their lyrics were made to fit. LIKE THEY LITERALLY SOUND LIKE THE EXACT SAME SONG! “Cloud in the sky” and “someday be mine” both Ryhme so imagine the speed and timing they needed to achieve this. Honestly... this movie is one of the best one's I've seen in years. Almost perfect pacing, none of the humor falls short, characters have depth, animation is incredible and music numbers and dialogue are outstanding. I've been waiting for the full music video to come out for this song because it's a great showcase for the movie as a whole. Even without the context of the prophecy and the glowing sheet thingie, you can pretty much infer what the base story of the movie is just from this number. Also, I really love how Mirabel copies the dance moves/dramatic motions of the characters around her while they're singing (leaning back when someone leans towards her, dancing with Dolores, the little shoulder shrugs when Pepa and Felix are singing, as well as Felix literally spinning her into the next scene!) it is SO GOOD.
I contest you on the “perfect pacing” part. It’s rather slow to start and then goes far too quickly at the end. We barely get any room to breathe and bask in the high after What More Can I Do before Abuela walks in on them and tanks the mood, and we barely get a denouement after the house returns. A common response to the credits appearing has been “oh, it’s over already!”, and several people I’ve seen online have said they wished they could have given us a few extra minutes to expand Camilo and Delores’s parts. The show-stopping numbers (Surface Pressure and Waiting On A Miracle) being front-loaded doesn’t help the uneven pacing distribution either.
Everything else is amazing, though, which is why I think the pace bothers me so much.

Pacing?? You can miss 5 minutes and get lost. They are way too fast at times to where it'd kinda hard to keep up with story. But I do like this movie. The songs at times are way to fast and when they sing half in Spanish I feel like audience who don't understand Spanish get confused or lost. Even my mother who is Peruvian was kinda confused at the end of the film lol

Something I never noticed until someone pointed it out to me: at the end when they’re all dancing around Mirabel singing their parts, Isabela’s part changes the second verse after singing about Bruno saying the life of her dreams would be hers and she starts saying “And I’m fine. I’m fine. Things are fine, fine, fine.” with a very clear look of worry and sadness on her face. It’s one of those moments when she breaks her “miss perfect” character and shows that she’s struggling to pretend she’s okay and is probably really hoping Bruno’s vision was right and everything will turn out okay for her. I love that little detail.

Also all of the people's perceptions of him show him as this sinister, creepy and cruel person. When in reality he was actually really chill and just wanted to help. The best example is in Pepa's verse how she says he walked up with a "sinister grin" when he was only grinning because he was being a dorky older brother just teasing his sister about her being nervous so he made a joke. But because everyone was so afraid of him, they assumed the worst out of him. The movie had him set up to be this evil wizard terrorizing everyone, but they were all wrong

One thing that I see no one talking about is about how none of Bruno's prophecies are set in stone if something moves to change them. We can see this specifically in Dolores' prophecy, because she actually DOES get the man of her dreams in the end. Tia specifically sings about how he put the thought of rain in her mind, which is why it rained. If she had stayed calm and not worried about it, the sky would have stayed clear.
Isabella's prophecy was that she would get her dream life, which she would NEVER have gotten if Mirabel hadn't exposed her true feelings and worked them out with her. If you don't ACT to change your prophecy, either positive or negative, it won't change.
I think the reason Dolores' prophecy was changed was because it happened after the events with the house and Mirabels prophecy, which they believed to have multiple possible outcomes, as for the rain thing, he actually said it wasn't a prophecy at all, it was him just trying to be comforting and it was just miscommunicated and taken the wrong way
I don't really agree with your arguments because:
1. Dolores said that the prophecy Bruno gave was that "The man of her dreams would be just out of reach, betrothed to another" but it never said that that was permanent/that was the end of the prophecy. It was likely that he could have stopped his prophecy before it got to the end result of Delores getting with Mariano, similar to what he did with Mirabel's prophecy.
2. He didn't do a prophecy for Pepa's wedding.
But I still believe that the prophecies can be created without a specific end result due to Mirabel's future having a holographic effect.
Future can be changed. That's what predictions are for, to warn you so you'll make better choices, but people don't realize it. They think it's to sit and wait for the prediction become true. (I read tarot, so I know a bit about that) Probably the abs guy wouldn't have gained "stomach" if he took better care of himself, though the fish and hair's destinies would harder to prevent.
Bruno's power is only to see the future. At some point, mirabel did make Mariano kneel in front of Isabella holding a ring. So, Bruno sees that and make a conclusion Mariano is already betrothed to Isabella. In the case with Tia Pepa, Bruno's reputation of bringing bad prophecies must have been at it's peak so, at the wedding, when Bruno sees Pepa sweating (as mentioned in All Of You song), he simply said in the lines of, "it must be raining later". Tia Pepa hearing him say that, clouds her mind and the weather changed.
Betrothed & married don’t have the same meaning, it was just a matter of incorrect interpretation of the vision! My thought is that one’s personal interpretation of Bruno’s prophesies affect how they view their future! Plus, as we see in Bruno’s vision scene in Antonio’s room, he’s not exactly the best at describing his visions clearly. That most likely also had an affect on the wording of the prophecies!

I love how during Isabela’s solo she appears as her perfect persona, looking so happy and carefree. What she sings sounds like it’s a great fortune since it’s like, to others it looks like she has her perfect life. But why does she sing her part in a song about how Bruno’s readings have been so negative for everyone else? Because she felt like hers was never actually gonna come true at that part of the song. She never really wanted to marry Mariano, and she feels weighed down by the pressure of having to be “perfect”. She was never able to explore her gift until later on in the movie.
Hopefully this makes sense but I love this whole song and how it characterizes each character in it, but I wanted to comment on Isabela’s part specifically
