I bought the Eachine 800 goggles and I'm planning to use them with my Raspberry Pi 3. I had to by some spacers as the focal length is too short for me, so I can't use the goggles at the moment. Hopefully, they'll come in the post in the new year and then I'll be able to watch all my videos whilst laying on my back on the sofa.

Thanks for taking the things apart for Us to see what it has inside , this helps with the evaluation of whether it's a Diversity or just Dual Antennas , and other things . :)

I’ve had mine a few weeks now and it’s a great $100 ride along goggles with really cool features that just don’t perform well enough for anything more than ride along goggles.
The S is because they were originally called the Topsky1 but Patrick st Ar convinced them to make a last minute change and they became the 1 “s” version late in the game. That explains the added S sticker

Took me 3 days as well, but it's an interesting headset to dive into. Just too bad about the issues. You experienced a couple different ones from me. No dead pixels here and the channel/scan works, but left doesn't work on my mode joystick. I can't lower any settings. There's also an issue with the diversity. It doesn't switch to the left receiver. This is apparently a widespread problem as nobody has reported that the left receiver works.

It's a real shame. They're on the right track, but they just fall short. There must be a serious management problem to let so many broken products out the door.
@@whiffles i like the looks so much. And plastic is tough. But no external power leds and left receiver not working. They were almost good :( Anyone got that left RX working?

Well, I got some today, hoping for the best. Silly me. The left IPD slider was missing and the whole left side is loose, it just moves as soon as tilt goggles. Similar to you, the focus doesn't make a difference. Luckily Pay Pal say they will cover me if BangGood don't offer a full refund.... :)
I have these goggles and I don't like blur/dim display colors. Everything else is OK when I flip lenses for my old nearsighted eyes
what about pulling the power wires and battery to the outside, removing the "battery tray"/slot and maybe putting longer guide screws on the "black screen box"...would you be able to adjust the screens further away from the lenses then or does the outer case stop the screens from moving further back? ps: thanx for your super videos and all the hard work you put down;) Allt the best!!/Vic

I've been asking multiple companies for a google box style goggle for maybe two years now. Those are some frikin massive screens. If they could just find screens 1/2 or 1/4 the size and stick them in the same box with everything the same it would be fantastic...at least the view of things. It will seemingly always be a life dream of mine to be able to control one of these Chinesee companies. It would be so fun. I could make such amazing things.

From what I've been gathering since I joined this hobby, Chinese manufacturers aren't very good at following design instructions and take quite the liberty with their cost cutting exercises. But then, I'm preaching to the choir.

Sorry about the loser unit, hopefully they can get it right. Would be fantastic to see a pair of these with these features at this price. Great starter unit for sure, I would definitely be interested for a pair for back ups or friend use. I to my friend have many "tear rags" too, lol. Try changing from NTSC to PAL (if it's possible). That maybe fix the auto searching problem.

As sad as all the weird bugs and faults are, it's still hilarious how it started working again after. This is gonna be my go to way to "repair" anything in the future 😂 There's still a printer that needs to be taken care of 🤔

The image seems useable for the price, you get what you pay for, so for someone thinking about getting into the hobby an ok set to try as long as you know how to strip them down then put them back together lol Great review Andy you were so diplomatic with the description of theses. you should be a politician lol

Good review andy, mine turned up in pretty good condition and works pretty well, your tear down does explain why I can't quite focus though, I think it needs a tiny bit more IPD and Diopter but when i compare them to the EV100s I bought I actually think they're ok the screen size makes a big difference for me.... assuming you get one thats put together properly that is. I'm pretty new to FPV though

Andy I love it when it's actually possible to fix things these days rather than just tolerate them half-working or return/bin them. You seem to get an awful lot for your money with these, so logic would suggest the components are crap or they're put together by kids with ADHD in a dusty old warehouse. Gotta be worth a shot if you can't afford Fatsharks, or, like me, just think their prices are stupid.

You know, you would think they would test and retest the goggles they send to reviewers. It's not a good sign when majority of the reviewers are getting sets with problems and are broken. What does this tell about quality control?!? I am still waiting for mine, which I paid for with my own money, and I am starting to be afraid that I threw my money at a piece of junk...on top of that, I pre-ordered mine, for more money than they currently cost, so I am getting the shaft on both ends....pre-orders should be provided at a better deal than people who just order when available.
P.S. Thanks for taking the time to pull this apart, was really curious on the internals. The cost and the construction do kind of go together. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that mine is not this messy, as when they work, the reception seems really good.

What! What happened...I broke it.... lol 😎 When these were first marketed they had dual diversity modules similar to the EV200s. Wonder what happened, guess they went to the budget way. Competition is always good in my opinion. Hopefully we continue to see more and more options. I kinda like these for what they are though :)

The pair that I have received is missing one of the IPD moving slider and are so out of fosus that the diopter adjustment is useless because the focus for the menu or the on sd carrd writing and all they can say ie they dont know and get send it back and get a credit and who front for the return postage you have to question if there is any Quality control and they send out any old shit whether its working or not.

dvr was done after the fix, there is a continuity error where i show the dvr playback it was added in after the fix after they became fully functional. cheers
fantastic break down Andy. What about eye strain, did you feel cross eyed or anything. Cal and I had some real troubles with the focus, alignment and getting sore eyes but maybe they have fixed this since when we tested them.
UAVfutures I had eye strain and seeing double vision, I had to make myself go cross eyed then try focus on the screen. I ended up cutting up a spare lens I had from my Quanum V2’s and stuck it over the existing lens to get more magnification. Now I have a perfect image and no eye strain.
Also check to see if ur left receiver is working. Looks like the diversity won’t switch. It’s stuck on the right receiver.
I had some trouble focusing at first, but when I set the IPDs to their widest that made a huge difference. I've heard you can pry the lens caps off and flip the lenses to further help with the focus, but I haven't tried that yet.
Hmm can't say I did get that but that is how well your eyes adjust to parallax perhaps I've been doing 3d viewing for too long haha, I can even free view so perhaps its something i wasn't able to pick up on. Look forward to your guys perspective. I can see why people would get that yes and happens to me with box goggles that have a short distance between the lens and the screen. Thx
I think focus is a major problem for Box style goggles, but don`t need to be. I don’t use glasses, not even to read and have problems with focus. I have some goggles: my first a DIY 5” 800x600 screen, second is a Eachine VR009(the best), a VR006 and a VR011. I try from friends a Skyzone 1, Fatshark HD2, and commander V1 but really like the big FOV. On VR011 I calculate the focal distance of the lens, is 330mm, distance to screen is 60mm and distance to lens to eye more 60mm, using lensmaker equation the virtual image is at 130mm! A normal person can focus on 250mm minimum distance, 130mm is below that! I really don´t understand, why don´t use a lens that put the virtual image at least 250mm? Google cardboard use a 45mm focal point lens and 45mm screen distance resulting in focus at infinity, how hard is this? In fatshark style the focus is at 6 feet, I can see fine, fatshark uses two lens, is to expensive put an extra lens on a box goggle?
I didn’t get any antennas in my box. But I pico and releec about ten seconds to turn on. And 5 seconds to turn off. Also I do have a sd card in and it’s still showin that I have no card in 🤔

lol good job getting them going, hopefully they prove to be more robust than the condition they arrived in. the 480 res screens though? i wish you'd tried a 16-9 camera too. i'm ok with a stretched 4-3 but i dunno about a 16-9?.. there must be some reason companies don't offer ratio options? anyway i think i saw somebody use an external battery and was able to get diopter full range. is the two screen image better to use than an ev800d? at this price i might risk it and use them as ride alongs if i don't like them. good job topsky and great job andy.
I did try a 16:9 camera and it looked good though these. I guess thats a benefit i should of mentioned both 4:3 and 16:9 can be flown with them
I'm not sure, most of the reviews I've seen have been consistently saying they are sub par or defective in some way. Hope they work it all out cause it looks borderline ok
Got mine a couple of weeks ago.The LH Rx isn`t working and the focus was crap due to the lenses being flipped.Sorted the lenses by flipping them the right way,but no joy with the rx,the image is also quite dark.
Did you make the left rx work in meantime?

I ordered some of these from Gearbest, weeks without them being dispatch, I have cancelled the order. I had a similar issue with EV200D from Banggood, ordered on preorder, after over 4 months waiting I got a full refund. Probably lucky escape with these.

Nice review Andy. I think I am getting the EV200D, but I haven't quite made up my mind yet. It is a big decission to make, choosing what goggles to get and I wish I could try before I buy :-) reason for my choice is its versatility with regards to external VTRs and it allready has hardware controlled diversity, wich should be faster than software diversity, and fatshark facepads seem to fit the EV200d wich is nice. Do you think the EV200d are an ok choice or should I wait til spring time and see what is comming? Or maybe just save up for Fatsharks? I am patient.
i did find the quadversity useful at all just heavy, id run em with just the two. fatsharks are my daily although they keep failing at the mo which is annoying be but they do fix em

Hi Andy, I got one of these but pictures are blurry even the onscreen text are blurry, is there any solution for this?
Experienced same with just received one Watched video and realized diopter needed adjustment as far-sighted. Took the battery out and --using the diopter wheels--moved the lenses as far back (toward the goggles front) as possible that took away battery space where I ended up taping it to the front the goggles. On-screen text is now a bit more clear but not as clear as DJI goggles.

if you power them on while they are charging nothing works. but if you connect a bigger 1s battery to that jst connector you could mod it. no need though. 1 hour 20 constant use will get u more than a days flying

Too bad., If they could fix the bugs these look promising for their size. They would probably sell allot. Maybe charge a few bucks more for some quality control.
Here's my view of what has happened here. All the signs are there. So I was in a group waiting for the Prime 1 version. It was a duel module, duel antenna version. This was in June i am speaking of. I think they were not able to get it to work or it failed while trying to get them out with the parts they received. I was returned my money and told that the Prime 1 wasn't going to happen. What i think has happened here was they had to pull all of them all apart and redo them all with the parts for the single antenna set up with new modules. This would explain what we have seen so far with all the early ones reviewed. I have seen broken buttons, bad connects and so on as if they were all used goggles you would get on ebay. My set is in like freaking Illinois or something. Feel free to watch for my video when it comes out soon to see what mine is like. I will also show you what the Prime 1 was going to look like.
The Quadcopter Review - Hi Pepe P. I am thinking of getting the EV200d but cant make up my mind, I dont want to make a bad buy and what goggles to get is an important choice. Since I hope to use them for many years to come. Wish I could make up my mind ( fatshark is an obvious choice but how are they going to get competition if we don't support other brands? ) So hard to make a choice.
@@SOLARFPV unfortunately, nothing really compares to fat sharks yet, other than the Aomways and maybe some Skyzones. Many people have a good time with their EV200Ds from what I'm gathering, but I think there's still not a cheap Goggle you're going to be 100% satisfied with. The best cheap googles are still the EV800D imo. Their screen looks so amazing and crisp that I almost felt sorry when I bought my Dominator V3s. I'm really just using them for their portability.
@@Sh4pp0 thanks for sayin that, i struggled with a decision to buy the ev200d's or the new flysky nirvana, i keep hearing seasoned pilots say they fly a wing with box goggles but quads with fatsharks.... i think its harder to fly box goggles because it is more immersive.... but why are we flying if not to be immersed as much as possible. i dont care how much harder it is to fly a quad with box's, i think i'm gonna stick with them until fatshark types have huge immersive field of view.
TheMadmacs I actually think that fat sharks are more immersive. Or goggles with two displays in general. That’s one of the reasons I loved using them from the very first moment I flew with them. Although the blurriness and washed out colors threw me off at first, I felt like it was easier for me to evade obstacles. Almost like I had a better idea of the distance I had to objects. Kinda like a slight 3D effect if you know what I’m trying to say here. I know that it’s obviously not 3D since there’s only one camera, but that’s how it felt for me. I instantly became more confident in my flying. The EV800Ds have an amazing screen, sharp resolution, great color reproduction, but they feel... well.. just flat 😂 As far as the Nirvana goes, there was just too much hype and prototypes being sent out even if they weren’t supposed to. That lead people to believe that they didn’t know what they were doing, but I think it’s an amazing radio. It’s just not worth it for me personally at the moment as I am perfectly fine with my QX7. Also that touch screen interface looks painfully slow to me from what I’ve seen in the reviews. I wouldn’t want to set up all my functions and whatnot on there.

Hi bought them just out of curiosity, I use reading glasses and cant adjust these goggles at all. Yet I also bought ev100 and ev200 and they are fine. dont no what to say. Ya get what ya pay for ? Just luck of the draw? LOL I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy,
The resolution is a lie. It's bot even close to being right. One of the biggest problems with these is that the image quality is so bad. So muddy and you can barley see where you going. The fat shark recon's are way better.
This product looked fantastic at first for new flyers but sadly would give them more problems and put them off due to a wast of money on something that should work out of the box. There are many plug in options (modules) that can just be plugged into goggles, also make a battery compartment so pilots can change the battery as pilots without power are grumpy. I never get why they have to fake the specs as there is no point as you will only put of your customers from purchasing more products from that manufacturer if they find out. New flyers will be happy with a set of cheap goggles so no need to fake the specifications. From what I see look wise they fit the bill just need it working out of the box, battery changing option.
I bought them. Im complete noob. It is the only drone related item in three months, since I started, that I preordered and did not wait for review. On arrival, left RX was not working. Box was same with added letter and some printer over specs. Received full refund.

i think the tape just covers up leds that dont need to be seen.
