    For anyone considering buying this bike and being around the height of 5"6(My height), getting a smaller bike or shorter seat post is a must. I recently ordered this bike from my bike shop, medium size, and I could not even sit on the seat before I started. Standing over the frame ahead of the seat my crotch was touching the frame. Using a bike this tall to learn would probably be impossible.
    As for some extra info, I'm sure the frame is the correct size and if they cut the seat post I could stand over it well and touch my toes to the ground and keep my balance, but I have been searching for a bike I can touch the ground easier and kickoff easier.
    Hope this helps!

      @828findadventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a shorter seat post would help. If you cut your seat post mark it 5" above where you cut it. This is so enough post is in the frame. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you! I just bought this yesterday. I’m a first time rider. The bike shop cut the post but I’ll go ahead and replace the post and seat with your recommendation. I haven’t rode a bike in 15 years and I’m a little intimidated lol

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Since you are a little intimidated I would suggest keeping your seat lower than normal to start. Just a little bit until you get used to the bike and riding it downhill. I might even suggest keeping your first ride to the flat trails until you have figured out changing gears and how quickly the brakes work. Have a great time..

    Looking at one for myself at REI (July 2024) for $535. I haven't purchased a new bike in years (I'm 51) and have scoured marketplace and for used 5-10 yr bikes, are still asking $250-$500 and you never know what you are going to get. I'm not a serious mountain biker by any means [ I get my adrenalin rush from riding dirt bikes :-) ] but wanting a solid entry/mid level bike for the park/light trail to ride with my boys and I don't want to go the Walmart/Academy Sports avenue either. The salesman just today stated maybe around Labor day they might have some sales? I looked at one today and really really like it: and more importantly the fit and feel for me is perfect at 5' 10" (L) which is key in my book. IDK might take the plunge soon? Nothing like a brand new fresh bike and have REI tune it before it leaves the store along with a year of free maintenance is something you just can't get with a used bike. Nice video and hopefully you are still enjoying it!

    Ungrading the saddle is a must to avoid a pain in the rear end.
    The chain slap is a reminder to go easy when on a ride. Disc brakes are essential when bombing a hill or to let others know your slowing down. Sharp looking without breaking the bank. The XL frame is perfect for a 6 footer that has a healthy appetite.

    Beware: Read Cannondale’s fine print in their Limited Warranty Policy. They may use it against you for their best interest. My $5000.000 carbon fiber frame Jekyll broke after only six years of use. Cannondale never made a finding that it was due to use or abuse. A hairline crack formed at a weak point in the frame. The bike was sold to me with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The best offer Cannondale gave me, under their lifetime warranty, was 20% off of retail - yes, that is right 20% off of retail. I fought them on it over a two month period and lost. So, I am now stuck with a 34lb paperweight. Cannondale has what I feel is the worse warranty in the bike business. If you do purchase a Cannondale bike and something goes wrong, know that they probably will not work with you at any level in your best interest. In my opinion, they do do not value you as a customer, they only value your money. This has been my experience.

    Why not cut the seat post? If you need to lower the seat, cut the post by the amount you need to lower it then you don't have to worry about the limit. If you think about it, how is that any different than installing a shorter seat post? Otherwise, nice review, thanks.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      My only problem with cutting the seat post is the limit line on the post. You always need about three to four inches into the seat tube of the frame for stability. It would be really easy to raise the seat too high and break the frame if not careful. I guess that's my old school bike mechanic training speaking. LOL

    • @ytj22
      @ytj22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@828findadventure Agreed, in this case 4.75" of the seat post should remain in the frame. But it would be exactly the same thing if you purchase a shorter seat post, you would need to ensure 4.75" of the shorter post remains inside the frame too. Essentially you're purchasing a cut seat post. Cut the post and put a new line on at 4.75" from the end and voila! Either way, have a wonderful day, cheers.

      @@den1587 I will admit the fork is heavy by about 1 Lb than other forks, But that is just one pound. The frame and wheels are light. Best to go with tubless tires, add an alloy crank and alloy pedals. That would shave 2 LBs.

      @@48.dragos For the price it is great. If you bomb downhills and like to catch air you will need to upgrade the fork. As for components? If you crash your bike a lot the plastic pedals and derailers won't last, but you are not supposed to crash. The frame is a great base and if you break something replace it with something better.
