Tha answer was quick, and cold. Almost mechanical. As if he already asked this question a thousand times. Well, I knew my orders. Of course, I knew what Commander Flash told us. Everybody knew. I just was too afraid to answer, but he kept asking.
- Soldier. *What. Are. Your. Orders.*
Barely able the breathe, i managed to mutter a few words out of fear in the device.
- To... to *yeet*, sir. No matter what.

I’ve been watching these replays for over a year and this game was by far the one that had me on the edge of my seat. So many times I would have just resigned if it was me. That medium tank was the little engine that could.
Felt like he was winning every single day but at some point a massive unit count difference built up despite the income difference. Other than urban blight the winning move was probably running from those two medium tanks. You could have easily wasted your entire army down there trying to push through that but by heading north they ended up accomplishing not much.
That was a pretty savage comeback. Congrats on the win, even if it was just an exhibition match.
Starflash's playstyle feels like he's an in-game CO at this point... With a d2d along the lines of "non-indirect, non-infantry units have +20% attack but lose 30% attack and 10% defence if they didn't attack that turn".
...ok. For most of the video I wasn't convinced this match was so interesting. Then the comeback happened and I was almost laughing out loud. That was crazy! Urban blight is so strong for a COP on this type of map...
This was a very impressive win. Definitely showcases the power of Com tower advantage and taking repetitive cost effective engagements
I discovered this channel like a month ago. Loved the advance wars games as a kid, and never knew there was an active online community still.
Now with this out of the way, that was the single greatest game I have ever seen. A nailbitter start to finish. Plot twists. Comebacks. Domination. Even a Piperunner !
This game had it all.
Haha it was funny to see Mangs getting so excited in the last 5-10 turns as he turned the game around to pull out that win. These commentaries are super fun!
What a wild ride ! Urban blight sure was invaluable not to get stomped in the capture game. Staying focused in the verge of defeat, being like 11k behind is not easy too.
That has got to be the best advance wars game I've ever seen, in terms of sheer joy to watch. Well done, to both of you.

I don't like that you say Kindle is OP, because lash is way better on this map. I am actually really proud of the engagements you had. Whereas Starflash was just ramming his units into yours.
And I don't dislike starflash like I dislike incuggarch, but these grandmas really have to start playing more live matches. Move planner and 1 hour turns are crutches.
It reminds me of back in school where I used to get 100 scores on tests I finished in 15 minutes, while the nerds struggled to get over 90 spending hours on the tests.

Actually, those are Starflash's properties and you've done a great job interrupting them! If you check the mirror on the top left, you have both of those properties, so denying Starflash from capturing them is help you keep your income lead.
I was finally able to finish watching this one, you really have come a long way, beating a grandmaster on a equal tier match, I've always wanted to run into you in GL but now, yeah I'm absolutely getting roflstomped if it happens so there's definitely a training arc I need to go through if I want to at least be strong enough to keep it competitive.

I just finished this match starflash had this match for so long but the extra value that urban blight gave you helped cut into the extra funds he was getting for being in the lead with properties
Yeah, this is why I disagree with Lash being the main pick on this map. Urban Blight is just too much value over the course of a long game. Lash might be able to win if she can get an advantage early, but her Prime Tactics doesn't come in fast enough for that. It requires you to have an insane turn where you basically win using your super, but that's tough to do in mixed base since there's so many fronts.

The other day I did win a match with Lash's COP by getting a anti-air to shoot down a bomber which had a forest in front of it. SCOP may just be better, but when you can make game ending turns with the COP it's definitely worth it. Funny enough that was against Kindle.

A Byo-yomi clock system would work well with AW live matches. I think AWBW should focus more then they have in the past on live match format. I haven't gotten into the site really because most games are long form and I'll forget. That's what always happened in Diplomacy games at least.
Yes! I always cringe a bit when telling people the timing system is "a chess timer", since it neglects one fantastic clock mode…

Based on the Kindle matches I've watched in this channel, including the video where Kindle economically demolishes a tier 0 CO like Kanbei, I seriously propose that Kindle should be bumped 1 tier higher (or at least open an argument to do so).
I have used Kindle only a few times in Dual Strike only because I want to unlock her Alt costume design and for completion purposes. Now though, by watching competitive matches like these, I've grown a new fascination and respect for this CO and I might see myself using her more often~

I've only played AW DS and Days of Ruin by myself for a decade, thinking that AW is a dying community. Apparently it's still being kept alive and going stronger than I've remembered. It was a long video but it was an enjoyable video and unexpected one beacuse for example seeing game in middle of time you would bet that starflash will win that it turned otherwise which made that vid somehow special than usual commentaries beacuse of this unpredictible nature.

I didn't enter this tournament because I hit a losing streak in the last week before signup, with one particularly painful loss involving a stupid vision drop on my part. I'm feeling a bit of regret now.
It was a real joy to follow, I didn't see the hour go by
I picked Lash for this map based on my own conclusions (nothing to do with the grandmasters) and also maybe a bit of favoritism as well. I wonder if my match (also against Kindle) might possibly be considered nutty, but it was certainly no banger compared to this.
Kindle is definitely scary for Lash, but the big reason you won is that Starflash tried to take your bases without sufficient artillery backup, and didn't respond to your tech up for a very long time.

The Lash hype here is baffling me, looking at the CO options I only saw Kindle as viable 😂

Wished that you could build specialised units like amphibious AA, recons and light tanks, but they have worse fuel consumption and a slight movement penalty on other terrain.
I think this map is too big for Lash to be favored over Kindle, I definitely think there are maps where she *is* but terrain tactics biggest advantage on maps like Caustic Finale is how dangerously easy it is for her to completely frontswitch on a dime and catch you off guard repeatedly while stacking up extra damage from her day to day terrain star bonus bit by bit. Its not a significant gain but it will absolutely add up over the course of a match if you're patient. On that note, I also think she's a CO that very much favors defensive play and walling on advantageous terrain and forcing your opponent to make bad engagements rather than, uh, yeeting units into the urban blender. Which again, leads to why terrain tactics is so *good* as a CO power. On top of forcing your opponent to either play around a CO power that you're not going to pop (because you want to save up for that juicy double terrain stars) or leave themselves open to some disgusting plays, it lets you snipe all the good terrain away before a critical engagement.
I don't think she's the strongest t3 CO, even remotely, but I do think people tend to vastly underestimate how much pressure she can force just by *threatening* to use her normal CO power since they get blinded by the allure of double terrain stars. So in that sense, I really appreciate how willing Starflash was to just throw out her normal power when they could take advantage of it.
e: also this match makes me really wish awbw had the starcraft style individual unit kill tally/promotion system where you could track an individual's kill record. Maybe something like days of ruin's system but without the stat benefits, just a menu option for laughs to see how much value they've earned.

Recently, I've been on a heavy losing streak on AWBW. I keep screwing up either during the capture phase, or during the first major "push" of the match. Either I over extend too quickly, or I hold back and wait too long. I also struggle with identifying which side of a map is it's "strong" side, and which is the "weak" side.
Do you have any videos on how to properly capture chain, as well as quickly identify or get an idea of which front side is best to open a match with?

You may not have the property advantage, but that doesn't seem to matter as your urban blight saps away 6-8 properties in value for repairs at the start of the turn. Half way through, starflashs turn, had 3600 in the bank and income of 26000, but at the start of the turn has only 23600 to spend :O
