I’m on the fence with snipers on COD, I’m not a fan of quick scoping but at the same time I think it’s the only effective way to use SRs. Considering the pace of the game, size of the maps and lack of open lines of sight on most maps, actual more traditional sniping doesn’t fit the game. With the exception of some stages of War maps, for most part, quick scoping is the only way to be truly effective with a sniper rifle and the only fix to this would be to stop putting in or removing the SRs from the game which will never happen. I’d like to see COD change it up, forget adding a battle royale style mode and create a mode with much larger maps with teams of up to 20-30 players on each side as a larger version of Domination, similar to Conquest on Battlefield just without vehicles and stuff. This will allow for more traditional sniper gameplay, and a more tactical approach to the game when using other classes.
My favorite sniper is the lee enfield. My thoughts on the type 38. I feel that it is a bit to good right now, it shouldn't outperform the lee enfield in every category, the only thing the lee enfield has over the type 38 is the magazine capacity.
I only like Type-38 of it's "seemingly powerful cannon sound" when firing, but other than that, i don't think it is that good compare to Kar98 and M1903. It's 4* Optic sucks and it's fire power is not strong. Nevertheless, i have learned in this video that it doesn't sway as much as other sniper rifles, and have aim assist without the need to hold breathe. So, i might try it out again as sometimes, i don't feel like holding my breathe while sniping.
The lee einfield is my favorite, but i really want the arisaka. They shouldnt nerf it, the snipers are pretty well balanced at the moment and I really like that
If it is its not even noticeable in my opinion. You should give it a shot. I use airborne with scoped, Type38 with 4x, rapid fire and ballistic calibration. It seems to work really well for me
Type 38 needs a scope nerf. One dude got 120 kills the first half of a domination match on shipment. Luckily, he wasn't playing the objective and we won. But fuck was it aggravating when you Spawn and die 15 times in a row.
The whole "this needs a nerf" thing is the reason the games get so stale to me. The gun has the same 1 shot area as the Enfield. It has a BARELY quicker ADS time and a BARELY faster rechamber time. The difference is that the Enfield gets double the ammo AND ammo capacity. These are the differences(barely). So instead we now think it needs a nerf so instead it can be a worse Enfield.
TheXclusiveAce You didn't, but you have a good knack for when things WILL get nerfed. If they are nerfing it, they aren't arbitrarily doing it without complaint.
I tend to have a knack for it because I understand weapon balance in CoD better than most. It's literally my job to break these thing down to their most basic level and I have many years of experience with this. Clear weapon imbalances tend to be pretty easy to pick out before complaints even begin. I feel buffs and nerfs are most often a result of global data, rather than complaints from the community and I agree, they don't typically nerf things arbitrarily by any means.
While I would agree with some of it, global data is actually not great on "Overpowered" guns. Unless you are only looking at "most used weapon," you typically have people of every skill level using the same thing. Other companies sometimes show their global data on things that the community considers overpowered, and while sometimes it clearly IS overpowered, there are many times people just don't like something because good players excel with it. However, what global data will typically show with these things is that the weapons globally perform extremely average since players who are terrible use the weapon just as often as good players use it. My other point was that by constantly nerfing things to be "in line" with each other, each gun loses most of their individuality. I know there were MANY broken things in MW2(Tubes and commando knifing) but one of the most interesting things is that for nearly every single gun in that game, you could find a group of people saying that the gun was overpowered. MW2 had an incredible variety of weapons and honestly I can't really tell you a single gun that functioned the same as any of the others. While TTK was low, you could easily translate that to a higher TTK while retaining the original designs of the weapons. With modern CoD titles, every other weapon has their highs and lows gradually tightened and brought in line with all the other weapons. Eventually the PPSH feels just like the MP-40 which also somehow feels like the Type 100 after several buffs. They all lost their individuality and I can honestly use any of them the exact same way since they feel exactly the same(and stat-wise end up quite close). Now I basically have 1 type of SMG(those three) and the fast firing group(Thompson and Waffe) who also now feel the same after nerfs and buffs. Effectively now there are "three" SMGs instead of all the pre-nerf version that felt different. That is what makes it stale.
Tbh I feel the same. But this game takes place in 1944. There aren't many things they could change around. Although some guns like the EMP44 are genuinely unique.

But people get killed by fire shotguns way more than being quickscoped by a sniper and there is a lot less crying. Instant death from up close is ok, but instant death from far away is bad? Realignment of perspective is required here. Shotgun up close one shot insta-kill takes less skill than up-close sniper insta-kill. Anybody with thumbs can shotgun, but qs'ing takes practice and focus. I just finished the special order for 100 matches for 2 heroic bribes and got the last 2 variants I needed. Shingles 2 and ronin 2. I now have every single variant in the game aside from the ones that no one has
So if the Kar98K is a 1 hit kill waist up, how come sharpshooter magically increases damage and can get a kill on the thighs too. There's been some moments where I'm full health and someone shoots me in the lower waist with the Kar and it kills me. I've even noticed a damage changes myself when using the sharpshooter and without it too.
Honestly, although I love sniping/quichscoping in this game, I hate how different sniper have different scope sensitivity. The kar, Springfield and Karabin have a faster in scope sense then the Lee Enfield and Type 38. It makes it difficult to switch between them from game to to game. The same with them giving aim assist to some snipers and not to others. Just make them all the same, so that it's consistent feeling.
The snipers dont need more nerfs! Honestly you have to be a good player to do well with them... While the PPSH, Volk, MP40, BAR ect are all super easy to use. I dont understand why people want to cripple snipers so bad :/
Karabin is the best sniper rifle in the game. Put 4x scope, rapid fire, extended mags and ballistic sights and it is a beast. You can treat it like a rifle. On shipment it is a machine. Able to easily finish the sniper headshot challenges.
Robert1811 yeah this pissed me off in 1944. Dude was 80+ plus kills just murdering everything that ran any which way. I was getting one shotted with this and it was NOT head shots in core. So i was a little suspect about this particular game but feel like i need to have a karabin setup on standby for this specific situation when there are a couple of people running this on the other team. It makes it really hard to run anything else as I like to run and gun smgs and shotguns and i just could not this game
The kar98 feels so funky with irons I don't think they should mess with the damage multipliers when using one. That's just me anyway. I loved iron sights in WAW even the ballista in bo2 but I can't do anything with the Kar irons in this game.
i made a sniper class pretty similar to your example with the type 38 only i switch out mountain and lookout with resistance and undercover. i feel like the perks that come with resistance are much more useful than those than are paired up with mountain

My biggest sniper “snipe” is that it’s like a long range shotgun. I see plenty of misses scoring a kill. Not fair. Quick sniping is too powerful. At least make it a kill only if it’s a hit not a near miss.
anthony la tempa if you're referring to killcams it's already a wide known fact that killcams and gold star cams are extremely inaccurate of how it went down in real time. Snipers in this game have to be pretty accurate to get the shot off and hit bit it's nothing that can't be learned with practice

The only nerf I can see that would be reasonable for the type 38, is maybe drop the standard magazine size from 10 to 8, to balance out the faster ads. However I think it is fine as it is.

Oh boy...the 38 needs no nerf!! The faster ads and fewer rounds than the enfield balance out and makes it feel different enough without making it 'op' lol i really feel that phrase is thrown around too freely these days. If the arisaka's ads is slowed down then it would be another pointless weapon outclassed by others
Is Scoped worth it on snipers now that it reduces sway on them? Be nice to see some comparison vids of snipers with/without ballistic calibration and with/without Scoped and see how well they stack or if one is clearly better than the other or they're the same.

Snipers are already fine as they are mate. No one wants a cancerous quickscoper fest. Wait where you think enemies will be appearing, take aim, and when an enemy appears, instakill. Simple as that. Quickscoping should never be promoted. If Snipers should be viable up close, why can't I use shotguns at long range?
To bad people don't use the sniper's to actually snipe they just use them as shotguns/SMG in close range battle beyond OP. I can't believe they secretly buffed the ADS to bring them back to what they used to be at launch it's bullshit.
At this point sledgehammer just keeps buffing the lmg's and is nerfing the snipers into the ground. So many people stopped sniping already because they can't compete and more and more people are just headglitching with a lmg.
Damien Coonan What nerfs they all just got buffed the ADS is the same as when the game started when they were completely broken the only chance you have against snipers are if they miss there shot they control the gun fight not you which equals BROKEN.
The only sniper to receive a buff was the Enfield. At the start the Springfield and kar were op but both have 2 or 3 nerfs and up close a shotgun will win because they don't need to ads for accuracy

They’re all like Specialists. Instakill, unlimited range and they shoot through any surface. Lethal at any range and deadly when it comes to shrinking the player base!

You can tell his bias for the type 38. Even tho the fire rate of it is 1 bullet per minute higher, he dons it as "the clear winner" but on reload add time, where the einfeld is faster by 0.05 seconds (50 milliseconds, the same difference he praised the type 38 for on ads) he says they are all effectively the same.
ADS is FAR more important that reload time on sniper rifles... A 50ms reload discrepancy isn't going to change the outcome of gunfights, a 50ms ADS discrepancy absolutely does with Sniper Rifles.

Using the scoped basic training reduces the sway. If you combine this with ballistic calibration you get very little sway

The Karabin is just a more powerful version of the M1 Garand. I used to use the Iron Sight on it.

I love the type 38. Pulled the heroic Ronin the first day it was released. Karabin is fun with infantry and armored divisions.

I play almost only hardcore, and prefer the Karabin with Infantry for the idle sway reduction.
I think you should test the Springfield but the Faithful/ Faithful II the aim down sight time seems quite a bit faster than the base rifle.

Oh boy...the 38 needs no nerf!! The faster ads and fewer rounds than the enfield balance out and makes it feel different enough without making it 'op' lol i really feel that phrase is thrown around too freely these days. If the arisaka's ads is slowed down then it would be another pointless weapon outclassed by others
I suck at quivk scoping, so i use lee enfield, and try to go for hard scope precision shots to the head.
Is Scoped worth it on snipers now that it reduces sway on them? Be nice to see some comparison vids of snipers with/without ballistic calibration and with/without Scoped and see how well they stack or if one is clearly better than the other or they're the same.

QuickShot ive been sniping since mw2 and this game isnt even close to as easy as bo2.. It's better now after they added aim assist back to make it fair

Snipers are already fine as they are mate. No one wants a cancerous quickscoper fest. Wait where you think enemies will be appearing, take aim, and when an enemy appears, instakill. Simple as that. Quickscoping should never be promoted. If Snipers should be viable up close, why can't I use shotguns at long range?

To bad people don't use the sniper's to actually snipe they just use them as shotguns/SMG in close range battle beyond OP. I can't believe they secretly buffed the ADS to bring them back to what they used to be at launch it's bullshit.

At this point sledgehammer just keeps buffing the lmg's and is nerfing the snipers into the ground. So many people stopped sniping already because they can't compete and more and more people are just headglitching with a lmg.

Damien Coonan What nerfs they all just got buffed the ADS is the same as when the game started when they were completely broken the only chance you have against snipers are if they miss there shot they control the gun fight not you which equals BROKEN.

The only sniper to receive a buff was the Enfield. At the start the Springfield and kar were op but both have 2 or 3 nerfs and up close a shotgun will win because they don't need to ads for accuracy

The type 38 variant I have, has a horrible scope. Are they all that bad? Maybe that was a balance decision.
According to the website Call of Duty wiki . . . . "Ballistics CPU in previous games as it reduces the idle sway when aiming with a sniper rifle. It does not affect rifles equipped with the 4x Optic or the Iron Sights attachments". . . . Is this correct?

They’re all like Specialists. Instakill, unlimited range and they shoot through any surface. Lethal at any range and deadly when it comes to shrinking the player base!

You can tell his bias for the type 38. Even tho the fire rate of it is 1 bullet per minute higher, he dons it as "the clear winner" but on reload add time, where the einfeld is faster by 0.05 seconds (50 milliseconds, the same difference he praised the type 38 for on ads) he says they are all effectively the same.
ADS is FAR more important that reload time on sniper rifles... A 50ms reload discrepancy isn't going to change the outcome of gunfights, a 50ms ADS discrepancy absolutely does with Sniper Rifles.
