I think we need to give Brandon Lee his flowers as an ACTOR not just Bruce Lee's son and that he died on the set. He was a special skilled actor and he had a promising career had he not die. RIP, Going to watch it

I feel like if they had a different title like ‘The Crow: [Insert Subtitle Here]’ it might’ve worked as its own thing. But, considering that they’re so adamant that it’s Eric Draven’s story makes it a little worse. I will say the trailer did a better job representing the movie than the first promotional image.

Yeah I felt this way when they tried to make another Batman movie in 1989 when we already had a Batman movie in 1967 with the one and only Adam West. There should only ever be one adaptation of a comic book character. When I saw that stupid rubber suit on Keaton I was like OMG what the fk is that?!! And not only that but they didn’t even do a version where Dick Grayson took over the role of Batman, they actually did it as Bruce Wayne.
They did that with all the previous sequels. Those were pretty terrible. The TV Show wasn't too bad, but still that would be a better idea than trying to do Eric Draven again with an actor that wears makeup more reminiscent of Pennywise than The Crow. It's all we can see and it's a huge distraction. Yes they should have maybe got the original comic writer on board, made a new modern revenant, and came up with something strong in writing. But no.. they are too ridiculously lazy
The original Crow (1994) had a really gritty look to it, and while this Remake has ultra violence, it kind of screams more John Wick than The Crow. Part of the Crow is that he’s literally supposed to be undead. Instead this just comes across as a dude with powers that he can’t die like Wolverine.
So to be undead you need to paint your face white? Because that the only difference I see. Forget the fact that he obviously bleeds black from what we saw in the trailer. White face paint is the qualifier for undead.
To me, The Crow with Brandon Lee (for a 1994 film) is an atmospheric masterpiece with eerily beautiful New Wave elements. Brandon Lee as Eric Draven (Eric the Raven) conveys a lot of emotions in the role, all in a very beautiful and interesting look. Brandon is charismatic as well as in top acting form. The film world resembles a music video by The Cure, dark, melancholic, with interesting camera perspectives. I have been hoping for a high-quality remake the whole time, but I realize that the first images of the new version rather disappoint me. Bill doesn't look as intense as Brandon. Watching the trailer, I feel no emotions. Writing these words, I now realize that the original 1994 movie should have been left as a classic masterpiece without a remake, thus leaving Brandon's farewell and legacy to rest in dignity. The original is simply original.
The original had a mystique to it and to Eric Draven. It really felt like he was something different when he became resurrected. Not sure if we’ll get that feeling from this movie. From the trailer, it doesn’t look like it, but I’m cautiously optimistic.

Seems like anything "ambiguous" or "mystical" is overexplained to today's audiences. Idk why it's like that now. One of the things that draws me to horror is what MY imagination fills in to make it scary. I have strong feeling all the mystery and romanticism will be explained out of the movie ad nauseum.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole being transported to a different world perspective. The original transports you to a city that has its own character, a dirty, dark, and dangerous place where a handful of good people are trying to survive the violence and the hopelessness. It's reminiscent of Dark City, Blade Runner or Seven, where the city itself is an oppressive presence throughout the film. By contrast this remake looks more like a John Wick or Nolan's Batman kind of setting, and to me that means we're not being immersed in the world of The Crow.
As a point of reference, The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. For 30 years, I've listened to the soundtrack, worn the tshirts, read and re read the graphic novel, and shared my vhs, dvd and soon to be 4K with anyone willing to give it a try! It's very safe to say, from the trailer, this movie ain't that movie at all. Like Man of Steel contrasts Superman the Movie, this is it's own thing with a character I've been invested in for decades. It doesn't tarnished the originals legacy, because the loss of Brandon Lee elevates the stories core message that Nothing is Trivial. Live life to it's fullest because tomorrow is not promised. This movie feels shallow. I'll still see it regardless. Take care Lee
The Crow is also my favorite movie, I've never been a fan of the idea of remaking it. But yknow what I get what you're saying. I enjoy Man of Steel and Donners Superman even though they are wildly different interpretations. Also, I've met James O'Barr at comic cons and discussed the remake, he seemed OK with it. In fact he's keen on different takes on the Crow. So if he's OK with it.

The first lines of the trailer straight up tell you that they do not understand the core basis of the Crow storyline. Eric wasn’t “brilliantly broken”, he and Shelly weren’t messed up in any way. They were both good, kind people, the type of people a girl like Sarah could feel safe around. Eric was a musician, and poetic, as can be understood through his dialogue. He was a gentle person, the contrast in who Eric was, to the lengths he goes is what highlights the torment he is experiencing. This movie trades beauty for shallow cringe edge, and post modern neo-emo whinging for eloquence.
Yeah, it is feeling like they took an action script, threw in The Crow like makeup, a few shots of crows and a line from The Crow, and pieced it together from that. Could be a good way to go, or could turn out like when they try to do that with Hellraiser. Guess we shall see. In any event, thank you, Lee.

I see what the direction is going for but, this film doesn't feel like a Crow movie in some ways, but I gotta admit the rendition of Take what you Want by Post Malone sounds kinda cool and kinda fits this movies vibes (as a action thriller not a Crow film). You're on point with that world building set. I always tell my friends maybe our future cities will be like in The Crow. Riots, fires, devil's night lol. People running around almost like it's The Purge. This one looked like your typical city.
This looks like the Thomas Jane Punisher and Nick Cage's ghost rider had a baby named Crows Malone aka Lil Crow. It seems incredibly well lit not at all dark like the original crow. And they managed to make him look more alive after he came back then when he was alive.
If this movie was called let's say deaths resurrection. And swapped what little bit of the crow mythology they left in this movie whith say a grim reaper type brought him back. This movie might be a decent watch. But since they are calling it the crow and they're using the Eric draven story. This is going to be nails on the chalkboard for me to watch. Going love the pitch meeting video for this movie. Yeah let's make a crow remake , And tell Eric dravens story. Buuuuut. Let's make Eric draven look like a worse version of suicide squad joker. And let's have Eric and Shelly be drug addicts. In the original Eric draven was anti drugs. Hell even helped Darla get clean. And let's remove all the gothic elements. The gothic setting and elements were a character all of their own. And let's take all of the hard rock , Grunge and goth music out. This definitely feels like a supernatural version of John Wick. That would possibly make for a somewhat decent film if it weren't tied to The Crow franchise. But this definitely doesn't feel anything like a Crow film. This is often what happens when a series spends years in developmental hell. It goes through various rewrites, directors, actors and in many cases, studios. The end result is often a mess of a film that was rushed just so they can say they finally completed it.

This looks perfectly suited for a 'stream and forget' debut. The Crow was a comic, yes. I keep hearing people point that out. I get it, other interpretations can be done. But this is Eric Draven. They made a big mistake by doing that. They could have done something more original with the idea and had it be a completely different character. But they went the generic Hollywood route. This will fall on its face. Brandon Lee is the heart and soul of the The Crow.

When the Crow came out it was in the period when art and film and music came together like a fine wine. This might be a good movie but it cannot capture the essence of what the original one was. I would like to be proven wrong.

If this did not have the Eric and Shelly story attached to it and was a Crow movie with different characters it would not be getting the backlash it is. The trailer is cool. Bill Skarsgård is a great actor and this may work as an action revenge movie if it was called something else. It does not feel like a Crow movie. They could dub over the Eric and Shelly names with Mike and Julie and I would not even know that it was retelling the original story. That is how different it looks. The Original was a gothic masterpiece that mystique resonated with many people. The Original holds a deep attachment a lot for the fans, especially the ones who were in there mid or early teen's when it was released in theaters. The tragedy that surrounded it from Brandon Lee's death just added to the significance. It shows what might have been a amazing career for Brandon if he had lived. To many, the story and the Eric Draven character are memorials to Brandon Lee and should be treated as such. Using the Eric Draven in this movie disrespects it. There are 7 The Crow comic series, all with different main characters and storied. Why use Eric when you have other protagonists to use. Personally I would like to see a female protagonist. That was done in The Crow: Flesh & Blood series with Iris Shaw, who was killed while she was pregnant and came back to avenge herself and unborn child. With other options available, there was no reason to retell Eric and Shelly's story. Unfortunately instead, they tried to bank on nostalgia and name recognition which has only served to piss people off. R.I.P Brandon Lee

It seems like a crow movie to me. The only thing It has in common with the original is the characters names of Eric and Shelley to this point. We still don't know if that's TinTin and his crew and the guy that seems to be in charge is completely different. It won't take the place of the original but I'll give it a watch and probably set in in line between 2 and 4 in the movie series. After the 3rd they just got really stupid like they were making a joke of the franchise.

I’m excited for this. They are not trying to replicate the original. The look of Bill overall is not the best, but the visuals and action look great. Nothing will ever take away from the original or Brandon. If it sucks it will disappear into oblivion like the sequels that came before no one talks about.
the design of Eric has grown on me quite a bit but at the same time what we see in the trailer it doesn’t capture the gritty nature of devils night the down right disgusting environment, it just looks way too clean more as like a spy film than a gritty revenge film
I agree with you. It also feels like to me they put face tats and things like that to try and make him look more gothic. So it's the 2024 version of the crow since face tats were not a thing then. I'll probably stream it, but doubt I'll spend the money to goto theater for it

They should have made another crow story, like another individual that a crow visits for a chance for redemption. We already had Eric Draven's story. There is a lot of crow movies who is not Draven, they should have explored the lore more and not remaking the OG movie.

I’m not really a Crow source material fan, nor do I love the 1994 movie like a lot of people but I liked this trailer. I think for me I like revenge stories so throw in violence turned up to 11 and I’m on board.

A lot of films I didn’t as a kid/teen when I rewatch so I’ll probably rewatch the OG soon. But yeah for me not knowing much about the character other than what I remember from that first film this trailer worked quite well for me.
Im glad this tries to be its own thing in the sense that if it tried to recreate the first it wouldn't stand a chance. You can't get lightning to strike twice. The original crow will always hit the way it did for those who grew up with it. There is an element involving the social culture of the 90s an ambiance that only those who were there can truly feel. It can't be replicated. So with this modern remake i feel it has a chance to be good just by being its own thing.
I have a ton of shit to say about this dude. I am a HUGE fan of the Crow franchise from the movies to the graphic novel, The Crow and The Crow City of Angels are 2 of the movies I always go back to, especially the original Crow because the movie is very special, the theme, the color, the cinematography and sadly the tragic accident that happened on set resulting in Brandon Lee's death. When I saw the image of Bill Skarsgard in his "Eric Draven look" it just rubbed me the wrong way. It's weird cus during the pre prod they said they wanted to make a faithful adaptation to the Crow graphic novel but they made Eric look like a fucking DmC Dante Leto Joker sound cloud rapper and for some reason people are saying "oh it's cus they want a faithful adaptation" but lemme tell you something, that's definitely not what Eric Draven looked like in the book. He's suppose to look like Iggy Pop with face paint on, very muscular (which they got right I'll give them that), a mullet, no tattoos and the black paint. Another thing to point out that the first 2 Crow movies had a distinct style to them and you can immediately tell what movie it is. This movie just looks like every action movie out today, which is just so wrong cus The Crow is suppose to stand out and be memorable, this movie kinda feels misguided in a way. Even James O Barr (The maker of The Crow Graphic novel) says that it's really unecessary to make a reboot. He's absolutely right because at least for the sequels, it was different people becoming the Crow and not a reimagining of Eric Draven because that's Brandon Lee's character. If this movie just told a different story about another guy turning into the Crow then it would've been a lot better and more respectful to Brandon's legacy.

I have some hopes for this. I do like that it isn't really a shot for shot remake of the original movie and it's just a modern re-adaptation of the graphic novel. Which I hope it's just that. In which they did say last year that it's going to be a "Modern retelling" which at first had me worried but cut to now I get the better idea of it. I do like it does seem more brutal and the character that says the iconic line from the original I wonder if he's going to be a Skull Cowboy type of character or it could be a human version of him IDK but I would like to see the Skull Cowboy though.
The action looks good but too close to John wick. The tattoos are a bit odd but it could work. I love the nods to the graphic novel and how it’s not a carbon copy of the 94 film. I just wish they didn’t use Eric Draven. Brandon lee should be the only to portray the character. Mostly due to how Eric Draven is tied to the passing of the actor who portrayed the iconic character. They should’ve created a new character. Bill is an amazing actor so it might work. I’ll definitely see the movie. I hope they do a respectful job of making the movie.
The Crow remake was intentionally remade for a modern audience with a different vision. So realistically it could be a good movie that stands on its own including the different vision even with reusing the same story as the iconic masterpiece The Crow movie.
The original film had this lightning in a bottle feel to it, and everything from the aesthetic, the tone, the music, and performances lended itself to the time period. It’s got this hauntingly goth fairytale vibe to it that just can’t be replicated. Here, there’s no sense of style really, or a purpose for it to actually exist. I know I’m saying I’ll pass on this, but… I dunno, having seen the trailer it at least looks interesting.
I'm not gonna completely write this movie off. But i am pretty optimistic bout this. I do not care for his look at all. He looks like the joker or a SoundCloud rapper lol but his aesthetic is insane he's shredded. Im gonna give this movie the benefit of a doubt and still go see it. I was definitely expecting worse even from the trailer, maybe they gave way too much in this trailer ?? I feel they might’ve just spoiled the possible best parts of the movie. It doesn’t look that bad overall just the design of the crow himself. It definitely looks pretty brutal and action packed but again maybe they gave too much in the trailer? Let’s just wait for this movie to come out and hope it’s gonna be at least decent or watchable not the abomination some of us are expecting. I am partially optimistic about this. We shall see.

It's not just because of Brandon. To many of us angsty teenagers in the 90's, The Crow embodied our emotions. It was dark, gritty, yet tender and against some pretty bleak odds the message was hopeful. It was also unique, there was nothing like it, and there hasn't been since. It's our little gem, a perfect crystallization of what it meant to be a broody teen back then.
I'll definitely give it a watch. Im thinking it might not be the best Crow movie, but it should make for an entertaining enough action thriller movie 👍

Has anyone read the original graphic novel by James O'Barr? Didn't think so. The core of this film is a lot like the graphic novel. Big fan of the original ever since it came out in the theaters (I'm that old), but this is a great version....gothic, dark, gritty,love, revenge....it's all there
Read it more than once, this film seems further removed from the graphic novel, which isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as it retains the core themes and essence of it. But the things it looks to have kept from prior versions (aside from the character names) seem to be more of the 1994 film than the graphic novel (namely Eric being a guitarist instead of a mechanic and Shelly and Eric dying because one of them provoked the antagonists in some way, rather than having their car brake down on the wrong roadside at the wrong time.)

I was hoping this trailer would surprise me. But I haven’t changed my opinion on it. I’m hating the look of this film. Looks like there is some good action pieces but the original crow was so much more than that. This hasn’t captured any feeling of the original crow in anyway. To me it looks like it’s style over substance. And I definitely agree that Bill doesn’t have the same screen presence, he’s a great actor but he’s not a match for Brandon Lee in this role. Well from what we have seen in the trailer anyways and it does appear to be the whole film. I wish they were just making him a new character instead of Eric Draven. Then we all might be a little more positive on this, but it’s hard not to compare when they are keeping that character.

Well, if they do female character as The Crow, it would be much new side of a story because so far, in 4 four films of The Crow, and don't forget we also have The Crow Series which Mark Dacascos who played the role, it always been a male actor to play role. Anyway, i can dig this remake and see how far it would take me to such an experience.
I remember loving the original Crow and thankfully own the Blu Ray so I can give it another watch(it’s been many years). At the very least, I am hoping for some great action but will not expect it to be as good as the original; maybe this will surprise us all will how good it is!

The film world resembles a music video by The Cure, dark, melancholic, with interesting camera perspectives. I have been hoping for a high-quality remake the whole time, but I realize that the first images of the new version rather disappoint me. Bill doesn't look as intense as Brandon. Watching the trailer, I feel no emotions. Writing these words, I now realize that the original 1994 movie should have been left as a classic masterpiece without a remake, thus leaving Brandon's farewell and legacy to rest in dignity. The original is simply original.
The original had a mystique to it and to Eric Draven. It really felt like he was something different when he became resurrected. Not sure if we’ll get that feeling from this movie. From the trailer, it doesn’t look like it, but I’m cautiously optimistic.

Seems like anything "ambiguous" or "mystical" is overexplained to today's audiences. Idk why it's like that now. One of the things that draws me to horror is what MY imagination fills in to make it scary. I have strong feeling all the mystery and romanticism will be explained out of the movie ad nauseum.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole being transported to a different world perspective. The original transports you to a city that has its own character, a dirty, dark, and dangerous place where a handful of good people are trying to survive the violence and the hopelessness. It's reminiscent of Dark City, Blade Runner or Seven, where the city itself is an oppressive presence throughout the film. By contrast this remake looks more like a John Wick or Nolan's Batman kind of setting, and to me that means we're not being immersed in the world of The Crow.

As a point of reference, The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. For 30 years, I've listened to the soundtrack, worn the tshirts, read and re read the graphic novel, and shared my vhs, dvd and soon to be 4K with anyone willing to give it a try!
It's very safe to say, from the trailer, this movie ain't that movie at all. Like Man of Steel contrasts Superman the Movie, this is it's own thing with a character I've been invested in for decades. It doesn't tarnished the originals legacy, because the loss of Brandon Lee elevates the stories core message that Nothing is Trivial. Live life to it's fullest because tomorrow is not promised.

The Crow is also my favorite movie, I've never been a fan of the idea of remaking it. But yknow what I get what you're saying. I enjoy Man of Steel and Donners Superman even though they are wildly different interpretations.
Also, I've met James O'Barr at comic cons and discussed the remake, he seemed OK with it. In fact he's keen on different takes on the Crow. So if he's OK with it.
@@SuckerKrunch The thing is for DC and Marvel movies I accept different interpretations more because it's established that they have a multiverse with different versions of the heroes BUT, for The Crow it's just its own thing, the sequels did a good thing by having different people become the Crow and not just reimagine Eric Draven's movie. This movie feels so misguided, I'll still watch it regardless too cus I am still a HUGE Crow fan but my expectations are so damn low.
The first lines of the trailer straight up tell you that they do not understand the core basis of the Crow storyline. Eric wasn’t “brilliantly broken”, he and Shelly weren’t messed up in any way. They were both good, kind people, the type of people a girl like Sarah could feel safe around.
Eric was a musician, and poetic, as can be understood through his dialogue. He was a gentle person, the contrast in who Eric was, to the lengths he goes is what highlights the torment he is experiencing.
This movie trades beauty for shallow cringe edge, and post modern neo-emo whinging for eloquence.
People will forget about this movie by next year, the original will never be forgotten 👍😎
Yeah, it is feeling like they took an action script, threw in The Crow like makeup, a few shots of crows and a line from The Crow, and pieced it together from that. Could be a good way to go, or could turn out like when they try to do that with Hellraiser. Guess we shall see. In any event, thank you, Lee.

I agree with your take on this trailer 100%. It looks interesting though. I see what the direction is going for but, this film doesn't feel like a Crow movie in some ways, but I gotta admit the rendition of Take what you Want by Post Malone sounds kinda cool and kinda fits this movies vibes (as a action thriller not a Crow film). I hope this film finds an audience and does well but it will never beat the original R.I.P. Brandon Lee

You're on point with that world building set. I always tell my friends maybe our future cities will be like in The Crow. Riots, fires, devil's night lol. People running around almost like it's The Purge. This one looked like your typical city.
The one good thing about this remake is it will turn more people onto checking out the original movie. We might even get a new Remaster!
This looks like the Thomas Jane Punisher and Nick Cage's ghost rider had a baby named Crows Malone aka Lil Crow. It seems incredibly well lit not at all dark like the original crow. And they managed to make him look more alive after he came back then when he was alive.
If this movie was called let's say deaths resurrection. And swapped what little bit of the crow mythology they left in this movie whith say a grim reaper type brought him back. This movie might be a decent watch. But since they are calling it the crow and they're using the Eric draven story. This is going to be nails on the chalkboard for me to watch. Going love the pitch meeting video for this movie. Yeah let's make a crow remake , And tell Eric dravens story. Buuuuut. Let's make Eric draven look like a worse version of suicide squad joker. And let's have Eric and Shelly be drug addicts. In the original Eric draven was anti drugs. Hell even helped Darla get clean. And let's remove all the gothic elements. The gothic setting and elements were a character all of their own. And let's take all of the hard rock , Grunge and goth music out. And put in some auto tune remixes. 🤦 This is a crow movie only in name.

This definitely feels like a supernatural version of John Wick. That would possibly make for a somewhat decent film if it weren't tied to The Crow franchise. But this definitely doesn't feel anything like a Crow film. This is often what happens when a series spends years in developmental hell. It goes through various rewrites, directors, actors and in many cases, studios. The end result is often a mess of a film that was rushed just so they can say they finally completed it.

This looks perfectly suited for a 'stream and forget' debut. The Crow was a comic, yes. I keep hearing people point that out. I get it, other interpretations can be done. But this is Eric Draven. They made a big mistake by doing that. They could have done something more original with the idea and had it be a completely different character. But they went the generic Hollywood route. This will fall on its face. Brandon Lee is the heart and soul of the The Crow.

If this did not have the Eric and Shelly story attached to it and was a Crow movie with different characters it would not be getting the backlash it is. The trailer is cool. Bill Skarsgård is a great actor and this may work as an action revenge movie if it was called something else. It does not feel like a Crow movie. They could dub over the Eric and Shelly names with Mike and Julie and I would not even know that it was retelling the original story. That is how different it looks. The Original was a gothic masterpiece that mystique resonated with many people.
The Original holds a deep attachment a lot for the fans, especially the ones who were in there mid or early teen's when it was released in theaters. The tragedy that surrounded it from Brandon Lee's death just added to the significance. It shows what might have been a amazing career for Brandon if he had lived. To many, the story and the Eric Draven character are memorials to Brandon Lee and should be treated as such. Using the Eric Draven in this movie disrespects it.
There are 7 The Crow comic series, all with different main characters and storied. Why use Eric when you have other protagonists to use. Personally I would like to see a female protagonist. That was done in The Crow: Flesh & Blood series with Iris Shaw, who was killed while she was pregnant and came back to avenge herself and unborn child. With other options available, there was no reason to retell Eric and Shelly's story. Unfortunately instead, they tried to bank on nostalgia and name recognition which has only served to piss people off.

It seems like a crow movie to me. The only thing It has in common with the original is the characters names of Eric and Shelley to this point. We still don't know if that's TinTin and his crew and the guy that seems to be in charge is completely different. It won't take the place of the original but I'll give it a watch and probably set in in line between 2 and 4 in the movie series. After the 3rd they just got really stupid like they were making a joke of the franchise.

I’m excited for this. They are not trying to replicate the original. The look of Bill overall is not the best, but the visuals and action look great. Nothing will ever take away from the original or Brandon. If it sucks it will disappear into oblivion like the sequels that came before no one talks about.

the design of Eric has grown on me quite a bit but at the same time what we see in the trailer it doesn’t capture the gritty nature of devils night the down right disgusting environment, it just looks way too clean more as like a spy film than a gritty revenge film
I agree with you. It also feels like to me they put face tats and things like that to try and make him look more gothic. So it's the 2024 version of the crow since face tats were not a thing then. I'll probably stream it, but doubt I'll spend the money to goto theater for it

They should have made another crow story, like another individual that a crow visits for a chance for redemption. We already had Eric Draven's story. There is a lot of crow movies who is not Draven, they should have explored the lore more and not remaking the OG movie.

I’m not really a Crow source material fan, nor do I love the 1994 movie like a lot of people but I liked this trailer. I think for me I like revenge stories so throw in violence turned up to 11 and I’m on board.

A lot of films I didn’t as a kid/teen when I rewatch so I’ll probably rewatch the OG soon. Im glad this tries to be its own thing in the sense that if it tried to recreate the first it wouldn't stand a chance. You can't get lightning to strike twice. The original crow will always hit the way it did for those who grew up with it. There is an element involving the social culture of the 90s an ambiance that only those who were there can truly feel. It can't be replicated. So with this modern remake i feel it has a chance to be good just by being its own thing.
I have a ton of shit to say about this dude. I am a HUGE fan of the Crow franchise from the movies to the graphic novel, The Crow and The Crow City of Angels are 2 of the movies I always go back to, especially the original Crow because the movie is very special, the theme, the color, the cinematography and sadly the tragic accident that happened on set resulting in Brandon Lee's death. When I saw the image of Bill Skarsgard in his "Eric Draven look" it just rubbed me the wrong way. It's weird cus during the pre prod they said they wanted to make a faithful adaptation to the Crow graphic novel but they made Eric look like a fucking DmC Dante Leto Joker sound cloud rapper and for some reason people are saying "oh it's cus they want a faithful adaptation" but lemme tell you something, that's definitely not what Eric Draven looked like in the book. He's suppose to look like Iggy Pop with face paint on, very muscular (which they got right I'll give them that), a mullet, no tattoos and the black paint. Another thing to point out that the first 2 Crow movies had a distinct style to them and you can immediately tell what movie it is. This movie just looks like every action movie out today, which is just so wrong cus The Crow is suppose to stand out and be memorable, this movie kinda feels misguided in a way. Even James O Barr (The maker of The Crow Graphic novel) says that it's really unecessary to make a reboot. He's absolutely right because at least for the sequels, it was different people becoming the Crow and not a reimagining of Eric Draven because that's Brandon Lee's character. If this movie just told a different story about another guy turning into the Crow then it would've been a lot better and more respectful to Brandon's legacy.

I have some hopes for this. I do like that it isn't really a shot for shot remake of the original movie and it's just a modern re-adaptation of the graphic novel. Which I hope it's just that. In which they did say last year that it's going to be a "Modern retelling" which at first had me worried but cut to now I get the better idea of it.
I do like it does seem more brutal and the character that says the iconic line from the original I wonder if he's going to be a Skull Cowboy type of character or it could be a human version of him IDK but I would like to see the Skull Cowboy though.

The action looks good but too close to John wick. The tattoos are a bit odd but it could work. I love the nods to the graphic novel and how it’s not a carbon copy of the 94 film. I just wish they didn’t use Eric Draven. Brandon lee should be the only to portray the character. Mostly due to how Eric Draven is tied to the passing of the actor who portrayed the iconic character. They should’ve created a new character. Bill is an amazing actor so it might work. I’ll definitely see the movie. I hope they do a respectful job of making the movie.
The Crow remake was intentionally remade for a modern audience with a different vision.
So realistically it could be a good movie that stands on its own including the different vision even with reusing the same story as the iconic masterpiece The Crow movie.

The original film had this lightning in a bottle feel to it, and everything from the aesthetic, the tone, the music, and performances lended itself to the time period. It’s got this hauntingly goth fairytale vibe to it that just can’t be replicated.
Here, there’s no sense of style really, or a purpose for it to actually exist. I know I’m saying I’ll pass on this, but… I dunno, having seen the trailer it at least looks interesting.

I think it could’ve been worse. I hope it’s gonna be fun. It might be the 2nd best just behind the original who knows??? I am kinda mixed on this. I was definitely expecting worse even from the trailer, maybe they gave way too much in this trailer ?? I feel they might’ve just spoiled the possible best parts of the movie. It doesn’t look that bad overall just the design of the crow himself. It definitely looks pretty brutal and action packed but again maybe they gave too much in the trailer? Let’s just wait for this movie to come out and hope it’s gonna be at least decent or watchable not the abomination some of us are expecting. I am partially optimistic about this. We shall see.
I feel like everyone is so protective of the Original because of Brandon and I totally understand that, but we are always asking for something to be different. I say let's give it a chance and be hopeful that maybe there is a twist they hid in that all-showing spoiler!!
It's not just because of Brandon. To many of us angsty teenagers in the 90's, The Crow embodied our emotions. It was dark, gritty, yet tender and against some pretty bleak odds the message was hopeful. It was also unique, there was nothing like it, and there hasn't been since. It's our little gem, a perfect crystallization of what it meant to be a broody teen back then.
I was very hesitant to watch this trailer. But after watching it, I'm interested to see how this plays out... Lets go.

Has anyone read the original graphic novel by James O'Barr? Didn't think so. The core of this film is a lot like the graphic novel. Big fan of the original ever since it came out in the theaters (I'm that old), but this is a great version....gothic, dark, gritty,love, revenge....it's all there
Read it more than once, this film seems further removed from the graphic novel, which isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as it retains the core themes and essence of it. But the things it looks to have kept from prior versions (aside from the character names) seem to be more of the 1994 film than the graphic novel (namely Eric being a guitarist instead of a mechanic and Shelly and Eric dying because one of them provoked the antagonists in some way, rather than having their car brake down on the wrong roadside at the wrong time.)

I was hoping this trailer would surprise me. But I haven’t changed my opinion on it. I’m hating the look of this film. Looks like there is some good action pieces but the original crow was so much more than that. This hasn’t captured any feeling of the original crow in anyway. And I definitely agree that Bill doesn’t have the same screen presence, he’s a great actor but he’s not a match for Brandon Lee in this role. Well from what we have seen in the trailer anyways and it does appear to be the whole film.
I wish they were just making him a new character instead of Eric Draven. Then we all might be a little more positive on this, but it’s hard not to compare when they are keeping that character.

Well, if they do female character as The Crow, it would be much new side of a story because so far, in 4 four films of The Crow, and don't forget we also have The Crow Series which Mark Dacascos who played the role, it always been a male actor to play role. Anyway, i can dig this remake and see how far it would take me to such an experience.
I remember loving the original Crow and thankfully own the Blu Ray so I can give it another watch(it’s been many years). At the very least, I am hoping for some great action but will not expect it to be as good as the original; maybe this will surprise us all will how good it is!

the first movie needed to be Rated R but they didn‘t and the brutality is a big part of the story
