From a first time mom, thank you so so much for the straight forward and thorough instruction, and steady pacing. Best video explanation I have seen so far.
Just wanted to say thanks for this video. I just had my first newborn and you'd be surprised what I'm looking up (even the most basic things because I'm a little nervous with her). Found this video useful as I was struggling with the seat last night.
I was the same. But that's a good thing. If I was too confident I would've been doing many things wrong with my first child. I searched and Googled several things. Now I'm a bit more confident with the knowledge I've acquired (and continue to acquire). Congrats on your baby :)
First time mom and traveling soon, thank you so much for this, I was so worried about having to install the base in a rental and carrying it everywhere thank you thank you!
This is excellent for new moms. I have to take my son with me places and I was so nerve racked about the car seat . But this was a great & easy explainable.
Thank you so much. I am a great grandmother and know very little about carseats. I thought that I had to order a base. You were so clear in your instructions.
the base does make it easier to install correctly, if you are going to be using the carseat alot i would recommend just getting the base and making your life easier... if its a once in a blue moon thing then this will certainly do the trick
people get a life... she has spend so much time trying to help people wanted to install a infant seat without a base. any way Ms Thank you very much...... with the help of your instruction i have installed the seat and its way to tight then the base,.....
When i installed my little sisters carseat its was way to tight also.My parents went on a 5 hour vacation and they had the base and i thought: Wow, just wow,Im never using this method again in my life!
Yes! My own seat (britax B-safe) is mich easier to install and having to install my niece's seat (chicco keyfit) I felt so incompetent because it didn't feel secure
Thank you so much for this video (and all your others too). I was in a bind and had to take baby into a different car and was able to get car seat in fast and knew I could count on a video from you to help me!
Omg thank you 😭💕 I can actually follow your video! I have to figure out how to do this by tomorrow and I was so intimidated. All the other videos I saw didn’t really explain much and glossed over the whole thing about locking the seatbelt! Which is pretty important, wtf! Omg thank you so much for such a thorough explanation throughout! I can’t say thank you enough!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕🤱❤
Thanks! This Grammy is getting ready to watch grandbaby and there isn't a spare car seat for me to keep in my car, so this was really helpful! Blessings! :)
I didnt know you could do this without a base. Thank you very much for the video. When I need to take a cab somewhere now, and i cant take the base or leave it in their, I will do this. I really appreciate the video as I was literally thinking would I have to carry around the base if I had to go run an errand as I dont drink myself.
Thank you so much! 🙂 i lost my Newborn daughter’s car seat base and this helped a lot! Now I don’t have to worry about my daughter getting hurt In her car seat. I will do these steps until i find her car seat base.
You can't stand in most vehicle backseats, for parents or grandparents thinking same, the rest is accurate and not that hard to do with a practice run. As a parent, aunt, and now grandma of 8, I've used about every style of car seat out there over the decades. You CAN safely travel without the base. They are a convenience more than anything. You got this, You can do it! 💪
Thank you for this, I'm a first time dad all this is new to me, never expected to be one and now i have a lot to catch up with. I have friend with advice and it so much for me, so i needed to look this up before my internet goes out,all the bills you now what I'm talking about, home doctors eta. keep up the great work with this even though this is a 2 year old it help me.
Thank you soo much! I way already doing everything correctly besides standing behind the car seat to get rid of the extra slack. I'm 5'5 and own a Honda Civic so idk if I'm going to be able to but I'll do my best lol Whatever it takes for my baby's safety! Thanks again this was a very informative video!
If you move the front seat up all the way, even a 6'2" adult can fit to do it in a civic. The key - in any vehicle - is to move the front seat up all the way.
I can be done from the side too but takes more experience I guess. Anyone who tells me otherwise doesn't know wtf they're doing. It's the mechanism not the yoga positions involved.
thank you for posting this.... I came to see how to do this in case im out with carseat stroller combo and hop a cab or something.... its been a long time since i did a no base install and i never actually did it right as i wasnt pressing it in a rocking to get it tight... you have actually taught me something very valuable for the once or twice i might do this with my infant and who knows this might be the info that save my little one :)
Very informative thank you for showing the steps on how to do this Stand in a car😅tall people would never be able to stand in a car even with moving the front seat forward.😅You definitely convinced me to get a base
Hello, thank you so much for your video! May I consult you a question? What front facing car seat will be the best for toddlers that can be easily setup in a taxi? Thanks.
Better to get a base. Cant think of doing this when you are already exhausted from taking care of the child and running late. But good video and its great info. Never know when it will come in handy
What about the space underneath between the infant seat and the car seat? How do you ensure the infant seat doesn't come loose when pushed from behind and downwards causing it to topple. When I tried to install the seat, it secured firmly but that space underneath needed to be packed with a towel rolled up.
I like the video but when i installed my baby sister's carseat with NO BASE in my car the carseat was way to tight in the car.I didnt use the base bc it was with my parents in there car and they were on vacation 5 hours away. This was a bit hard for me to get out of the car bc it was so tight and i will never EVER buckle a carseat without the base again.Thank you, for my speach!
Back when I was a little baby, I would stick my head out the open window while the dog had his head out the other window while we sped down the freeway. My Mom would chain smoke in the front seat and Dad....well I am not even sure if he was sober. My how times have changed!
Oh man, my twins are 10 months old and i just watched this.. they have been unsafe all this time… not sure why the the manufacturer does not have a proper video explaining how to safely install my Uppababy Mesa car seat.. i only realized this when on a tight turn one of the car seats fell to the side with my daughter in it… First i didnt know about the handle and then how to lock the belts..
Does anyone know a brand of universal car seat base compatible with this car seat? First time dad here. Any help will be appreciated. We purchased this car seat and realized later on it did not have a base.
How do I put an infant carseat in the car without the base or belt pathways. My joie i-level doesn’t have that and I don’t know how to wrap the seatbelt
Can we use ANY infant car seat without a base or should be only use an infant car seat that is specifically designed for "base-less" use such as Cybex Aton or the Nuna Pipa?
But my daughter is one now and her legs are SO squished with the car seat strapped like this! I need help and advice because I’m traveling in four days
Lol all these comments saying they’re convinced to get a base now because this seems hard 🤣 she is literary explaining everything in SUPER detail and giving you different methods to do it. You DEFINITELY do not have to be in the car like she was. It is soooo much easier once you get the hang of it , it’s not hard at all.
I have an evenflo car seat without the base. it has the two feet like things but I don't know how to install it in the car with out the base. How do I do it??
+Christina Hively Cars made after ~1997 almost always have locking belts. His likely locks at the latchplate. Not sure why TCSL did not address this in the video :/
I’m thinking of getting a car seat without a base. I’m Swedish, we have many laws and safety restrictions. Has anyone got any experience with an installation like this?
No, you NEED to read your car seat manual (!). Some require it to be in different positions than others (she states that at the end of the video too). In addition, most toys are hard and can hit the child in the face in an accident, so no, the handle CANNOT be left up just for that 'convenience' if the manufacturer doesn't allow it (for crash/safety reasons).
Here in canada we are not suppose to leave it up on the chicco keyfit 30, so no it should not be left up with toys dangling for the baby to look at/ play with defeats the purpose if you dont install correctly and follow the manufacturers instructions for your seat... and well im sure if we are watching this its to make sure we are installing safely (I came here to see how to do it without base correctly in case we are out and about with stroller and end up in a cab for some reason i wanted to make sure i could do it right (its been awhile since ive done a no base install lol).
If I just use the seat belt in the front their is no way it gets tight enough to not just lean forward when pulling up from the back have to use belt through front home and seat latches through rear hole or the car seat just tips up
Yeah, I think I’ll stick to the base bc I’ll be late for work doing this everyday lol and I’m too big or my car is too small for me to stand behind it like that lol
First person I've seen on TH-cam to clearly explain how to get the car seat nice and tight. Good job.

From a first time mom, thank you so so much for the straight forward and thorough instruction, and steady pacing. Best video explanation I have seen so far.

Best video to install this car seat! I purchased the Chicco 30 and had trouble until I watched this video. Great job and thanks!
Yes! My own seat (britax B-safe) is mich easier to install and having to install my niece's seat (chicco keyfit) I felt so incompetent because it didn't feel secure
Thanks, I didn't even know you could do this. Then I checked the manual again and verified all this info.
Thank you so much for this video (and all your others too). I was in a bind and had to take baby into a different car and was able to get car seat in fast and knew I could count on a video from you to help me!
Thank you! As a Grandma of twins, I need to be able to occasionally take them in my car without transferring the bases. This video was super helpful.
Omg thank you 😭💕 I can actually follow your video! I have to figure out how to do this by tomorrow and I was so intimidated. Thank you for such a quick but very informative video! This is just the information I needed!!
Great video! Thank you! Good to know that I can still have a life when my husband takes the car to work😊
You could also get a second base for the other car ;)

But just to make sure, it probably is recommended to use the base whenever possible?
Thank you so much! 🙂 i lost my Newborn daughter’s car seat base and this helped a lot! Now I don’t have to worry about my daughter getting hurt In her car seat. I will do these steps until i find her car seat base.

Thanks, didn't know the seatbelt had that feature. Gonna get one of those chairs soon.
Thank you!!! Really I had no idea, I thought it was so much easier... you convinced me to get a base😅
Your baby’s car seat didn’t come with a base???!
Why didn't your babies car seat come with a base?

Moms? What century are you from? So only moms can do this? Dads only job is to drive?

Shirley Bennett can the channel please answer this question
SOME seats allow for a towel but you need to check the manual as it can impede the seatbelt getting tight enough
Thank you!!
Thanks..!! Very helpful video. Good job.
Thank you 🙏 very helpful.
I like to also put the shoulder belt through the car-seat loop

Right. She should do this in a smaller vehicle too.

My car is from year 95 and the seatbelt is too short! Man :/ any advice? Will I have to get an isofix base?
God bless you, thanks so much for this
Please study more on Emmi Pikler (a pediatrician) and her assistant Magda Gerber and their thoughts on infant seats
Hannah Schaffer I’m familiar with Pikler.. but car seats are required for car rides 🤷🏻♀️
What does any of that have to do with children traveling safely in a vehicle?
Oh man, my twins are 10 months old and i just watched this.. they have been unsafe all this time… not sure why the the manufacturer does not have a proper video explaining how to safely install my Uppababy Mesa car seat.. i only realized this when on a tight turn one of the car seats fell to the side with my daughter in it…

Most carseats will come with a locking clip to be used in that situation. Please refer to your owner's manual or contact the carseat manufacturer.

I believe that it is supposed to be down. But most people leave it up if there are toys on it so the child is entertained.
No, you NEED to read your car seat manual (!). Some require it to be in different positions than others (she states that at the end of the video too).
