Here’s a tip for anyone who has to get out of the house for a while, and are dealing with an icy driveway, walkway, etc. If you put an old tattered pair of socks over your shoes, you won’t have to worry about falling and injuring yourself. I hope everyone has a wonderful day today 🌟

For real! I'm just glad I know how to walk on ice, but all it takes is one time. Had it bad where we are zero injuries.

Very painful, but it can all be solved by sprinkling normal table salt onto the ice on the ground, or spraying ethylene glycol (de-icer) if on planes or vehicles.

When 64 I fell on snow slope. The impact didn't seem like much but my head hurt ?? It never touched the ground ??? I've been very careful since.

I live in Canada. During winter, if I have the option between walking on a road, sidewalk or a paved alley that is iced, i'll walk into the unshoveled snow right next to it lol

A not so smart person?
Traction to best to worst:
1.) Snow boots
2.) Regular shoes (with metal traction / Like YakTrax)
3.) Regular shoes/boots/work shoes
4.) High heels - NO TRACTION
There's more traction action on snow than on ice. Sprinkling salt pellets on icy surface may work.

I'm from Russia, Vladivostok. This winter we had two freezing rains. We got to work like that. But then half of the city was without electricity and heating. And a lot of trees broke under the weight of ice

@ML SZ as an Australian I really felt for Texas during this. Ive never seen snow or ice and know I would surely die during a storm like this. Actually Australia would just call in sick to work and have a BBQ, we would make it work.

I won't go out without my "Yaks" on in snow and ice. They are the wires that go on the bottom of your shoes. They are lifesavers!

Back in the early and mid-90's before they would close schools, we had to walk blocks in ice. It was a nightmare. Walking in the middle of the street because there weren't any cars out back when we used to get blizzards.

@ML SZ how did you tell they were wrong? I went for an x-ray and then the lady pushed my knee inwards with her left arm and pulled on my foot outwards. And vice versa. And I felt no pain. But they told me I need to get an MRI and that I need surgery....so idk
I live in Fargo and I work outside year round and I gotta say I prefer -55 over 95 any day ,i cant take the heat !
I live in Omaha. I don't take heat well, either. You can dress for cold. There's a limit on how much you can take off when its hot.

Last year I did slide down to my hands and knees to crawl towards my SUV. I did lift myself from the back end of it. I was very careful last winter. So far this winter wasn’t as bad as last year. It had been pretty mild almost all winter. It was very cold in the beginning of the month and now is it warmer.
Spring is round the corner..
