First time my dad watched this, after this scene was over, he turned to my brother and asked "This is still about that dog right?"
Well it was actually about disrespecting him and his recently deceased wife but some people would think "it was just a dog".
Technically it's about what the dog represented.
The last gift from his dead wife.
I understand what the dog represents. I just love how perfectly it works with the story and the movies in general. In so many other action/revenge storylines the mob would have killed John Wick's wife/family prompting him for revenge. Here, they killed his dog. It works so perfectly for the story, adding that little bit of humor without any punchlines and mixing it up ever so slightly while still being a great revenge storyline.
I would do the same if someone killed my dog
@@johnrie18 I feel as though John was already about to tip over and go back into his old lifestyle. He only got out of it because of his wife and since she was gone there was nothing else holding him back. He tried to keep out of his old lifestyle but the dog was the embodiment of his wife, the dog was the last remaining thing of her and they took that away from him; the scale tipped and it was no longer about a physical thing such as the dog.
It was all that hate, sorrow, and anger that filled him after she died. It was revenge.
i like that when everything is going according to John’s plan, the light is a relaxing blue but when things get out of control it turns to red light reflecting on him

I see you watched other movie analysis on this and are trying to pass it off as your own original thought. It's not just in this movie. Blue lighting means Wick is in control, Red means he is in danger or not in control purple means a mix of both. It's in all three movies. Stop trying to seem smart by taking what people smarter than you have pointed out and parroting it in other videos.

That's on of my favorite part. When he just turns the gun to him like "yea I see you I dare you aim that gun at me" lmao
If you look closely at John Wick's face when he's up close with his second kill, you will see the apathetic killer side of this otherwise calm, gentle and empathetic person. He simply shows no emotion to his victim and keeps his eyes intact with the victim's as the victim dies. I love this contrast of John Wick.

This scene is so great. It shows just how calculating John is. He doesn't waste shots, and he won't fire if there are bystanders in the way. Also he doesn't freak out when the kid is getting away. He doesn't risk being in the open for a clear shot if it means someone else can shoot him. He knows, one way or another, that he will complete his task.
you couldnt be more wrong. john wick is not an example of not wasting shots, just in this scene he shoots the big guy 3 times in the chest before taking the headshot. 4 bullets where 2 would have sufficed. are we watching the same thing? i love the scene but because its badass not for made up reasons lmao
@@stiffy6401 You're focusing on the wrong part of the scene. Every round he pumps into a bad guy is deliberate and has meaning. What I am talking about is when he is aiming at Ioseph. He doesn't waste a shot trying to fire at him when his line of sight is iffy at best. In his mind when he shoots Ioseph he wants it to be a kill shot and he wants to make sure he has it. That and with everything going on at the club he wants to do his best to make sure he doesn't injure any bystanders. That's why when Ioseph takes a human shield John doesn't even both trying to shoot an exposed body part, or even take out the hostage to get to his goal. It's not his style.
@@christopherjamesboudoir first 'You're focusing on the wrong part of the scene' is dumb, because of the blanket statements you keep making about how 'Every round he pumps into a bad guy is deliberate and has meaning' when its clearly not true. youre basically saying 'im right if you ignore the part where im wrong'. second i believe he didnt shoot him then and there because he saw him partying in a pool with girls when THE babayaga was after him. he wanted him to regret what he got himself into and his actions, which he clearly does after this encounter. he had a line of sight and could have shot, he didnt hold fire because someone could get hit (nobody in the way) or he was unsure if it would hit (hes missed before, its to be expected its never stopped him before) but chose to execute the guy he had pinned to make him shit his pants and drop the carefree attitude he had to being on the best hitmans shit list. everything other than that in ur og comment was correct, but atp its literally just explaining the scene. we can all see how he held fire when there was a hostage or how he doesnt freak out when he starts getting away(why would he) idk why ppl need it regurgitated to them.
This has to be one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Can't wait for chapter 4 and 5 in 2022.

Imagine the context of the movie in reality, how terrifying it must be to hear gunshots in a nightclub full of guards who protect you and that you know that if you keep hearing gunshots it's because they haven't been able to stop what's coming for you! incredible

I only recently discovered this, but the guard at 2:13 (the one who alerts the rest to John Wick's presence) is Daniel Bernhardt, who played the Agent that Morpheus fights on the truck in The Matrix Reloaded. Stuff like that really shows how this franchise is basically a love letter to those movies, and it's why I like it so much.
He was the only henchman to beat JW in a one-on-one fight. He was also able to shoot and stab him while whooping him.
He also fought Neo in the beginning of that movie. So needless to say, Keanu kicked the crap out of him twice.

Daniel Bernhardt has had a minor miracle of his career, because one his first notable roles was in a movie that was so bad, it was on Mystery Science Theater 3000 the same year it was released. Then he was on Mortal Kombat Conquest, which the less said about, the better. Basically he's an optimistic example of how if you pursue a career based on a genuine talent (and he's great at doing action scenes, both as a performer and a choreographer), you can make it.
My favorite of the upgrades, Agent Johnson, Bernhardt is a well known martial artist, great on screen fighter.

I really like how they gave Agent Johnson somewhat of a prominent role.
He is not very important for the plot, but he is the only person in the whole trilogy who manages to overpower John Wick.
He used his experience in a previous version of the matrix to learn wicks fighting abilities to be better prepared for this counter. Having experienced first hand getting his ass kicked by wick hes right to tell yousf to be afraid of him

It's mainly for efficiency, so they can't power through their injuries and get him off guard later

I never realized that John didn’t shoot Theon right then and there because he wanted him to get scared and start panicking. I always thought it was because he wanted to kill him with his own personal gun and not a random henchman’s one which he had in hand during the moment.

After watching JW4 and looking back, you'll just know how far this trilogy has departed 🔥. A rare masterpiece in today's movie catalogue.

I like very much how is directed this scene. The musical contrast.. the soft lighting of the first part, in the basement with swimming pool of the night club. Then above, more lively on the dance floor. With John Wick violence becomes art, effective, ruthless, wild and stylish. It was since of Hannibal (Lecter) time, that I didn't watch killing so "good".
