I loved that moment at 1:45 when John is aiming right at Reek, but decides not to kill him because he hasn't suffered enough, and the song goes "think... of me". That's just genius level of editing.
0:56 Why does this song go so well with that moment? It turns something horrific into something almost beautiful. The way John looks him right in the eyes whilst he's killing him, it's strange how much a song can change a scene.

Matt Mcandrew Well, it certainly is just an action movie (minimal characters and plot). But mindless? No way. I can't get enough of how they managed to mix shooting a pistol with martial arts choreography. One person to the next, disabling wounds and headshots. And with no nonsense as well, check out the end car/fight scene at the docks. What happens when a car goes over the side of the road and plummets to the concrete below? Answer: it gets wrecked. No cheesey twenty seconds of tumbling or weird massive explosion at the end. That's one of my biggest pet peeves in movies, was awesome to see car wrecks happen as they would in reality.

Everyone references the scene where john stabs the guy and stares him in the eyes. Its a powerful scene no doubt. However, the most intense scene is when he makes it to the pool area and could easily take yosef out, but instead stares into his eyes while he shoots the security dude. So powerful. Its as id john is letting yosef know that he could kill him now, but rather inflict the overwhelming pain of jihn chasing him then to just kill him.

Watching the (light) in the man's eyes go out and glaze over as the music artist sings, "I am your light, your light, your liiiiight." Then the symbol of him wearing his wedding ring. They brought John back to this dark place. This was cinematic and editing genius! What an intimate kill! 😊
Him staring into his victim eyes watching the life fade while the track sings "I am your light, your light, your lighight", is one of the most beautiful kills depicted on film
"When Helen died, I lost everything. Until that dog arrived on my doorstep... A final gift from my wife... That moment I received some semblance of hope, an opportunity to grieve un-alone... Your son took that from me, your son stole that from me... YOUR SON KILLED THAT FROM ME!"
This is hands down the best scene in all of the John Wick movies. The fact that he doesn't kill the kid when he could have so easily. Like a lion playing with it's food. The play on colors. Red says Wick is not in control. When it turns blue John takes control. Don't even get me started with the staring kill against a wall. The staring in general is so terrifying. And when he misses the target on purpose just to terrorise him more mentally.

Gotta be the best action sequence of ANY action movie EVER. The music is perfect. The cinematography, tone, and lighting are all perfect. Stabbing the guy through his neck while staring deep into his eyes... Perfect. Wick drawing down on the kid, but instead of killing him, he deletes the guy he has pinned down WITHOUT breaking eye contact with the kid. Perfect. F me! Amazing scene...
It's my all time favorite action sequence honestly. It's nothing short of perfect. And your essay is impressive. I could never word it better. Well done and thank you! 😊
Yeah I felt like his dead wife is still with him helping and guiding him it's probably her he thinks of while he seeks revenge and she watches from the other side and gives him strength.

don't be too hyped or you will ruin the movie for yourself. Just take the movie as is, nothing more nothing less; a good action movie and just enjoy it.
Hi John my name is Yvonne and I am forty years old and I have John wick the movie right now and I know that you are hyped I am excited because I buy John wick and yes I saw John wick two it was
This is one of those "perfect" scenes... Everything from the choreography, the music, the colours (cold blues and violent reds) was absolutely spot on... I really love how simple but effective the camera panning was at the 45 second - one minute mark
The song lyrics painful referenced John's previous and current situation: "Go ahead, you've taken me down now." Of all the foes John Wick fought, none of them ever took him down except for Helen. His love for her ruined his devotion to being a hired killer and took him away from that world. "Give me, give me, give me, give me what you don't know." John is unused to love, but he's willing to give Helen something he doesn't know for her sake. "Go ahead, take me all out now." Of all the enemies John fought, love was the only one he ever submitted to, and one that he submitted to willingly. "Get this, get this into your game." John's "game" is about having mastery over death, but now that he's in love with Helen, he must learn the game of life and enjoying it with her. "You got me in a heading drop." The elation John felt when he was in love with Helen was overwhelming, especially in light of how grim the criminal underworld is. "I never wanna come off." John never wanted to leave the peaceful life that Helen provided him, saving him from the grim life he led as a killer. "You got me with your beat of love." Helen's love enraptured John and gave him the idea that maybe he could be a good person for once. "I never wanna come out." Why would John ever want to go back in the darkness after seeing the light? "Think of me." Obviously, Helen is the most important person in John's life, so, of course, he'd be thinking about her. "I'll never break your heart." is an ironic statement since Helen did break John's heart with the circumstances of her death. However, the fact that John now has a heart that can be broken shows that the love Helen instilled in him was very real. "You're always in the dark." Two implications here: A) John never told Helen about his blood-soaked past, and thus she was in the dark about who he really was. B) John's soul is always in the dark, because of the life that he's led, and even if he tries to ignore it he will always be a killer until the day he dies. "I am your light, your light, your light" Helen was the source of light that redeemed John's soul and allowed him to turn away from his violent past. "You're never in the dark." John is never in the dark so long as the memory of Helen's love lives on inside him. However, this is an ironic statement since John is still very much in the dark, since he's going back to his vengeful, violent lifestyle in honor of Helen's memory. "Now that I'm, making this all up..." John is reflecting on the fact that with Helen absent from his life, he's making this all up as he goes along and really has no clue what he's going to do with himself long term. Is John back in the game? He still doesn't have an answer. "Let me, let me, let me, let me into your know." John is looking to Helen's memory for guidance, hoping that she will remind him of how to lead the loving, peaceful life that she showed him now that she isn't there to give him directions. He really has nothing left of her. "You got me in your open hand." With Helen gone, he's no longer the stoic, invincible hitman he used to be and he's an emotionally vulnerable mess. He's henceforth stuck in the open hand of his enemies until he can regain the focus he used to have. "I never wanna come back." John lamenting on the sad state of affairs that the game he left behind is pulling him back in, despite his best efforts to avoid this fate. "How do we let you never found?" John is remorseful over the fact that he's letting go of a peaceful lifestyle that he arguably never found in the first place, and perhaps Helen only gave him the illusion that he could be a good person. "You know it's gonna come out." With all these emotions bubbling under the surface, regardless of how much John fights it… his old killer nature is going to come back out, and it's going to be messy when it does.
Whoever was in charge of all the music for this movie should be applauded. Even the scene where he's driving his car to the Continental & Marilyn Manson's "killing strangers" is playing. John closes the car door & trunk to the beat of the song. It's simply satisfying. ♥️
La synchronisation entre la musique et les différents plans est incroyable de justesse, ce film n'est pas juste un film d'action et Keenu Reeves incarne le rôle de Wick à la perfection, hâte de voir d'autres films de ce réalisateur.
idk y that part where he stabs the guy and covers his mouth while he stares into his eyes watchin his life fade away is fukin intense..i watch that part over and over
the way a beautiful song goes with a horrifying violence action scene is beyond thoughts....this is what we call, 'Great Movie Making'.....and i think this song is meant for this movie.....a strange connection between the music and movie..wowwwww...the way john wick looks into his eyes....damn.......simply amazing...great acting, light effects, direction...overall a great movie making...
this entire scene is nothing sort of a master piece The way the lighting changes on john's face. The calmness of the song with utter violence of the scene. Everything is just sort of perfect in its sence.
A thing I have noticed with John Wick, Is that he KNOWS the human anatomy, he mostly consists of shooting the shoulders and joints, in this scene when that big guy comes out of the pool he hits hit weak spots/pressure points. Including; The foot, The left, and right shoulder, and the center of the forehead. He DOES know what he's doing, and the director definitely did his side of the human body project. Heh. Edit: Oh, silly me. I forgot about the solar plexus. Edit 2: I love the way he runs from John Wick at 2:40, It just shows the terror when John Wick is in a crowd slowly walking toward his victim, like Michael Myers.
2:15 the fact that he doesn't miss him because he was running fast but because he shot the point where Iosef hasn't reached yet. Professional at it's best.
This has to be if not my favorite scene from this movie, its definitely up there as one of them. This is how you make an action scene that has very little dialogue. The music is absolutely perfect. And the lighting is amazing.
I've heard people criticize John Wick as an action movie, but I think you have to think about it more artistically, it's a very aesthetic movie/series of movies, there is a lot of work put into making it a pleasing movie to watch and it's very detail oriented. No you're not going to find the drama you will in other movies but I seriously doubt that's by accident. Aesthetically I think it's one of the best action movies and certainly one of the best series ever made and this scene is testament to that. The colors, the music, the way the scene progresses, its all beautifully done
the way the camera shakes when it follows yosuf through the dance floor because he’s panicking but when it follows John it’s completely still and follows him smoothly showing how calm and collected he is
I always liked how this song Matched the Calm violence at the beginning of the Sequence. All of the Tension and the Build up and Duality that lead him to coming back to the Darkness - the embodiment and Dark Fall of John Wick going back to being a Spirt of Vengeance. This First Movie is just pure awesome! I remember first watching this Move in the Theaters thinking that it was gonna be stupid... But man, was I glad I was terribly wrong! One of my favorite action movies of all time!
Turned this movie on just for something to fall asleep to/never seen it before, wasn't even watching at the time but the song had my attention, then combined with the scene I was captivated/mesmerized. Searched for it and found it. Pumped to watch the rest of the movies now.

My favorite scene is when Wick (as in this video ) stabs the dude under his chin and just stares so intensely at his eyes while he dies. It's like he is devouring this dudes soul, savoring every last delectable ounce. Mmmm scrumptious.
absolutely agree. One thing i dont like about the video boosting the sound, is that it takes away the contrast of the sudden silence, with only the music to witness such an intimate death
0:56 I think this scene ( according to the song ) means that people are in the dark and death brings them in light, like they understand everything in hereafter and the true meaning of life when they're dying.
This is the scene that laid the foundation for the franchise. This scene and the music and John on a mission. "A man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will".......The music they chose to go with this scene makes it iconic. If there was a category in movies for best scene in a movie (acting, music, editing etc.) this would win the Oscar hands down!
Keanu is on a whole other level in these movies! The way he handles those guns is like watching art come to live! And that is ALL him! he trained for months to become completely efficient in the use of firearms and is probably better at it than most cops! The way he tosses the empty magazine like it's nothing is SO fucking beautiful to watch and it just gets better and better with every movie! My god he's amazing, and so fucking sexy! And the way he looks at "Theon" while shooting the guy and still keeping eye contact is absolute perfection!
I loved that moment at 1:45 when John is aiming right at Reek, but decides not to kill him because he hasn't suffered enough, and the song goes "think... of me". That's just genius level of editing.

He's just the kind of man that rather talk with his actions than his words.
no One notice he its still wearing his weding ring, this gives all much feeling...
Well shit, do I have news for ya.
Ali Baba this dude hahaha
Stop you're making me cry
Yeah I felt like his dead wife is still with him helping and guiding him it's probably her he thinks of while he seeks revenge and she watches from the other side and gives him strength.
@@AnnaLVajda It was her dog too.
They should make a prequel to John Wick.. Like how he grew his reputation before he settled down
Heard talk of a TV show? May or may not be true, but still a nice idea
They made a comic book about John Wick in which they show events before the movie.
Muhammad Usama Paracha it was kinda lames and turned into a superhero comic.
For example when he was a kid, some dude he was watching fired a rocket at him.
We can dream......we can dream......
That would be clean
Really wish they should've continued using songs like then on the sequels, this scene alone made john wick as a badass for me.
Ни один боевик за последние 10 лет так не был продуман , меньше слов , больше конкретики , плюс шикарный трэк, этот фильм взбодрил всех любителей экшена)
watched this movie 100 times best movie ever can't wait till john wick 2 comes out im hyped
don't be too hyped or you will ruin the movie for yourself. Just take the movie as is, nothing more nothing less; a good action movie and just enjoy it.
john kracun it will never compare to this one
sexual gizmo it compared pretty well
i cant wait till the john wick 3 come out. 2 was excellent im still in love with all the scenes
Hi John my name is Yvonne and I am forty years old and I have John wick the movie right now and I know that you are hyped I am excited because I buy John wick and yes I saw John wick two it was
glad i was not the only one who thought the music really went well with the scene
1:00 He’s watching for his eye’s to dilate to show that the person is dead. The attention to detail.
He's also savoring the kill
Let’s take a moment to thank Losef, without him we wouldn’t have this amazing series of events that is the return of John Wick.
Love the way he stares at him in the eyes at 1:04 as the guy dies, music fits perfectly at that point as well
that kill is intense the look of Keanu Reeves is badass
I like how his face goes from blue to red as he kills him because of the lighting. Great touch if it was intentional.
That's what you call a confirmed kill lol
Nick Usher i wish he murdered that kid like that
Nick Usher he just immerses himself deeper into the character that is Baba Yaga
This is one of those "perfect" scenes... Everything from the choreography, the music, the colours (cold blues and violent reds) was absolutely spot on... I really love how simple but effective the camera panning was at the 45 second - one minute mark
The fact that this song has more likes in this video than the original music tells you how well put together this was
No, it's because of John Wick
❤
The song lyrics painful referenced John's previous and current situation:
"Go ahead, you've taken me down now." Of all the foes John Wick fought, none of them ever took him down except for Helen.
0:32 when you watch your brother at 3:00 am opening the fridge to eat the last pizza.
Extremely underrated comment
😂😂😂
I’m bringing out the pencil.
🤣🤣🤣
You don’t know how much that made me laugh
What makes this scene for me is the lighting/colors. Perfect for the tone of the song.
0:59 I love how John stares at his eyes to watch how his pupil dilates.
0:59 - 1:06 i legit questioned my heterosexuality in those seconds
Same here
Ahahhah same here dude especially in those scenes where his hair moves like that
O fuck Im woman and I am wet when I think like John push me and look at me like that...aaaaawwww
It was beautiful like art, not sexual like a naked woman 😂
Category: Education
It teaches us how to be hitmen.
Because it's Tutorial about how to kill mofos
Pencils.
Education about to not piss off John Wick
Cause it is
This song has been stuck in my head for daaayyysss
Whoever was in charge of all the music for this movie should be applauded. Even the scene where he's driving his car to the Continental & Marilyn Manson's "killing strangers" is playing. John closes the car door & trunk to the beat of the song. It's simply satisfying. ♥️
La synchronisation entre la musique et les différents plans est incroyable de justesse, ce film n'est pas juste un film d'action et Keenu Reeves incarne le rôle de Wick à la perfection, hâte de voir d'autres films de ce réalisateur.
the intensity of his eyes is such an incredible turn on
Urgghh yesh totally
Shit I guess I'm not the only one
Eyes are beautiful, they really are
Keanu Reeves is a turn on! Damn those seductive and beautiful eyes!! Omg yesss!!! 😍😍😍
Have you ever rubbed one in whilst watching this?
@@jackincorporated8480 hahah asking the right questions
The song choice for that scene is perfect. My best part of the movie
This is soundtrack. Beautiful!! Amazing!!!
These scene is so fucking ICONIC ! The nostalgia is gives me is ridiculous ...
idk y that part where he stabs the guy and covers his mouth while he stares into his eyes watchin his life fade away is fukin intense..i watch that part over and over
So do i. Glad i'm not the only one
Yeah, I thought I was obsessed
Brandon Anders my girlfriend thought I was insane when I said the same thing at least someone else agreed haha
lol yea hands down top 3 favorite scene
Brandon Anders
Symbolic that those who sin will die a terrible death with sweet sounding music in the background LOL
the way a beautiful song goes with a horrifying violence action scene is beyond thoughts....this is what we call, 'Great Movie Making'.....and i think this song is meant for this movie.....a strange connection between the music and movie..wowwwww...the way john wick looks into his eyes....damn.......simply amazing...great acting, light effects, direction...overall a great movie making...
The use of the lighting in this scene is just beautiful
I can’t stop watching this, there’s something about the music, John wick and the whole set up of the scene which is done to perfection
The second guy he kills, stares into his eyes the whole time...straight gangster.
"Gangster"? Pff.
Try "Grim Reaper"
That's what i noticed, Super amazing scene .
He stares into the man’s eyes to confirm he’s dead. Once the man’s pupils dilate, it signifies he’s dead.
@@7ofredspades12 nope....this is an Omo scene ..no doubt
@@7ofredspades12 Still, its fucking bad ass
"I am your light, your light, your LIE-E-I-E-IGHT!"
Lol when I first heard it I thought she was saying I am your love your love your Lo-o-o-ve.
+drcheekyisback It's "I hate your love, your love" right?
ok ive found 3 different versions of these lyrics...what the hell
listening to it again, I believe you are correct
drcheekyisback I swear I heard that to xD
Just started watching John wick and I love the trilogy. Can’t wait for JW4
I’m so addicted to this whole scene. So badass bro especially 0:53
2:11 JW is just playing with him... He never miss
I also noticef that. First part had a the high level of script writing, not like third. I hope that the fourth part does not disappoint.
This fucking actor is a BEAST
*****
No way.. Swear ?
fuck yeah!
That's putting it mildly
+TIRION FORDRING I was gonna say that...
why 'fucking' ,he's a good man
this entire scene is nothing sort of a master piece The way the lighting changes on john's face.
The calmness of the song with utter violence of the scene.
Everything is just sort of perfect in its sence.
This is one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history
The actual terror starts at 0:44 and then boosts up at 1:45
Awesome synchronisation!
The song goes "I am your light" as he looks at the dying man straight in the eyes. The angel of death.
Absolutely hands down my favorite scene in the series.
John Wick had such a nice choice of music!
one of my favorite scenes in this movie...the brain that blended this music with this scene is on point!
Keanu Reeves is the most beautiful man in the world ❤❤❤❤❤
Curator : “How many guns?”
John Wick : “Yes.”
2:15 the fact that he doesn't miss him because he was running fast but because he shot the point where Iosef hasn't reached yet. Professional at it's best.
That's not how it happened 🙄. Why are you even here?
I mean... He still missed.
Watcing the scene is very addictive man🤗
This scene and song NEVER get old and now I'm waiting for John Wick 3
22B420
Yo did you like JW3? I assume you already watched it.
You mean John wick 4 now lmao
John Wick 4 now 🥴
John wick 4 now
@@laughyg4571 John wick 4 was going to be May 21St 2021 it's now been moved to 27th May 2022.
the way the camera shakes when it follows yosuf through the dance floor because he’s panicking but when it follows John it’s completely still and follows him smoothly showing how calm and collected he is
I always liked how this song Matched the Calm violence at the beginning of the Sequence.
Thought of something similar, but man, that movie rocked my world and became the best next thing since James Bond or Jason Borne. Huge John Wick fan.
@@beskarman38 Awesome way to put it man! He is along with those big names now lol! Our Modern age James Bond lol
Greatest edit/scene in action movie history
Oxygen needs John Wick to survive.
Copied
This scene is weirdly satisfying to watch like Istg I've watched it at least 10 times but it feels new everytime I rewatch it.weIRD
Same. I've been re-watching at least once every day.
Turned this movie on just for something to fall asleep to/never seen it before, wasn't even watching at the time but the song had my attention, then combined with the scene I was captivated/mesmerized. Searched for it and found it. Pumped to watch the rest of the movies now.
Mega Film, und echt guter Song!
Grüße aus Deutschland.
This scene right here is one of the greatest action scenes in movie history.
John Wick is a bad man.
👀😮👊💥
it seems you didnt see a lot of films ..Even without thinking a lot i can tell you there is way more better ... th-cam.com/video/mgYINdpBaPw/w-d-xo.html , just this is way more effective .th-cam.com/video/wfNU6JfDN_c/w-d-xo.html or this ... th-cam.com/video/glOnDceqqJc/w-d-xo.html
The music goes so well with that part
the joker reference?
He’s actually watching to be sure his pupils dilate when he dies
I couldn't describe it better
0:56 I think this scene ( according to the song ) means that people are in the dark and death brings them in light, like they understand everything in hereafter and the true meaning of life when they're dying.
Kaleida and Wick are made for each other. Moody but slick. Great editing too
0:56 that part is so nice loved how the song just spiced up when John started looking at him
And he had his wedding ring!!
Love the way he reloads
"Why don't you take the knight off"
"Thank you Mr. Wick"
When I watched John Wick, it was like Max Payne the movie should have been. Some reference to the first game too.
Totally
+penyuwan Yup... I think there needs to be a John Wick game... Could be the spiritual successor to Max Payne...
***** Actually there is, I think its a DLC for PayDay 2.
+Cranky Matt No, there actually is a John Wick game being made lol
same thing, it totally feels like a max payne movie. Loved it, only movie i love for not being realistic.
My favorite movie of all time. Easy.
Holy shit its been 7 yrs but i m still listening to it.
