Posting 6 months late, don't care. Greg is an absolute beast, I'd listen to him playing a scotchbrite pad. What a great entertainer! Oh, and the pups sound great :)
I don't so much listen to the product info, as much as I do Mr. Koch's playing! I could sit and listen to him for hours, and if I could play near as good as him, I'd never put my guitar(s) down!
Randy Woolum That's the issue. The man is able to make a 59$ piece of sh.t sound like a 59 LP. If I changed my pickups, I wouldn't sound any closer to his playing. Besides, I already have a pair of The Mule pickups on my LP. No fancy push-pull options, no battery powered upgrade, just great vintage sound. That's enough for me
not to mention that they've been updated since to have a third single coil voice on them that apparently sounds like a real single coil. i'm gonna be getting a set for my epi les paul custom soon.
I had EMGs on my Schecter, swap them for Fluence and swapped the Fluence for Duncans JB and Pearly Gates.I have now nuances in my guitar sounds with my Boogie and it is so pleasing.Great playing on your videos.I really prefer the passives over any actives.End of story for me with Fluence.
I'm getting these even if I have to pick up pennys on the street for a couple years. I don't like the batteries thing, but for this tone I'll live with it. Right now I have a Seymore Classic 59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. I don't know why, and I'm sure as hell not knocking Seymore Duncan, but they just aren't doing it for me. If they did, I wouldnt even consider the Fluence. Greg is a monster player! I always enjoy his playing and chill demeanor. : )
Finally, someone saying a les Paul is a bright guitar. Yes they are! Everyone and their uncle online claim Les Pauls are dark. Never been my experience, I always choose dark or low output pickups to tame that high end.
Greg don't be a Koch, please tel us what amp and mic's are you using? Is it a fender Prinston Blackface re reissue ( fender standard or hardwired, Technician modded? what speaker does it have in it? ? are the microphones sennheiser 421 and shure sm57? Signal chain? please please . sounds soooo good
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 3, so i need three pick ups. what combination of pick ups do i need to buy for my three pick up les paul?
niptodstan I recommend going to the Gibson website and they have an option to view models based on year. Just go through it and see which year had a plain red finish
Maybe worth kick out a few bad reviews now and again to balance things out ... unless Wildwood hand pick their stock which dealing with Gibson I find very hard to believe! Always entertaining- but it would be refreshing to get the odd bad review ( even though ya trying to flog the GTR)
I really like the Fluence, and I've always used vintage style single coils, PAFs and somewhat recent; 50s type P90's. But if you have a muddy neck pickup on a traditional PU: lower the entire pickup a bit, then back the adjustable pole pieces back up. I was doing a setup on my buddy's ES335. Acoustically it's a one of the better sounding 335s I've played of standard production model modern Gibson (think it was a 2005 or something), so most pickups will sound , at worst; pretty good. He was recording and was saying they were too warm and compressed for one particular song. I don't even remember how it occurred to me to even try, I like to think it was a moment of inspiration but in reality I probably heard it from someone else when half-paying attention, but after an hour or so on it and adjusting it, we dialed it in and it worked great.👌. That was back in 2010 or 11, and it's still set-up that way, even after a pickup swap.👍 *I'm looking at these because I have the Gristle tone P90s. Thinking of picking up a PRS DGT SE and trying these in it, I think it'll be a great 'grab & go', Swiss army axe.
Dooo eeet. I have the modern ceramic in my SG1 24 fret. The Classics should be a double threat by offering vintage & modern, while the Modern is like switching between a 500T & an 81.
I thought that too. Then I watched a documentary about the album which said that there is no evidence, photographic or otherwise, which proves that he actually used a treble booster. So this may be only urban legend.
The magic of a Les Paul is all about those there PAFs and the more reasonably priced boutique replicas. Anything else is just a waste of money. Now, not a snob by any means, but the Fishmans make great noises and all but there's no double tone, no cluck attack, no 'hollowness', no sparkle, no.... magic. Magic is expensive. Pay or play a Tele. Cos at least with a Tele you can still make your CC payment AND sound good.
Are you fkin nuts?? I can name 10 different pickups that sound better than this nonsense. My classic rock preference, Gibson 498-490 I have in my SG. Blows this junk away. And so do the Burstbuckers, which I like less in my LP.
Ummm. Nope. Hype to sell the damn things. Sounded over compressed and glassy to me. You want the old tone, you cant get it with lithium ion powered pre- amp.
Last time I had a guitar with battery powered pickups, the pickups' charge would die every three days and it drove me so crazy I sold that guitar in lightning speed! Resist the urge people. I have a guitar with Probucker pickups that have great coil splits that sound very much like these - just sayin'...
You are supposed to unplug the output jack on the guitar, otherwise they stay on. If you did, then there was something wrong. No way they would last only 3days.

These are awesome, my 7 string V came with these but the open core version and it has a 3rd voice which is a single coil. They sound great
This guy could sell ice to an Eskimo
Well I bought the strat set. Lol
I would buy these. And I'm a dimarzio fan
@@DatMetalBoi75I am also a huge DiMarzio fan, have them in everything, but more and more leaning on these because of the options and the tones.
I put them in a MIM Tele, and I love 'em!
And he’d LIKE IT!
This friggin guy is awesome! He's one of the best players of Strat's and LP's....actually of all types. Knowledgeable too!
Best guitar player on the planet right now. Criminally underrated.
I hate to declare anyone the best that there is, but Greg Koch is ridiculous. Also a very funny guy!
Lol, I am laughing my ass off, there are literally a myriade of guitar players who are easily as good or even better than him.
The only Ric-James, how about a cornucopia or plethora of guitar players? You're full of it.
Mitch that's a bold statement..but this man has "TONE"!!! And FEELING.
And it is something to acknowledge.
Posting 6 months late, don't care. Greg is an absolute beast, I'd listen to him playing a scotchbrite pad. What a great entertainer! Oh, and the pups sound great :)
Came for the pickup demo, stayed for awesome guitar licks.
came for the licks
stayed for the licks
I'm a simple guy. I see Greg Koch, I click.
Greg Koch instant dick , I mean click

I have the open core classics and the single coil combined with these other sounds is EXACTLY what sold me on these. These are awesome
The future is now. Clean next level tech plus Koch is a wizard. Electric guitar for 2020!
I come to hear to laugh, not to be blown away by another great player. He's the funniest fuck alive in the music biz.
Greg is such a breath of fresh air in the guitar world.

I installed these pickups and they sound killer.

They need new videos; the new ones have three modes. Real curious about those.
just eq around the neck and roll of the tone on the bridge pu
thats why you have 2 tone controls

Sold me on them. Greg is a legend!!!
I have the same guitar and the same strap. I bought mine in 1994.
All I know is that you are a killer guitar player man😮
Damn this guy can play.
Does anybody know what is the name of the song Greg mentions at 8:26? I know it is Chet Atkins (Chet stuff), but what is the name of the song?
So signal Chain: Les Paul with Fishman Classic Humbuckersl - Blackface Princeton Reverb - what's the dirt pedal? I dig the sound.
Its a Gregg K signature pedal. You can find them on his website! Here is this link.
www.gregkoch.com/store/p49/Triple_Gristle_Pedal.html
Well... I'm sold.
Wow! Nice! 😀👍
And here was me looking for a nice warm front pickup tone. I think I came to the wrong demo.
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 3, so i need three pick ups. what combination of pick ups do i need to buy for my three pick up les paul?
I’d buy these pickups if Greg came with them.
What would you do with Greg?
@@Deac0n_Blues They'd do what everyone would do - play with their Koch all day. No greater fun could be had.
I'm too drunk to leave a responsible comment on these pickups.
Brian Cullen cool man
@Brian - Your honesty is appreciated. :-) lol
I'm too high to reply to your comment, but I did it anyways......
I'm too sleepy to care.
Im too depressed to say something funny or witty to your comment XD
It’s a genius invention !!
Nice
Great playing!!
are we not gonna talk about that amazing playing at the beginning?
Oh, just at the beginning? 😏
cool sounds
What Les Paul is that? I've been after a red one for ages.
a red les paul
niptodstan you're saying you've never seen a red lp...?
niptodstan I recommend going to the Gibson website and they have an option to view models based on year. Just go through it and see which year had a plain red finish
I don't think they've done a solid red top. Just see through reds. They did a studio, but not a Standard or Traditional.
Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Candy Apple Red 2011...maybe.
This is kick a$$... Very helpful.
badass video greg
nice lick at 4:36! Juicy!
....oh ..what a glorious noise......no noise.....
and hum
What pedal is that?
Any guitar that you actually don't think is great !
Holy moley ... this Gregory Kockery guy is pretty good 🤔
Jesus H. Christ, why the hell don't my EMG equipped guitars have a lithium ion batry?
What is the song at the beginning??

Classic or Modern Fishman Fluence for a 12 string? I'm leaning on the classic...
Classic.
@@chucklefuck i bought emg 50s
... but fishman is great... every guitar should have this pickups..
Seymour Duncan Pearly gates or these fishman pick ups??
Junior The Jinx pearly gates!
Pearly Gates easily
the best of over more than 60 years.....why they don t put it in every guitar ?
Because people don't like change
What are the best pickups for a sg?
I had an SG with the Gibson 61 zebras in it and they sounded great
I love the 498-490 combo in my 99 SG Standard.
I have to nullify this review in terms of my decision to get these pickups because Greg koch can make a shovel with a string sound this good
So basically he can play any style ridiculously proficiently? Seems like he must have been playing since age 4 or so?
Is this an older version of Devin Townsend? Lol
Yes
Possession is 9 tenths of the Law
I'll stick with my Burstbucker pickups in my Joe Perry Boneyard Les Paul thanks.
That looks like the Lucy guitar from George Harrison
Damn, it kinda does
Fishman Fluence showww
greg koch noodling > another demo artist playing his ass off

This man is one EVIL player....
Ah crap! They couldn't resist fucking up the design. The Tele ones look like Tele pickups, these have that "cool" line on them. Bummer.
Sounds like tired old blues licks …
totally hated the clean tone, dirty sound was pretty good
... great playing Greg... but I don t like the pedals
