    Hahaha I cracked up with how far you plan in advance. I do it too. I have 1st grade items for my preschooler, especially when I want to make sure the workbooks will still match with the guides.

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a very real concern! With the wide age range in my family, my mom did end up with math books where the answers in the TG that she used over and over didn't match the student workbook at all because they had gone and made a new edition.

    Rachel, stop everything and read the Wingfeather series. It is super popular and would be an ideal series for you to make literature guides for.
    I just finished the fourth book and it is the best series (adult or child) that I have ever read.
    Side note it shares a theme with Earthsea, True Names!

    Do you have more suggested books to go with your world geography your planning out?

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't yet have a set list--I am taking book suggestions from the On Mission magazines themselves (they have suggested books in the front of the magazine) and am also doing a little bit of extra research. I am very happy with the Lonely Planet Kids "Cities" book I got in this haul...as I figure out exactly what using these will look like I will share more!

    I don't currently have a geography collection, but I need to paint my kitchen (I finally decided that I spend the majority of my time in there, so it should be a color I like), and when I do that I will buy a huge world map and we will weave geography into any and every thing we can!

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ooh, what color are you going for in the kitchen? And yes, a giant world map sounds amazing when you spent a lot of time there.

      @@SevenInAll Part of what keeps me slow is not knowing a color that will work well! 😅
      I tried to make one wall white (I love natural light bouncing around me), but with little kids and food... it has proven too hard to keep clean.
      I might do a very, very pale yellow. Or a darker "white".

    I remember the 1st math picture book and I hear it often!!! My older kids read it as a reminder!!! I’ve had kids more dominant in German than English and if I remember correctly me and my siblings were dominant in either one of these 2 languages!!! Your. Oldest would enjoy the money math books!!! We only do the morning virtues read alouds if we decide we want to as we also do the Bible plan and catechisms and art study!!! We love geography but not found any good books so far!!! We do have a USA state book that we found in the supermarket in Sydney!!! We love that one but it was a rare thing that we found a good book!!! It’s awesome that BA is going well with your oldest!!! We loved MV attentiveness!!! We are currently doing MV self control!!! I made an extra Flashcard for it!!! We loved on mission Canada 🇨🇦 and my older kids asked for us to watch the bieber movies afterwards!!!

      I just recently shared a current homeschool schedule that shows how all the different pieces come together in a school day: th-cam.com/video/CiRZ_hFxbyc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WdQr3ac_KcxSUCUh
      The "feast" and variety in learning is very important to my own philosophy of education, so that definitely shapes our homeschool. In addition, with my young children, I do not do long lessons. I'd much rather spend 5-15 minutes working on something and then move on to the next thing vs. one long session on one topic. And my oldest does more and has a longer attention span than my second--because he's older and has built that up over time. It's amazing how much progress you can make when you can have consistent short daily learning sessions!

      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have already started using one on Vietnam (that I had previously bought) with my oldest, who is 6 and going into 1st grade. Some parts of the magazine (like history) are definitely more challenging than others. I was drawing a whole timeline to help him get a basic grasp of Vietnam history as we read the article.

    Curious what you would do with your library if you move back to the US?

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahhh...well, my approach would probably be pretty similar to when my husband and I originally downsized all of our worldly possessions to move overseas a decade ago: donate everything that would be useful and beneficial for others (many of my English books would I know be well loved by local friends or local learning centers and community centers...I know we could find good homes for them if we couldn't bring them with us), and find storage for or find a way to bring with us those items that are most irreplaceable or of most sentimental value. Last time we moved with all of our belongings in just a few suitcases...I'm not sure if that will be doable whenever we find ourselves making another major move.

      A lot of those titles are relatively new as far as publishing date, with a few being in the last couple of years, and others being from the early 2000s when we probably were in a season of life where we weren't reading all that many picture books...

      @SevenInAll  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We live in a very multi-lingual part of the world, so there's not just one "local" language--English is the lingua franca between different linguistic groups. My children have been dipping their toes into learning Mandarin Chinese, which is among the languages spoken locally, but I'm really leaning into getting Spanish literacy down before we put a whole lot of emphasis on learning Mandarin.
