    Hard to believe they have a heavy metal band playing full time in the factory. What an awesome place to work.

    Great to see US manufacturing...I am sure many people would volunteer to do the voice over for such a great product, gratis! Edelbrock has storied name in high performance manifolds....Their Hi-rise intake manifolds set the standard!
    We machine lovers thoroughly enjoy listening to an expert describe processes also, meeting the people that make it happen is cool too...Just a simple 30-60 second point of recognition..." Hey, this is Jimmy...Jimmy de-burrs the mounting surface ports..."
    Lose the 70's music...Unless it's Sabbath or Crimso...:)

    As a high school kid with a semi-drivable Plymouth 'cuda, and seldom enough money for gas, I dreamed of the things for sale in the Edelbrock catalog. I then got a job at a Southern California Super Shops store, where I spent my paychecks as quickly as I earned them (thank goodness I didn't have a credit card in those days). I wish I still had that car.

    Well, as a teenager, back in the fifties, everything a guy wanted was made by Edelbrock! I would visit the nearest car parts store and dream of owning those Edelbrock headers that would make my 49 Chevy sound "hot"...well, they did; until a cop pulled me over and said : "your car sounds like a P-51 flying through the Grand Canyon"! He was a nice guy and didn't "write me up".....years later, I became a cop, and I never wrote a ticket to a teenager with "glasspacks"! Anybody out there that remembers those days? Probably not....

      +wesley hill I do, in high school ( many many moons ago) I had a 1957 ford with a 312 interceptor engine. I had exhaust cut outs ,and one day I was jamming down a road,cut outs open, when a State patrol unit ( John Mittman, very cool guy) stopped me. He didn't ticket me , but the next day he was in the school parking lot, by my car, and embarrassed me ( in a good-natured way) in front of my friends. Best lesson I ever got from a cop!

    • @wesleyhill4922
      @wesleyhill4922 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Lord, it's fun to relive those years, and I'm grateful that you have shared your memories with all of us! I think it's great that you remember that trooper's name, after all this time. As a side note; I had a brother in-law with a 57 Ford, and I had a 57 Chevy. Belaire with a 283 V8, and "powerslide" transmission. We would argue about which was the better car! I later removed the P.S. and replaced it with a manual 3 speed using a corvette gear shift....jeez, why didn't I keep that car?

    • @appazappa785
      @appazappa785 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think there could be more automation. But more automation requires more skilled labor. I'm an automation engineer and I've seen that with our company we only employ more folks because we can produce more quality product. I really see automation as an enabler for many companies to flourish. By this I mean folks can leave repetitive mundane tasks to go into another role in their company. For example; We pack seeds at my work and I made a few machines that allow the seed production folks more time to go out and garden if they want to. We have many roles at our company that need attention and if automation can help fee people from crazy labor, that, all in it's self, I hope is good.

    sure not quite what Vic Sr. started with - - as the saying goes " you've come a long way " (we'll forego the "baby" part) . While I liked viewing the process and the machinery I believe some narration would have greatly enhanced the experience much more than my mute button. I do run Edelbrock 202 s on my Vette in fact till the blower went on it the whole top end was Edelbrock including the cam kit, heads, intake and carb. What I was shocked to see in the video was someone lifting and manipulating the head casting to remove flashing and excess aluminum - - would have thought a machine would do the square and trim .
