Most Americans haven't traveled enough to understand the cultural norms in other countries. 16 years in the 🇺🇸, and my Filipina wife still uses a crude straw bundle for a broom, washes most of our clothes by hand, the food on our plates is either staring back at us, or is animal parts that are occasionally unidentifiable. I've never seen her use the dishwasher. There is a tabo in our C.R. She is a charming, happy and loyal companion... best life decision I ever made!

Very entertaining video but you do realize that you're the one responsible for portraying your alter ego's lifestyle that your getting slammed for, you reap what you sow my friend. A woven bamboo table top doesn't seem like the best choice for food prep, hard to clean the food out of the cracks. Looks more like a banquet table you'd cover with banana leaves and put the food on for a big family party, that beautiful table cost less than a sheet of plywood here in the U.S.👍

I know that you drink beer to relax or medicate whatever happened in your past. It's no one's business that you drink beer. Everyone has their own way to relax. Mine is eating and enjoying my family. I myself am married to a beautiful Filipina beauty and we have 2 handsome sons . People don't realize that if you are married in the Philippines it's for life. There is no divorce in the Philippines. I think it's great that the kids experienced living in the jungle with their mom and family. I talked to many Filipinos that live in squatter villages. Always smiling and treated me like family. I will admit that your lifestyle is unusual and unique - but it's unusual and unique to the westerner, and, particularly, to the westerner who hasn't done much traveling overseas. When I think about some of the comments that have been made it just reinforces in my mind that we, especially us Americans, think that WE are the world and, therefore, everybody needs to abide by our standards, expectations and "our ways," and that we are the benchmark for the rest of the world to emulate. So, it should come as a surprise to see the numbers of Americans who are beginning to jump ship and getting out of here as fast as they can.
More westerners need to travel to non-western countries. And I don't mean to a foreign city on business, or a foreign beach on vacation. But to travel and mingle with foreigners "in their midst." I follow several PI vlogs and it's interesting to me how many times people comment on, and with an apparent envy, how happy the Philippino people are, IN SPITE OF THEIR PERCEIVED POVERTY. They have something we don't. I've also noticed how much happier westerners are when they are in the PI versus what I see here at home. (And I'm not talking about the vacation excitement.)
I grew up poor and in a very abusive household, so I know what it's like. I see your kids and I see no sign whatsoever of unhappiness or abuse. (Kids can't cover up or fake that kind of stuff very well.) Often times we mention the huge, beautiful smile on Maria's face. Or the way Forrest G runs down a path with complete abandonment and glee. And, yet, some of these folks want you to start teaching them how to tie there self-worth, value and, ultimately, their reward, to things. In spite of all the things I have, I have never been happier than when I am laughing, and I was happy today watching your vlog.
All I will tell you, my friend, is to continue to live the carefree life that you live (along with your family) and not worry about these idiots who have no sense of what it's like to truly be free.
