      My pleasure. As it happens I hike that trail again the day before yesterday and will be making a video of the hike. It was looking beautiful but I fear the crocodile is now gone forever. Cheers

    Great vid Karl, i stumbled upon that croc 14 years ago. Back then it was very little known and there were certainly no signs up on the trail, i almost jumped out of my skin when i came across it. A large Elephant came onto Pha Kluay May campsite at dusk when i stayed.. it was ushered away by a park official. Great channel.. keep them coming

      Thanks, it certainly made things more exciting having it there, a bit like when they still had tigers there, coming across their pug marks or even hearing them never failed to focus your attention. It must have been a great discovery all that time ago

    I was just there 48hrs ago on the same trail but had no idea where to go or what to see. This video would've have been a huge help. All good. Now I have another reason to go back! Nice work!

      Thanks. I have another video or two coming up about Khao Yai which together should cover most of the sights within the National Park and my favourite trails there. It’s unfortunate timing that this one was too late for your trip. I look forward to your video.

    Karl, beautiful park and trail walk. I did that trail in rainy season 2016 and the waterfall was flowing a lot faster. The trail was very slippery too. Thankfully we'd hired a ranger guide and the experience was amazing. Thailand has some great places and your films showcase the natural beaty of the country.

    Another great video! I never saw or heard of that crocodile back in either 1988 or 1999 when I visited Khao Yai ! What´s the story behind it? Was it released as a young one or was it naturally occurring? I visited neighbouring Pangsida N. P. as well in 1999 and they showed me some recently taken aerial photos shot from a plane, showing some small natural ponds in the middle of the rainforest where there were still living wild Siamese Crocodiles recently discovered! So it doesn´t seem as farfetched after all, to believe that crocodiles can also exist in Khao Yai.

    • @karlsthailand
      @karlsthailand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The general belief at Khao Yai was that the crocodile had been released there by someone. However the fact that there was still a small indigenous population in nearby Pang Sida left open the possibility that it had migrated that naturally. I did hear of someone who saw a baby crocodile at nearby Hiew Suwat waterfall and he was somebody who would have known the difference between a crocodile and a monitor. Either way what I did find mysterious was the crocodile’s disappearances a few months after I saw it in 2018. The year before a female tourist had been mauled by it after stupidly trying to get a picture of herself right next to it. In recent years I have picked up that the heads of the NP’s tend to play it safe to a fault…they make the decisions that involve the least possibility of them having to accept responsibility for any mishaps involving tourists. The result of this is more and more areas being declared out of bounds, more trails closed and possibly even the disappearance of the Khao Yai crocodile

    hi, at the 10min mark you mentioned the end of this trail leads towards Haew Suwat waterfall carpark. it means that I do not have to do a return journey back to Pan Kluai Mai Campground, and can exit at the car park? Is this the car park you are referring to ? goo.gl/maps/fhZHaz6zTDVfkv316. thank you

    • @karlsthailand
      @karlsthailand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trail starts at Pha Kluai Mai campsite and ends at the Hiew Suwat Waterfall car park. After completing the trail you can either hitch a ride a few kms back to the campsite or walk it (but it is mostly uphill in that direction). Alternatively you could hitch a ride to the waterfall and start the trail at that end which would mean you would finish at the campsite. I find that it’s very easy to hitch rides in Khao Yai NP
