I made some this year. I cant believe i waited so long. Every spring when I walk up my apartment steps the berries are everywhere. This year though, the tree really put out..so I tried them. Did it like you did just about.. but made a jam instead🤤. I need to get out there and get more... like yesterday!! 😂 I want to make the syrup next. Great video man.
Awesome to hear! I thought about making some jam or jelly but the night I made this syrup it was about 9pm when I started and I was tired so I just went the easy route, lol! This year has been great for berries! My tree is loaded! So much the branches are drooping down from the weight.
@@TrilliumWildEdibles oh yeah.. this year I have definitely seen a lot of fruiting trees and bushes lately! I can for sure get more off of ours. A lot of work but 100% worth the efforts! I don't know man I think the jam may be a bit less time consuming..haha 👍🏻 but great job for sure! I'm in central NC by the way..
Yum, yum, yum! Such an easy process it makes me feel shameful for not making it every year. Thank you for the reminder. Certainly can't buy this at the store.
It's really easy but very time consuming. From harvesting, processing, and making the syrup it takes several hours total. However it's worth it because like you said, it's not available in stores. Plus it's incredibly delicious!
Would love to see another video about what is currently available for foraging!! Im in the lower new york area, not sure if i would find similar things as you would since i just started watching your channel.
You can however you'll end up with more pulp and it'll be more difficult to strain that out for a syrup because the coffee filter will clog up faster. This method basically squeezes the juice out and leaves little room for pulp. However if you want to make a jam a food processor would make it go much faster.
You can but there'll be a lot of pulp and seeds to still strain out. Plus it'll be more difficult to strain. The heat gets more juice out I find than a food processor. However with a food processor you can make a really good addition to smoothies from Mulberries so don't be afraid to experiment.
maybe if u mash and strain the berries cold u can get a lot of the seeds out intact and spread them around where u live. also dont use metal utensils w metal pots they scratch and make the pots less nonstick
This tree is highly invasive where I live so planting seeds is a terrible idea. The pan is stainless steel, there's no nonstick coating at all. That should have been pretty evident by watching the video.
@@TrilliumWildEdibles steel on steel is bad. when metal scratches metal it makes tiny scratches that increases surface area of the pot so things stick to it and its harder to wash. i just got a new pot and it said that on the care instructions. also dish soap or dishwasher liquid with citrus etches the metal over time idk bro 1% of american farmland is organic.. ill take any edible food i can get. then again i cant walk very well so i cant forage very much. theres a berry tree on my property thats invasive but the berries are edible... im keeping it. plus the gubmint is clear cutting every forest in town so... mulberry bark is used to make paper actually. i mean arent apples invasive. we dont have to get into a whole debate about invasive species and im a newb but it seems like a buzzword invented by big agri because they want to protect their patented cash crops. animals naturally introduce new species to new regions for billions of years... yeah u bring in a pest and it eats a bunch of trees but nature plants something new there. the problem isnt invasive species its humans destroying the environment pollution and monocrop agri for hundreds of square acres... trucking bees across the country to pollinate a single cash crop...
I have not but I'm sure it's doable. Technically a syrup can be made from anything you like the flavor of though the process may be a bit different depending on what's used.
It can be! However it will last in the fridge for a really long time, like a year or more so there may not be a need to freeze it. The fresh Mulberries themselves can be frozen after being cleaned for later use though.

Wow! Yum!
It's really delicious!
👍 Awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just found some of these!
Nice
Thank you!
cool vid tho. i like to eat my berries day by day when theyre ripe. i let the birds eat some too.
Can you do the same process with blackberries? Unfortunately don't have any mulberries.
You sure can!
@@TrilliumWildEdibles THANK YOU
What if I puree first the mulberries before i boiled it hehe 😅
Couldnt I use a food processor to mash the berries up? I would think it would be ok, what do you think?

Is it possible to run the mulberries through food processor first and then boil it?

Have you tried this with sugar substitutes like Monk Fruit?

I bet some good honey would be awesome in it..that's how I'm gonna do mine next!
Could this be frozen.

How About Some Razberry Dumplings??? / I Know how to Make Black Berry Dumplings.
Sub Berry for Berry, Bet it's Good!!!!
That's another good option for using Mulberries!
