    Love it! A whole new way of making the molds. I really appreciate that you didn't just use the 3D printer, but took the time to show us another way to skin that proverbial cat.

    That technique of using the board for alignment n expediency purposes is brilliant, droogie. More vids like this, please! I could eat popcorn n watch your videos on a playlist.
    Oh, wait! I already have! lol.

    Another wonderful insight. So much learnt without a word of narration! Do you ever cast using steel? If so are there any tips, or might you have an episode in your library for me to watch. Many thanks.

      You cannot cast steel without industrial equipment. You can do iron at home.

    One more great casting !
    Wouldn'i it be less demanding in terms of finish for the pattern to 3D print it with drafts and fillets included ?

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just an alternative way of pattern making. I think a pattern with thin flat section is less trouble to finish than a printed one.

    Hi Myfordboy. Are these items going to be available as a kit for others to machine and assemble?
    Joe Pie (Joe Pieczynski), has made various workshop machine tools along these lines.
    Great work as usual, and always a 'must watch first' video from you.

      I can cast more legs if anyone wants some. I am working on a smaller version to match the scale of the bandsaw model in the previous video.
      It won't be a fully detailed one but a replica of the origional 1930s Marklin one to be driven by a model steam engine.

    Always an education watching your videos, matchplate casting, superb 👍👍👍 I do have one question, do you know if that is the original bed for the lathe, I've not seen one like that before? Cheers, Alan.

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I assume it's original but i was suprised to see the plated finish. It is a casting.

      @RetroSteamTech 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@myfordboy It was the plated finish that threw me. In all the photos I've seen they have a painted finish.

    One thing i wana caution about cutting mdf with a laser, is that the fumes are highly toxic. So make sure to have a very good ventilation system. You do NOT wana breath that stuff.
