John Dies at the End & Under the Silver Lake are two films I’ll keep an eye out for. Thanks. Seen: Spring Breakers = meh. Found it to be stupidly weird. Free Fire = better than I expected. Was quite entertained throughout. The Losers = meh. Got kind of bored despite the amount of action. Dead Man = absolutely hated it. The artistic aspect was not for me. Blue Valentine = just okay. I did really appreciate the acting & chemistry of the two main stars. Winter’s Bone = solid, but not high on rewatch value imo. Not too intrigued by the others that I haven’t seen.
Great list. Dead Man is rambling, seemingly pointless, insanely slow and confusing...and absolutely unforgettable in a way you might quote for the rest of your life. Stick with it, and it will fuse with your brain in a way that movies rarely do.
I had a friend telling me to watch John Dies At The End for YEARS. Finally gave it a swing about a year ago and I’ve watched it probably a dozen times. Holy shit I love this movie!! It’s goofy and off the wall lite sci fi in the vein of Bill & Ted and Buckaroo Banzai Highly recommended
John Dies at the End is based on the book of the same name written by David Wong. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the movie. It's more of the same, but with a little extra.
WHAT! Under The Silver Lake is one of my favorite movies. I was hooked watching TH-cam videos and reddit forums trying to solve all the mysteries in the movie. Excellent film.
The Rover is my mad max!! Free fire is fabulous for those who enjoy close nit,one setting location films and winter's bone is grade A! Small time crime with hawkes was outstanding! Always a pleasure big D😎👍
You didn't need to spoil that John Dies at the End is a spoiler...you could have just said it's the title. Now we go into it knowing the end, which is a spoiler.
I loved Free Fire, I'm going to watch it again, I'm glad it's available for streaming again, it's just a fun flick and The Losers was a fun flick, JDM was great in it
Spring Breakers was such a guilty pleasure kinda movie. Boobs and butts everywhere! But also not a dumb flick, a good story with lots of emotion and drama. I could watch it again.
Idk if you’ve ever seen “Border” 2018 , Ali Abassi on MAX but it’s considered a masterpiece written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I believe it to be poignant and beautiful.
Fantastic list. One movie on Max I don’t see anyone talking about is Strange Days starring Ralph Fiennes and Angela Basset. A cyberpunk noir thriller. I just saw it last week and frankly adored it. I never see anyone talking about this, and it isn’t even available on Blu-ray.
Yes! Great movie. I had no idea it existed until maybe a year or two ago, and I was almost mad when I heard about it lol. Should have been on my radar decades ago, not sure why it isn't talked about more.
About Spring Breakers, before watching I happened to read a review that made a big difference. The director wanted catch the mood of a generation raised themselves and MTV, and portray the boredom and thirst for excitement. So if the movies starts slow, don't worry it's intentional for the contrast! This way you better get in the mindset of the characters. So instead of a glorification of sex, crime and violence, see it as a parody or guilty pleasure movie.
The Losers was definitely a fun watch. I think the end was a little silly, but overall it was a much better A-Team. Spring Breakers was definitely worth a watch if only for James Franco's overacting and all the scenes of 4 ridiculously hot 19-21 year-old actresses in bikini's or having sex (sadly in more of a PG-13 way than R). Citizen X is a spectacular film with great acting and unbelievably high levels of suspense. Great addition to the list.
Free Fire is a real hoot! It really catches the 70s vibe of the setting. And I can tell you from experience that it's just about the best depiction of how a gun fight between mostly-untrained people goes. And you'll never hear a particular John Denver song the same way ever again.
I'm Vibing the Gist of Your List Hard Today. I'll refrain from recommendations (for once lol) and just gush over one title in particular. Under the Silver Lake is *PHENOMENAL.* Garfield's thus far BEST Film and one of the *BEST* SciFi Films *EVER.* 👏👏👏 i Love how in the last ten, thirteen, or fifteen minutes or so it adds Dashiell Hammett, Mickey Spillane Hard-Boiled Detective Crime Thriller to the list of Feather Accolades in its cap.
Dead Man is amazing. ❤ I just got into Reservation Dogs and it was awesome to see Nobody pop up in it. He appears in Resident Alien too, which is also brilliant.
Been meaning to watch Winters Bone, love me some Jlaw. I'll check out Under the Silver Lake as well. I'm no movie buff/cinephile but I'm burned out on modern Hollywood and blockbusters. I just saw Fargo on Fx yesterday for Juno Temple. I want more of that.
I could not get thru the first 40 mins of under the silver lake. Seemed silly. BUT,other people told me give it time try again. So,ok. Hope u enjoy it.
13 is the perfect number, Flick. Better than 10, and serving the ADHD community better than 20! Bobcat Goldthwaite? The dude was a KILLER comedian; see his standup, and sitdown in the bath work. I saw him somewhere probably youtoobe. Not pg 13? You obviously have daughters. That is like trying to evade Ye olde grin reaper. Just surrender now. But, seriously, Thank you for the comedy!
Citizen X is well-worth multiple airings, and I'm about to add another one now! And like Darren said, you absolutely DO need to watch Ghost Dog and The Rover.
Ah wow thanks for The Losers and The Foot Fist Way, I really enjoyed them both, never actually heard of them, but that's why I follow the best movie channel on youyube, yours 👍
why does the thumbnail say "forgotten"? these are recent movies, who forgot them? Also, you say FORGOTTEN on the thumbnail but then say underrated or missed in the title and in the video? these are different things.
Honestly spring breakers was one of those movies I hated cause to me it wasn’t believe able as a movie and the characters just felt like a bunch of idiots to me. In the end I didn’t believe some skinny girls would be able to do what they did and steal money from a drug dealer who was like probably 100 pounds more then them. By the end of the movie I was just like get the fuck outta here, this was a dumb movie
-When they only have a certain amount at a time. Go back a year and he’s listed almost every movie there. Same with other Apps. Why make a special list if it’s essentially everything ?
I agree ghost dog is one of those movies that past me and I finally watched it when it came out on the criticeon blu Ray. The movie is very good and is very grounded story wise. It’s is a movie that is philosophical in its story and doesn’t rely on expensive set pieces or explosions. It’s good character focus movie and happy I own it cause it is one of those movies to watch and watch again when you are in that thinking mindset about things in life
The saddest “love dissolves” movie HAS to be “9 1/2 Weeks”. The whole story is beautiful, vicious, tender, & cruel revealing at the end two damaged people who were just lucky things didn’t turn out worse. LOL! One of my favorites.
I have been a huge fan of Citizen X since it first came out and I saw it in 1995. I was already familiar with the story because I had read a book written by the FBI profiler who ended up assisting Donald Sutherland's character get information to Stephen Rea's detective character. And at the end of the movie Sutherland is talking to Rhea about the case and tells Rhea that the FBI agent said to him that he would be terrified that Rhea's detective character would have to be the one tracking him down if he was a serial killer. And Jeffrey DeMunn doesn't get enough credit in his portrayal of Andrei Chekatilov. Another excellent crime film from HBO that came out 4 years after Citizen X is every bit as good was Excellent Cadavers, about the assassination of Judge Giovanni Falcone by the Mafia in Sicily because of his determination to bring them to heel. Chazz Palmintieri and F. Murray Abraham have excellent rolls in the film. It should be on one of your lists.
Love the channel. I think the best term for many Jim Jarmusch movies is "Vignettes". Many of his movies are several to many of them somewhat loosely pieced together (to me)
Thanks for the suggestions, I forgot about the Rover after you mentioned it in another video but I’ll convince the wife to watch it with me this weekend! Also, Dead Man is my favorite movie ever. Everyone should watch it once

Wow thank you for helping out international viewers
I just wanna know where these sexy AF thumbnails are coming from. I wanna watch THAT movie.
Whitaker was actually a lifelong martial artist, when he made Ghost Dog, even though the movie isn’t really about that.
Great list. Dead Man is rambling, seemingly pointless, insanely slow and confusing...and absolutely unforgettable in a way you might quote for the rest of your life. Stick with it, and it will fuse with your brain in a way that movies rarely do.

John Dies At The End is a phenomenal book
Just wanted to say I saw Willow Creek in the theater and Bobcat Goldthwait was there for a Q&A. We met him afterwards and he is just the nicest guy!
Willow Creek is EXCELLENT! Bobcat also does all the Bigfoot sounds and noises in the movie as well, check it out, it’s really creepy!
WHAT! Under The Silver Lake is one of my favorite movies. I was hooked watching TH-cam videos and reddit forums trying to solve all the mysteries in the movie. Excellent film.
Good list a few things I actually haven’t seen before but always wanted to
The Rover is my mad max!! Free fire is fabulous for those who enjoy close nit,one setting location films and winter's bone is grade A! Small time crime with hawkes was outstanding! Always a pleasure big D😎👍
Citizen X has been one of my favorites for years. Anyone I meet, if they like any kind of crime movies, I tell them they have to watch it.
Winters bone is solid. Rover as well.
I love John Dies at the End. Waaayyy underrated.
Under the silver lake is so amazing
I'd love to hear more about upbeat, positive moves. Or at least ones with happy endings; also comedies please.
"The Rover" is a masterpiece.
dude please do a list of top 20 unknown thrillers of 21st century
You didn't need to spoil that John Dies at the End is a spoiler...you could have just said it's the title. Now we go into it knowing the end, which is a spoiler.
Blue Valentine is one of the saddest movies of all time. It’s incredible.
Wow this looks like a particularly good list of films -- haven't heard of many of them thanks!
I have watched The Losers 3 times. Really enjoyed it.
Willow creek does not come up in the search on Max. 🤔
I loved Free Fire, I'm going to watch it again, I'm glad it's available for streaming again, it's just a fun flick and The Losers was a fun flick, JDM was great in it
Dead Man is a great movie
Brie Larson has fans ? Hmm...didnt know that
Great video, all interesting films (but check out the pronunciation of "neo noir"...
Spring Breakers was such a guilty pleasure kinda movie. Boobs and butts everywhere! But also not a dumb flick, a good story with lots of emotion and drama. I could watch it again.
When Brie Larson was good..
These are not on UK netflix so dont waste your time
Spring Breakers may be the dumbest movie I've ever seen!
Free fire is really good
Idk if you’ve ever seen “Border” 2018 , Ali Abassi on MAX but it’s considered a masterpiece written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I believe it to be poignant and beautiful.
Spring breakers is TERRIBLE
Dude lets 13 yr olds pic his thumbnails each time lol.
I remember watching Winters Bone when it was released and was mesmerized by JLs performance.... watching that I thought she was going to be a star
What movie is from the thumbnail?
Fantastic list. One movie on Max I don’t see anyone talking about is Strange Days starring Ralph Fiennes and Angela Basset. A cyberpunk noir thriller. I just saw it last week and frankly adored it. I never see anyone talking about this, and it isn’t even available on Blu-ray.
Yessss!!! Love strange days....mesmerizing
Thanks for the recommendation! I never saw that one.
Anything with Ralph Fiennes in
Is always worth watching.
Yes! Great movie. I had no idea it existed until maybe a year or two ago, and I was almost mad when I heard about it lol. Should have been on my radar decades ago, not sure why it isn't talked about more.
I love The Losers. The Expendables and The A-Team both came out pretty much at the same time with it but those 2 were terrible.
About Spring Breakers, before watching I happened to read a review that made a big difference.

the investigator from citizen x is the same actor as the investigator from V for Vendetta. I have to wonder if that was intentional casting in V?
John Dies At The End is one of my favorites. The book and its sequel, "This Book Is Full Of Spiders", are both brilliant.
Me too! I have all 3 books but haven’t finished the third one yet. Love this movie!!!!🥰
The party scene where the Rasta man convinces John is one of the most chilling things I have ever seen on screen.
4 books in the series.
@@jeffkirk9428 omg I just learned this 🤦🏻♂️

Absolutely enjoyed The Losers. Ghost Dog is an OG great movie.

I've seen about half of these, and Ghost Dog is my favorite on the list.
Under the Silver Lake was like if Hitchcock did Lebowski. Far out flick that I enjoyed a lot for its originality.

I just finished watching Winter's Bone.. Boring movie... Shouldnt be #1 on anyone's list..
Harmony Korine's TRASH HUMPERS just debuted on The Criterion Channel for the truly wretched among ye.
This *is* a really solid list! Some great, weird choices in there too. Love it.
You posted this 1 day ago. I checked MAX, nope. It's not streaming anywhere but apple tv. WTF?
Citizen X is well-worth multiple airings, and I'm about to add another one now! And like Darren said, you absolutely DO need to watch Ghost Dog and The Rover.
"Losers" plays like a dude-dramedy...I dig it. "Under the Silver Lake" is freaking awesome-one of my favorite films.
Ghost dog is my favorite!
I swear this dude literally just lists every movie within the Apps. He has like 20 Netflix vids saying what Netflix vids are good.-
I just checked Max and The Losers is mot currently listed. In these modern times, that's the way things go.
Ah wow thanks for The Losers and The Foot Fist Way, I really enjoyed them both, never actually heard of them, but that's why I follow the best movie channel on youyube, yours 👍

Spring Breakers was the worst movie I"ve ever watched in my life! The fact this made your list is astonishing. Just do not watch that one movie.
I thought I was the only one who loved The Rover. It's great. Like Mad Max but feels like it could be any of us.
Willow Creek is so ass. Like I'm sorry but that's one of the most boring movies I've seen
Ghost Dog is the worst movie ever! If you can make it past 15 minutes without gouging out your own eyes, I would be surprised!

While John Dies at the End is bonkers, it is 1/1000 as weird as the book. Both are awesome, but the book is insane.
another list of poison violence and mindless mayhem. why, because that is all that is being made now. if this list appeals to you, seek help.
If you didn't like The Rover you probably hate dogs.
The Losers is one of my all time favorites for days when I just can't decide what to watch!
couldn't find "The Losers" on MAX as of 12/6/2023

Not seeing "Willow Creek" on Max unfortunately.

The Rover is already gone off Max-January ‘24
Under The Silver Lake put me down a rabbit hole on TH-cam for a week

Under the silver lake
Sound interesting
Yes I am weird
Cant believe I have missed GHost Dog, what a movie.
Free Fire was awesome!!! As well as Under the Silver Lake...
The losers one of the best movies ever ! Wish they made a 2nd.
Most of the movies you listed show all your tastes in in your mouth.

The losers was great! Loved the cast and characters and their relationships. Would have really liked to see a few more with this crew.
