One movie not on this list and hugely underrated is “The Hunt”. Do yourself a favour and find it…it’s absolutely superb and deserved so much more on release.
Great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Remember is definitely a great Christopher Plummer movie and great to see Upgrade as your #1. An excellent sci-fi movie. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Hey Darren! I jumped on the comments just chime in and add my recommendation for Upgrade. I just re-watched it the other night, I had forgotten the ending. Just a different and entertaining ride.
I watched Paris,Texas in the cinema on first run. I'd gone for Nastassja but came out scouring listings for Harry Dean Stanton. One of my all time favourite films which I can't watch that often because it completely floors me.
The only issue I had with Upgrade was that it borrowed plot points from so many other high concept sci-fi films that if you are a fan of those films, which I am, then it becomes painfully predictable.
In Trust, Nic cage references a sandwich shop off Decatur. The shop he refers to is Pop’s Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich’s on Decatur Blvd. and Charleston Blvd. I’ve been eating there for over 30 years and he’s right - they’re a must have for locals.
Listened to your recommendation on Upgrade... Awesome movie! Well picked! Also, I've seen Doomsday & loved it it. It's been years so I'm gonna re watch it again! Keep up the great videos!
Your comment about dialog on Philomena made me think of this Netflix movie White Noise. The dialog of that movie kept me hooked and I really don't think I've ever seen such an intriguing script. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't yet
Thanks for this list. I've seen some of these, but, they are definitely rewatchable. By the way, I picked up a Saint Nicolas tee while watching this. Cheers.
Daz, I was planning on watching Leviathan tonight (England) I still am. Not seen it since it first came out. I saw it listed and decided "YES". "Swiss Army Man" looks very odd, I have just obtained it. I like to watch you and as I do see if I can find the movies that stand out,. "Upgrade" is brilliant ! Re-watchable for sure. Thanks again, there one on the list I haven't seen and two that I will be watching again. Cheers !
Alien 1979 The Thing 1982 Leviathan 1989 !!!!! The Abyss also 1989 Prometheus 2012 Leviathan has snippets of its predecessors and some that came after. A cracking film, poorly directed, some dodgy acting in parts, but a great flick if you like any of the others above. No CGI of course. I just finished watching it. It is what it is and compared to some modern movies, it's pretty damn good. This is not a review, Daz is for that, no spoilers either. Give it a go if you have nothing else to watch.
Great list! I haven’t seen Hit and Run, but it looks like I should. In addition to being a car guy, Dax Shepard is also a motorcycle guy (as am I) and if you can watch CHIPS from that perspective, it makes it more enjoyable. Plus, anything with his wife in it, man oh man is she gorgeous.
“Swiss Army Man” caught me off guard. Then I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s not for those with delicate’s sensibilities. I’m a believer and a few scenes made me wince but laugh anyway. I feel like they pulled it off. Many won’t. 😂😂😂
Hit and Run is surprisingly fantastic. Dax and Kristen largely play Dax and Kristen, which is cool, funny and heartwarming, the supporting cast kills it, and the cars are sick. The direction, and soundtrack at moments, are particularly good too. The movie is a b-side type of thing that you end up digging more than the “hit”.
Great list! Upgrade!! Gotta watch again and have never seen Police Story, unbelievable Chan is still about to walk, a true human super hero who’s body probably ‘died’ a hundred times where a mere Mortal would have
Out of no where in 2023 Lacuna Coil used shots from Doomsday for their music video. Thrilled to see it pop up on Max as I have been wanting to see it since their video appeared.
Clicked for Doomsday, cheered for Upgrade (ooh shit it’s Upgraydd!!) have loved those movies for years Doomsday is a wild ride. All of us were floored by the… time shift…? And Upgrade, Jesus. Robocop meets The Crow. With VERY unique fight sequences. So good
Leviathan is underrated creature feature gem in my humble opinion 👀👍🔥 appaloosa, which I believe is directed by ed Harris is a well acted performance by Harris and one I would add to my Western collection. The Trust is one I caught and also enjoyed because of not only cage and wood, who are 2 of my favorite actors,I grew up with them but the take of the heist film and it's dry, desert location is what made this stand out for me as well. Always a pleasure kiddo 👍👏💯
I find it unbelievably frustrating to watch one of your vids in search of a good film that i don't know, just to find out that i know them all already.^^ Great picks tho. Radcliffes performance in Swiss Army Man was worth an Oscar imo, absolutely genius.
Holy Pope on a Rope, I can't believe I've never seen Upgrade! The movie definitely has a flair of the Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, all rolled into a futuristic believable AI world. I absolutely loved it! Thanks for introducing this beautiful gem of a movie to me. Keep up the great reviews, I don't watch anyone else giving reviews. You're my ride or die movie guy.
Hey Darren! Really like what you do. Just you should know... I went to your store and picked out two shirts. Then, when I saw you were charging $10 for shipping, I cancelled my order. At $25 per shirt, you oughta cover the shipping, or at least make it reasonable. Cheers!
Random fact: Vinny Paz is from my state and he and his friend came into my old job back like 10 years ago. Had no idea who he was at first and I'm pretty sure he was slightly drunk lol but I have a pic with him😂
What happened to Philomena happened to a lot of unwed pregnant Catholic girls in Ireland. They were forced into the convent and told they had 2 years to get themselves on their feet while the Catholic Church contracted them out to work as domestics in office buildings and hotels for 12-16 hours a day. My grandmother was one of these women; my dad was born and spent the first two years of his life in the same convent as Philomena's son. My dad was also adopted by a Catholic family in St. Louis, MO. The children born into this are often called the "Lost Generation."
@ 7:29 Dude, sponsor aside, I must tell you...We only feed our dogs and cats RAW MEAT SCRAPS (chicken and beef) (eggs sometimes also) and they have never been healthier since we've stopped feeding them 'croquetas', aka, Kibble (?). Your dogs will thank you for it. ☝💖

Roma is beautiful. Scotland is beautiful. Bentlies are beautiful. This movie is silly and totally entertaining
well, you finally pronounced viggo's last name correctly. a shiny gold star for you, hoss. yi-ha.
For those watching on the European continent, Upgrade is on Prime in France. So check out yours as well.
I'm diving in right now!
Darren says jump ...
Upgrade is being turned into a TV series by Leigh Whannell. It is rumoured to be a sequel.
You forgot conspiracy.
Upgrade IS awesome!!!! Way better than a lot of big budget movies. So smart. The ending is so cool!
I saw Upgrade in the theater and it was a shocking and amazing experience. Great film!
"Doomsday" was fun, and "Upgrade" is definitely underrated, but seems to be gaining viewership recently.
Upgrade looks like fire, just saw the trailer, thanks for the recommendation!!!
One movie not on this list and hugely underrated is “The Hunt”. Do yourself a favour and find it…it’s absolutely superb and deserved so much more on release.
100% Loved Upgrade , but gotta
say, can't begin to imagine where a sequel would go .
Great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Remember is definitely a great Christopher Plummer movie and great to see Upgrade as your #1. An excellent sci-fi movie. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
3:10 to Yuma is definitely in my top 3 westerns of the 21st century.
One of my favorite movies, and I do believe it's one of the most perfect movies ever made. One that gets better with additional viewings.
From someone who enjoyed 3:10 to Yuma a lot, please give also „Slow West“ a chance.
Hey Darren! I jumped on the comments just chime in and add my recommendation for Upgrade. I just re-watched it the other night, I had forgotten the ending. Just a different and entertaining ride.
Darren you always manage to dredge up old movies that I’ve almost forgotten about! Thank you for your lists!
Yes, man! There's one who came close or even to the same level of Jackei Chan! I'm talking about Jackie's great inspiration Buster Keaton!
Great video and sponsor. I enjoyed it a lot and now know what to watch.
I watched Paris,Texas in the cinema on first run. I'd gone for Nastassja but came out scouring listings for Harry Dean Stanton. One of my all time favourite films which I can't watch that often because it completely floors me.

Great t shirt. Love Cage in Moonstruck. Mandy, Raising Arizona, Running with the devil, Joe, Wild at Heart, Con air.& Face off.
You are so correct about "Upgrade".
Man, what a throwback
I remember Doomsday, so weird.
Upgrade is great!
Doomsday is LEGIT! Rhona KILLS it and wish we would have gotten more from that character
Listened to your recommendation on Upgrade... Awesome movie! Well picked! Also, I've seen Doomsday & loved it it. It's been years so I'm gonna re watch it again! Keep up the great videos!
Always great recommendations, thanks!
Watching Doomsday tonight after work.
I haven't heard it it before, Upgrade was a good #1 pick.
I hope you enjoyed Doomsday. I like that movie.
Cheers.
I found "Upgrade" pretty early on & really wasn't expecting much, but it became one of my favorite movies of this millennium
I know nothing about boxing but I absolutely loved Bleed For This, brilliant movie.
Paris Texas is an absolute masterpiece. Such a beautiful and touching story with moments of subtle comedy.
I sat in a theater alone watching 9. I couldn't believe how entertaining it was and no one went to see it.
I loved it also
When you think of seriously underrated, 9 sits ontop of that list. Brilliant movie.
I loved it, but it felt like it was missing scenes
I watched it years after the theater when my brother bought it for me for Christmas. I really liked it and definitely need to watch it again soon .
@@danielvalleduarte I believe 1/10th of the movie is missing; otherwise it would be called "10".
Knock knock--who’s there-- Van Damn--Van Damn who--Van DAMN this is a good movie list
Wow! I just watched Remember. TY! I would not have watched it without your recommendation.
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting years for Upgrade to be available on one of the streamers I use. Gonna watch it today!
Glad to see Upgrade at the top. Super movie. Waiting to see Hardcore Henry on one of your lists (or have I missed it?).
Neurolink is here now
Daz, I was planning on watching Leviathan tonight (England) I still am. Not seen it since it first came out. I saw it listed and decided "YES". Alien 1979
The Thing 1982
Leviathan 1989 !!!!!
The Abyss also 1989
Prometheus 2012

Upgrade was so good.
Upgrade is a classic
I watched remember a few years ago and recommended it to loads of people. Very good movie.
Upgrade is similar to Venom, but way better 😂
Upgrade is easily one of the best out there, deserves way more recognition!
13:24 Lee-Anne Liebenberg is in the thumbnail playing Viper in Doomsday (2008).
Police Story - just wow! Great pick.
Upgrade was awesome
The outtakes at the end of Jackie Chan movies are always fun to watch. But the Police Story outtakes are bonkers.
UPGRADE and TAU make the perfect Sci-Fi B movie double feature!
“Swiss Army Man” caught me off guard. Then I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s not for those with delicate’s sensibilities. I’m a believer and a few scenes made me wince but laugh anyway.
I feel like they pulled it off.
Many won’t. 😂😂😂
I love videos like this because there’s so many movies out and I get overwhelmed. I’m gonna subscribe if you keep making videos like this 👍
I have been hoping they would make a sequel to Upgrade as well. Such a great original action packed movie.
Rhona Mitra was smoking hot and good in Doomsday. It reminded me of the old school British apocalypse movies.
I just watched Upgrade, damn was that good. The twist really elevated the movie to another level.
Love the St Nicholas shirt
Just watched upgrade, when they started with Howlin' Wolf I had high expectations, they delivered!
Excellent choice for #1 here. Fantastic movie which I heard about here a good while ago.
Doomsday will always have a special place in my heart.
Great list! Upgrade!! Gotta watch again and have never seen Police Story, unbelievable Chan is still about to walk, a true human super hero who’s body probably ‘died’ a hundred times where a mere
Mortal would have
A fun action madness movie i would recommend is Hardcore Henry. Its a full movie in first person pure madness..
Appaloosa is a great underrated movie! Love Ed Harris.
It's lesser-known sequel is Tuscaloosa, the story of a baby elephant whose tooth falls out.
Out of no where in 2023 Lacuna Coil used shots from Doomsday for their music video. Thrilled to see it pop up on Max as I have been wanting to see it since their video appeared.
Another solid list Darren! Thank you.
the trust is one of my favourites and i watch it many times it is a classic.
Own hit and run. Best movie ever. Best car ever. Forget most of it in a good way
Saw Upgrade due to your earlier recommendation and it was awesome so thanks for that ❤
Nicolas Cage in The Trust is amazing. Great movie.
Man heck yeah...APPALOOSA is a MUST WATCH!!!
Clicked for Doomsday, cheered for Upgrade (ooh shit it’s Upgraydd!!) have loved those movies for years
Doomsday is a wild ride. All of us were floored by the… time shift…?
And Upgrade, Jesus. Robocop meets The Crow. With VERY unique fight sequences. So good

9 is the best animated movie ever made.
Upgrade is a damn fantastic film! I adore it!
"Upgrade", I agree it needs a sequel, excellent movie, mind that the preview makes it seem like a dark comedy, it is not.
Thanks Darren ❤❤❤
I find it unbelievably frustrating to watch one of your vids in search of a good film that i don't know, just to find out that i know them all already.^^
Great picks tho. Radcliffes performance in Swiss Army Man was worth an Oscar imo, absolutely genius.
Dude! I just started watching DOOMSDAY. HOW had I never heard of this movie before??
Holy Pope on a Rope, I can't believe I've never seen Upgrade! The movie definitely has a flair of the Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, all rolled into a futuristic believable AI world. I absolutely loved it! Thanks for introducing this beautiful gem of a movie to me. Keep up the great reviews, I don't watch anyone else giving reviews. You're my ride or die movie guy.
Absolutely love Hit & Run!
I want that shirt NAOW! :D
Swiss Army Man is a heartwarming movie about a man and a corpse. It's ridiculous how good that movie is.
Darren - I literally laughed in sync with you after the big mommas house comment.
Thank you very much...
Hey Darren! Really like what you do. Just you should know... I went to your store and picked out two shirts. Then, when I saw you were charging $10 for shipping, I cancelled my order. At $25 per shirt, you oughta cover the shipping, or at least make it reasonable. Cheers!
Upgrade is a proper Venom for me
Hit and Run is F’ing great!
Some of the vehicles are from Dax’s collection.
Upgrade is insanely good
Doomsday should have been the third part to the 28 series. Should have been 28 years later
Random fact: Vinny Paz is from my state and he and his friend came into my old job back like 10 years ago. Had no idea who he was at first and I'm pretty sure he was slightly drunk lol but I have a pic with him😂
9 is worth your time! ♥
I recommend Doomsday to everyone. The ending is perfection!
This is a Great movie list I'm surprised that Out of Furnace didn't make though it's a Great Christian Bale movie 🎥 😁👍
So glad doomsday made this list. I absolutely love that film. Also rewatched it many many times during the covid lockdowns.
"There's a lot of garbage in the heist genre" Yes, we're looking at you 'Lift'.
Upgrade was awesome
Swiss army man is such a great movie.. everyone needs to see it.

I really enjoyed Upgrade.
15:23 sounds like weekend ar burnies meets rambo
Hit & Run is a really fun movie.
This channel wins the award for the greatest overuse of the word "actually".
