Freevee takes an ad break sometimes within the first 2 minutes and comes back in the middle of some dialogue mid sentence meaning, you wind up missing portions. The ads are frequent and the bits you miss are negligent editing. I'll watch Tubi w/ads cuz they are careful not to let you miss anything at all. Plus their ad placements are few and far between. Shame because "Buried" is worth rewatching. 🎬
I've got a recommendation for you in the world of horror. It's an independent flick called PONTYPOOL. A sort of zombie-ish apocalypse happens while a radio station stays on the air to try to help and inform people in the town.
@@stanphillips7277 Oh no! I don't think it's streaming anywhere. The internet tells me it's streaming on Amazon Prime. It's a Canadian flick, so it might even just be prime here in Canada.
Darren, you are a legend, I thought I had seen every and all movies ever worth watching , but you just keep on delivering, several of my new favourite movies have been from your recommends (Athena and now Nobody) thank you. Please please more hidden gems and underrated lists ❤❤❤
"Automata" and "Guns Akimbo" were fantastic, hahaha! Loved "Wind River," it takes place in my home state, Wyoming. "Nobody" is a modern classic, hands down. One of my new favorite movies.
So used to these kinds of lists being either: 1. Movies that were highly publicized mainstream releases and are in no way hidden, underrated, or cult films (and that often even did decent box office) 2. Retreads of endless similar lists made up mostly of genuine cult classics but that have long since saturated the zeitgeist (I'm looking at you, Boondock Saints) THIS list on the other hand is exactly as advertised. I'm legitimately speechless. And as someone that saw Bubba Ho-Tep in the theatre on opening weekend, I award you a dozen standing slow claps and 100 point to Slytherin.
My third time in 2 months watching "Nobody," and it does not get old. In fact, I get hyped more, knowing the fun is going to hit 'turbo,' in the final third of the movie.
THE WAILING was my first Korean film view and it was unforgettable. They mish/mash multiple genres together masterfully, and the ending scene is one you'll never forget. Very good mystery
Fun fact: Jennifer Morrison (who would go on to be in a bunch of stuff, most notably the show House) plays the dead girl in Stir Of Echoes. It was her first “big” role and her dad was my sister’s high school band instructor and could not shut up about it.
You absolutely nailed it with The Road. It's not one I'd watch a bunch more times but I remember the impact it had on me the first time I watched it. The immersion you get watching that movie makes it far too believable and it stays with you days later.
It's not on this list, but I watched 'What Josiah Saw' last night and really liked it. It tells the story in three stages and circles back to a great climax where everything is explained. Kept me interested right till the end.
I accidentally started watching Nobody and got so enthralled I couldn’t stop. I have now seen it more than once. Wind River is an excellent choice for #1. So so good.
The Wailing is easily the best film I've seen in the last 10 years. Keeps you guessing the entire movie without any dull moments. Even better than Parasite and Burning IMO 10/10
Believer here I come... Just now finished The Believer with Ryan Gosling for the third time. Incredible list this time, not just great as usual. You just made my summer. Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to re-watch Buried for awhile now. Perfect timing. Having met Ryan Reynolds when we were both 15-16, this was the first movie I saw of him as an adult and a lead. He carried this movie wonderfully 😘👌
Take Me Home Tonight is an absolute blast… as someone who went through high school in the 80’s , it feels very real. Topper Grace is adorable and the soundtrack is KILLER. My FAVORITE movie of the 80’s, Valley Girl, has THE BEST 80’s SOUNDTRACK EVER.
Just watched Eden Lake with my wife tonight after watching this video. It was soooo messed up and thought it was going to end differently... wow, that gave anxiety.
Dude, saw Guns Akimbo yesterday for the first time. KICK ASS FLICK! Love it. Would be a great double feature with either Shoot 'Em Up, Office Uprising or Mayhem; the lat of these also starring Samara Weaving. Btw, saw Nobody recently. And it's awesome. Odenkirk kills it, along with a lot of people. Wind River looks like a spiritual successor to Braveheart. Not Braveheart. Val Kilmer on a res investigating a murder. Thunderheart maybe?
So many of these are AMAZING movies!!! Stir of Echoes I found to be good. Nobody is just an amazing movie to the point my friends told me to watch it for three week in a row until I did and now it's a great "Had a bad day, need some good mental check out movie awesomeness" that I have seen more times than I want to share. Dirty Work is a classic. The Road is a hard watch, more realistic than these post apocalypse movies where people still have food, ammo, social order, cars still work, etc.
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. The stand-out recommendations from you for me are Buried- every time I watch this, it leaves me breathless and riveting. The Iceman- Michael Shannon is outstanding as a mob enforcer and finally Nobody. Absolutely stunning and Bob Odenkirk is amazing. Many thanks for sharing your enthusiastic presentation. Really appreciate the time you put in for our benefit 👍👍👍
Fantastic selection, as always. Most of them have been on my to-watch list for a while, and some I've watched already. Among the ones I haven't, I'll be kicking it off with Believer. Thank you for your succinct and compelling presentation and analyses of these gems. Always makes me wanna drop all my stuff, and just go on a binge.
Hey Darren, this is a great list, gonna watch some movies that I’ve been passing on, and rewatch a few that were recommended by you!The Road is a must watch as well as Wind River and Let him go was more than I thought it would be! Thanks!
I saw probably half these movies and while not bad they weren't stand out films with the exception on Wind River which I absolutely loved. Some of my favourite hidden gem movies are "Night Teeth", "Me before you", "It Follows", "In the Heart of the Sea", "Triangle", "The Room(2019)", "the Brass Teapot", and my all time favourite hidden gem "The Jacket"
2 of your videos and now my queue is restocked. A few from your lists are ones I've seen, but it just means you have a similar taste. I look fwd to the list.
Nobody is a next level action flick. This is an a guy who has a secret ninja master. It’s just a guy with a ton of training. Who’s willing to take a hit in the fight scenes are so brilliant because of it.
I’ve been busy and hardly to watch movies which I love. Definitely gonna check all the movies you recommend it’s like you found the best of modern cinema
Your list videos are always great, but this one is next level. There's some serious gems here and a couple I've been meaning to watch, so thanks a ton for posting!
Hey Darren, You do a lot of Korean movies and you've said you are a fan. It would be cool if you did a list of just Korean movies. Keep up the good work!
Darren, I'm a major fan of "Flick Connection." Question: Have you ever reviewed series, whether on Netflix, Prime, TH-cam, FreeVee, Tubi etc.? If so, could you send a link? Would love to read/see your recommendations.
Try looking for "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" 2003. Sth Korean. Not much happens.... but amazing story and cinematography. Kind of a gentle Buddist vibe. Take a gentle journey for a couple hours and finish refreshed.
I agree it’s such a good story with cool action and horror elements. I wished it made a lot of money cause the film had a great cast as well. It sucks that there’s no sequel yet but it’s one of those movies that had such a good story, cast, directing and has a open ending for a sequel if they wanted too. And lastly it has re watch factor that makes good and never dull
I remember being VERY disappointed in the ending of The Road. It was so grounded and grim throughout, then at the end (spoiler!) the father dies, literally right after telling his son not to trust anyone, not to get close, and MINUTES later the kid runs into a nice family, looking to take him in, no questions asked, like half a mile from where his dad died. Felt like some producer somewhere wanted to shoe-horn in a "happy" ending.
Take Me Home Tonight really grew on me as the movie went on. I didn't even want to see it, but my gf had it on so I watched it and ended up enjoying it a lot m OMG Stir Of Echoes was really good!
Wind river isn’t just a mystery, it’s heartbreaking. It leads you to an end you never wanted to find. Outstanding. It’s close to Hostiles or The Revenant. Only watch it once.
Thanks for the Two for the Money reminder. Fantastic film. Mcconaughey has been one of my favourites since I first saw him in A Time To Kill. Pacino is king in this excellent story and the movie really had the emotions running hot. Great recommendation.
What a great list! I am going to watch Bubba-Ho-Tep this afternoon because I love a good horror comedy. I also will be watching Wind River and no need to apologize about having it in the number 1 spot again, because their is people like me who will go through bouts of watching your channel, stop watching your channel and then coming back so I miss a bunch.
some ive seen, and the deserve to be on this list.. others ive heard about, and just never got the time to watch.. i need to retire just to have time to see some of these great flicks...
People…he said one fact about his advertising. All it does take is 20-35 minutes of hard work daily with A couple days rest throughout the week to let your muscles relax. I eat what I want. I love chocolate chip cookies, I eat ‘em every night just about or some type of sweets. I smoke A pack of cigs A day and drink nearly 6 beers A day. I take no powder, no supplements. I drink water, milk and beer, rarely ever pop. I eat once A day, sometimes two, so basically my eating habit is crap. If you want to know what I do to stay fit, just ask…it’s simple and results will show🤙🏼🤙🏼🕴🏼

Stir of Echos is no casual movie but sooo sooo good! It's horror with such a deep story and so well done.

Stir Of Echoes is such an underrated gem. The fact that you are as unaware of what is going on as much as the central character is a great hook.
Always check out your lists. I watch so many movies and still you point me in new directions with ones I haven't seen yet
My third time in 2 months watching "Nobody," and it does not get old. In fact, I get hyped more, knowing the fun is going to hit 'turbo,' in the final third of the movie.
That bus fight in Nobody is one of the best fight scenes I’ve ever seen.
THE WAILING was my first Korean film view and it was unforgettable. They mish/mash multiple genres together masterfully, and the ending scene is one you'll never forget. Very good mystery

To say The Wailing is a Masterpiece is an understatement.
C'mon man, calling something a masterpiece is never an understatement 😄
Automata got slated but I really liked it, had a old schools sci fi feel to it
The Wailing is one of the best Korean films I’ve ever seen. Sooo good.
The Road is a masterpiece. Wind River is very solid.
Bubba Ho Tep, one of my all time favs!

In Bubba Ho-Tep Bruce Campbell clearly plays the real Elvis lol, it's explicitly explained in this fantastic Don Coscarelli legendary gem.

Alright!!! Fellow 80s aficionado with some hits to watch...or eye guzzle.
Thank you for including Australia! ❤❤
2 of your videos and now my queue is restocked. A few from your lists are ones I've seen, but it just means you have a similar taste. I look fwd to the list.

Oldboy would be #1
Good stuff bro. Thanks. I appreciate the 2a pro ads too. Dont ever change. You are the man. Keep it up.
Hi, I’m in total agreement with you about wind river. Best thing I’ve ever seen Olson or Renner in.
Dude, you actually destroyed this list, every single one of these is worth watching imo !
Wind River is really good. I watch it all the time 😊
TOTALLY agree with your assessment of most comedies.
Darren, I'm a major fan of "Flick Connection." Question: Have you ever reviewed series, whether on Netflix, Prime, TH-cam, FreeVee, Tubi etc.? If so, could you send a link? Would love to read/see your recommendations.
Loved "Stir of Echos"

I'm not always a fan of your lists but this one is great. Good stuff.
Take me Home Tonight is such a great, fun movie! And Stir of Echo's is so damn good! Hell, I love all these movies. Great list man!
And Wind River... what a movie. Just beautiful. Heart-breaking.
Great call on The Road. Well-described.
Started on watching “The Wailing” and I can say this is going to be a good list.
THANKS
There u are gamer.
@@Maya_Pinion haha... yes
Wind river is awesome
Seems like your best work so far. Thank you! Subscribing now.
Eden Lake is my favourite on the list, what a jarring movie
Uh, for me honestly most are REAL freevee Movies, wouldn’t watch those again.
But thanks for the effort and taking the time ! ✌️
Thank you for mentioning Daybreakers! Definitely an underrated gem in my opinion! Unique take on the vampire genre.

I definitely want to check out Buried. I enjoy Ryan Reynolds and the premise of Buried sounds really good. Thanks for the recommendation!
Take me Home Tonight is great. Have had it on Bluray since its release.
Nobody is one of the best movies I have seen in the last 10 years. So much fun!
I just watched After the Dark on Freevee and really liked it.
Great list. Wind River was the grimmest thing I ever saw in a while and it's also brilliant. It will stick with me forever.
The rape scene has haunted me for years.
Guns Akimbo was freakin AWESOME. Thank you so much for the recommendation
Edan Lake is rough, hard to watch. Good though. Let Him Go is a good dark one, and The Wailing too. Good picks.
Darren, did you notice that Way of the Gun is also on Freevee?
The Wailing is one of the best movies ever made.
Totally suck to have commercials when I’m paying a premium for a non commercial stream
Thanks for the Two for the Money reminder. Fantastic film. Mcconaughey has been one of my favourites since I first saw him in A Time To Kill. Pacino is king in this excellent story and the movie really had the emotions running hot. Great recommendation.

Freevee has good original content too- Bosch spin off, Jury Duty.
Stir of Echoes is a must watch!

If you want to know what I do to stay fit, just ask…it’s simple and results will show🤙🏼🤙🏼🕴🏼
